If you are considering Cody, let me just save you the decision making process: Hire Amore Events! From the moment my (now) husband and I met Cody, we knew she was the one. Yes, I know that sounds cliché, but it is absolutely true. Cody was extremely communicative throughout our 16 month engagement. She responded to emails in a timely manner, was accessible via phone, connected me with all of the key vendors who ended up making our day everything we dreamt of and more, and really became a friend. But, perhaps most importantly, Cody got me. I like to think of myself as an easygoing person, but it's pretty difficult for me to put the reigns in someone else's hands, especially for something as special as my wedding. Never once did I feel apprehensive about giving that control to Cody. She was incredibly enthusiastic about my ideas, provided guidance as needed, and through our conversations and Pinterest board, we were 100% on the same page. I put my full trust in her, and knew that she would execute our wedding exactly as we envisioned. From the moment I woke up on the morning of our wedding until the evening ended, I was relaxed and on cloud nine. I knew Cody had it covered, and I was just thrilled to be marrying my best friend. Now, let me talk about the flowers. The stunning, jaw-droppingly gorgeous, looked-like-they-were-straight-out-of-a-magazine flowers. Cody did them all: The bouquets, boutonnières, centerpieces, etc. To say that she has talent is a true understatement. The lush florals were filled with whites, creams, pastel peaches and pinks, and whimsical greenery. It was like Cody hopped into my head and created arrangements from the images in my mind. I cannot thank Cody enough for working in all of the little details I created, and for adding her own personal touches - some of which were a total surprise to my husband and me! They captured every detail so perfectly and our video has me in tears every time I watch it- was has been about a million times so far. I cannot recommend Citrus Ceremonies highly enough. We loved our video so much that we actually opted to order the package with the full ceremony and toasts as well. I loved that they actually have a drone! They used it to capture some STUNNING footage of our venue, Sierra Vista, and included it into the video. To have this video that we can look back on and share with our children one day is a true gift. Your wedding day goes so fast that when you can watch the video, you see things you never noticed on the actual day. Plus, it's so fun seeing all the things you didn't get to see, like the groom and groomsmen getting ready. We also did a first look with my dad and with me and my husband, and incorporated footage from both into the video. I cry every time I see it! Pictures are one thing, but having a video from our big day is by far one of the best choices we made and is well-worth every penny. Pat and Monica were excellent hosts. Every room was well decorated, well maintained, and clean. The common areas are beautiful and, once again, well maintained. Every morning the Keurig coffee maker was filled with water and ready, with cups, along with bottled water. Pat or Monica would check in periodically and were very responsive the few times we needed them. Finally, the Holladay House is located in downtown Orange. There are excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance. If you are staying in Orange, or close by, we highly recommend staying at the Holladay House.

The house has been redone and the decor inside is new and contemporary but still fits with the period of the older home. Rooms are beautiful, clean and well-kept and there was a Roku on the tv with wifi. The back door has a keypad lock so you can come and go as you please with ease and there was a welcome package with snacks, jam, and a handwritten welcome note. Location is great because, with ample parking in the back of the home, you can walk around the town to antique, explore and eat at one of a dozen or more restaurants. They don't do the traditional breakfast but had a small bar well-stocked with coffee, tea, bananas, fresh pastries, and juice and water. Enough for me! Usually I kind'a wanna go out and explore on my own anyway and the town has several nice places for brunch (Spoon and Spindle was my fav). Pat was great and communicative through email/text but wasn't hovering in the way some B&B owners are. There to greet me but then left me alone to enjoy the stay but was available for questions if I had any.... perfect! Would absolutely come back any time.

The answer: Rev. Claire Goodman. Rev. Claire conducts a lot of weddings in the Charlottesville area, and her experience shows. She's incredibly organized, but also specifically deals with interfaith marriages and the challenges that can arise there. She really made me feel more comfortable discussing ceremony basics, what my husband and I as a couple did / did not want, and was genuinely interesting in getting to know us better so she could tailor the ceremony appropriately. She made us fill out a super long questionnaire that, at the time seemed like overkill, but in retrospect was worth it. It definitely asked some hard questions which probably should be asked anyway when people are planning on getting married. But, that's a topic for another day. Rev. Claire usually likes to meet at Cville Coffee and she was prompt responding to text, email and phone calls. Half way through the planning process I moved from Charlottesville so these digital forms of communication were more important to me. On the day of the wedding Rev. Claire was on time, conducted a beautiful ceremony, and even stuck around a bit afterward to mingle with the guests and get a picture taken with us. I highly recommend her as an officient.

We hired LFA Catering LLC for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding, and unfortunately, the…read moreexperience was extremely disappointing. Rehearsal Dinner The first signs of trouble appeared here. Despite our wedding planner reaching out hours before the event, Jason (the owner) never responded. He was responsible for providing tables and chairs for 40 guests but brought enough for less than a third. While the food was acceptable, it did not match the quality we experienced during our tasting. Wedding Day Our wedding had about 135 guests; per the contract, the catering team was supposed to arrive 3 hours early to assist with setup, food prep, and drinks. Instead, most staff and food arrived late and during the ceremony. Jason was not on-site and could not be reached until well after the event began. The bartenders arrived on time but with no direction and without mixers (also part of the contract), forcing our planner to purchase them out of pocket. Luckily we provided the alcohol so we at least had beer and wine. Because of their late arrival and lack of organization, we had to delay happy hour, dinner, and the reception. When food was finally served, many agreed-upon dishes were missing, including gluten-free options for guests with dietary restrictions. Portions were inconsistent, and they ultimately ran out of food, leaving 20+ guests--including our band and planner--without dinner. Jason did not arrive until after 8 PM (seven hours late) and offered no apology or solution to running out of food. After the Event The team was contracted to handle cleanup, breakdown and trash removal, but this was minimally worked on. Our planner stayed until midnight to clean what she could, after Jason and his staff had left. The next day, my wife, several guests and I spent the whole morning finishing what Jason hadn't done. Afterwards, while my wife and I are trying to enjoy our honeymoon and recover from the disaster he created with our wedding, he harassed my wife about getting all of the items he had left at the venue (we had to take them and store them in our trailer so we didn't get charged by the venue). He didn't have the decency to communicate during the wedding or make efforts to correct his mistakes, but he sure could call and text us non-stop when it was impacting his pocket book. You might wonder if there were warning signs. Honestly, there weren't--until the rehearsal dinner. Leading up to the wedding, Jason was responsive and helpful. He provided a wonderful tasting, he even met us a couple months in advance to walk venue and discuss our needs and coordinate with our wedding planner. He even worked with us to design a menu that accommodated multiple dietary restrictions. He seemed professional and committed. However, on the day of, he was overcommitted and underperformed. The food quality was nowhere near what we had at the tasting. It seemed either Jason didn't prepare the food himself (the head chef onsite was not Jason) or he cannot scale his recipes. Most dishes were bland, poorly cooked, or inedible. Jason may be a fine chef, but he is not a caterer. Something though that really defines who Jason and LFA Catering is, not once, to this day have we received an apology for everything that happened. In fact, during any conversation, with us or anyone else involved, he has only made excuses and tried to defend his actions saying he did the best he could. I'm sorry, but if that's the attitude you plan to have, I could not in good conscious recommend him to anyone for any catering needs. After reading another review where he no called and no showed, I feel lucky we at least received some food and services. I truly feel for those people. I hope whoever has spent the time to read this and their review, learn from our mistakes and stay as far away as possible from this company.
