He really sold himself as an expert in TMJ issues and told me that he had a treatment plan with a 99% success rate in resolving TMJ issues, but it would cost $5,000 out of pocket for a year of treatment and access to his expertise. He told me we would work things like getting me into physical therapy, getting a sleep study, and possible orthodontic work once my symptoms decreased, and to be honest, I felt like he was pressuring me a but to agree to sign up for the treatment plan. I was desperate and foolishly agreed to pay this amount of money. His office helped me schedule an MRI, gave me two appliances, and told me that he would be able to unlock my jaw after the MRI gave them more information. I managed to unlock my jaw on my own before the MRI and had one follow up appointment with him to go over the MRI results. After this he canceled my next follow up appointment and did not reach out to schedule anything else. I scheduled another appointment and told him I was considering getting orthodontic treatment done in hopes of decreasing my TMJ symptoms, since I have malocclusion issues. His office scanned me for Invisalign and told me his office would reach out in a couple weeks to go over the scans. It's been almost four months and he has not reached out. I feel like he really oversold what he would do for me, as I was told that he'd work with me to relieve my TMJ symptoms and make sure my jaw does not lock again. I do not feel like the very limited work he did for me was worth the $5,000 I paid him, and I deeply regret giving him that much money only for him to not really do that much for me. For anyone considering working with him to resolve TMJ issues, I suggest finding a different dentist. While you might have to wait longer to get an appointment with other TMJ dentists, it's most likely worth the wait and won't result in you wasting thousands of dollars. TLDR: Don't waste $5,000 here hoping to resolve your TMJ issues.

When the dentist comes in, our conversation goes something like: (Dentist) "So, Renee, Mrs. Carlson, tell me, when was the last time you went to see the dentist?" I took advantage of one of their specials I received in the mail when I lived in Reading and went in. Everyone was kind and I felt comfortable. The dentist at the time informed me I had to have 2 wisdom teeth removed. The oral surgeon they sent me to was AMAZING. My trust was built with Stoneham Dental Care - to have recommended such an amazing surgeon they had to be great as well. I was a pretty basic patient - fillings here and there, cleanings every 6 mos., etc... and then I had a dental disaster in 2014. I experienced an injury resulting in a concussion, loss of a tooth and displaced front teeth. Every specialist was caring and pleasant through the entire process. They saw me cry. They saw me in pain. They saw me irrationally upset over every delay - due to the healing process, not anything they did wrong. Root canal? No issue. Implant? No issue. It wasn't their fault I was having emotional stress from the incident. I have had nothing but positive experiences with any of the staff at Stoneham Dental Care. It's a little costly, yes... but they go above and beyond.

Before the cleaning, I declined the laser decontamination, which costs about $2,000 and is not covered by insurance. She walked out to talk to the receptionist, and came back acting like she couldn't care less about my treatment. She only worked on a couple of teeth and then called it done. I literally walked in and out in less than 15 minutes for this treatment. When I pointed out that she completely skipped the upper right side of my mouth, she insisted she had done it and asked, "Do you want me to go back?" What do you mean by asking me that? This appointment was supposed to be 45+ minutes, and you barely spent 15 minutes rushing through my cleaning! For the billing part, the receptionist girl insisted she couldn't find my insurance and tried to upsell me their insurance plus a $600 estimate for the regular cleaning service which I used to spent $20+ on. I had to call my insurance, connect it with her, eventually run through everything myself. I was overall shocked by their attitude and profit-driven behavior. For me as a patient, health is the top priority, cost is secondary. If they can't even perform a basic cleaning correctly, I can't trust them with anything more complex.
