This marina will have your boat ready to go on arrival with ice, gas, and your cover off so that you can truly enjoy your day with friends and family. It is located directly across from the riverwalk to give you a wonderful downtown experience to enjoy your boat while listening to music and experiencing the McHenry vibe. zero stars. They gave me an appointment date and I took the boat to them on that date. I called every week to see the progress. "We will have the service manager call you back". never got a call back for 5 weeks. Finally was told we are working on your boat as we speak. 3 days later called again, same line. I decided to go see for myself. The boat had not been touched at all. In fact it sat for so long a bird was on the process of building a nest on the ladder on the swim platform. Sam the manager is a bold faced LIAR. They are a disgrace to legitimate businesses in that area. So I hauled the boat out and took it to Thirsty Turtle Marina. 2 days later the boat was done and very expertly at that. NEVER NEVER GO TO D'S MARINA of Mchenry. Wasted 5 weeks of the very short boating season, Sam the service manager must have pictures of the owner for him to keep this boob on payroll. Their hours are 9-3, 5 days a week and and Sam comes in at 3??? People please do not waste your time with this shit show of a business read more

Brought boat in for summarization, gas gauge not working, idles slow causing the oil pressure sensor to alarm and the tilt gauge not working. Asked all to be fixed! Not a problem is what I was told. 1 week later get a call from the tech stating replacement of the wire ignition kit would fix the problem for the idle issue - $400+ NOPE didn't fix a thing! Couldn't fix the fuel gauge or tilt sensor. I'm not a mechanic but was able to YouTube fix the fuel gauge in about 1hr! Ohm meter and replace the gas tank sender unit!!! Will tackle the tilt gauge this season. Back to D's marine....came to pick up my boat 1 week after brining it in and stated I wasn't pleased with 800 tune-up bill and none of my issues were fixed. The front desk clerks said "Let us keep your boat for a week or two and contact Larson representative to see if the have anything to help fix the problems". A total of six weeks went by and NOTHING!!!! No phone calls, no updates, NOTHING!!! I would call and the front desk clerks would tell me "I'll have the mechanic call you back when he get a chance"; never would happen!!! My advice is find another shop. I wouldn't let them work on any boat of mine again! Worst part...$860 later, 6 weeks later, never putting the boat in the water that season as it was a busy year for me. read more

It's Saturday June 15th Fathers Day weekend at 1pm in the middle of a busy day with a chain full of boaters....... I pull up to D's Marine with water only cooling one of my through hull exhaust pipes. I just hated to end my day on the water as it was just perfect outside. I was met at the pier by Stuart I think he was the service manager. I told him I was having a problem, and without hesitation he took off his shoes and jumped in my boat to check things out! We did a series of things and all of the sudden all was working again! He did a few temp tests and BAM we were ready to go back to cruising the chain. I offered him some cash, lunch, a tip..... He would not take a dollar! Thank you Stuart I really appreciate your help and your willingness to jump right in to help a guy you have never even met! Awesome!! read more

They are a dishonest boat repair dealer.Nice and friendly when you first come in the start lying to you from the moment they tell you they can fix your boat to the price.They can't even give you a ballpark price.They just want cart blanch card to rip you off and just throw parts at your engine to see if it fits.Last 3 years their bill was always $200 over estimate.Then when you tell them to stop working on it you have to pay cash cause they don't trust you to pay cause of their bad integrity.The place started to be bad after the new ownersSteve and Heather took over.Ther mechanic Mike is a real bad people person,Then The owner made me sign the work order again but wouldn't give me copy,hiding something,after I paid my bill,class act.Today is Sunday took my boat cover off found on the rear engine compartment hinge only one side was bolted back on,it has 2 sides,I brought it there with bolts on both side.I am the guy who just paid you $2154.00 .I guess it's extra $ to put the boat back together professional wether you like me or not.I worked 30 years with mechanics check their work.where's my hull plug,it was there when I brought you the boat.? What mechanic would pull an engine 23 years old an told to replace the starter motor and not do it but replace the bolts that hold it in,Then not even in his report say he bench tested it .because he didn't. More future work or just stupid.It keeps getting better.I should trust his professionalism with a open bank account or credit card.Would you? read more

Jerry Danko, the owner, was a neighbor of ours while I was growing up. My grandparents only used D's marine for years and were friends with the Danko's in a snowmobile club. Jerry is a top notch mechanic and his guys are awesome too. I bought my boat in 2007 and now that I'm all grown up, these are the only people I will allow to work on my boat. I rented a slip from them for a couple seasons, but as the economy turned in 2008 I had to scale back. I still have them do any motor work needed. They are not cheap by any means, but you generally get what you pay for so I don't mind. I imagine they are competitive with other marinas, but it's still not cheap. Boating is not a hobby for just anyone. If you want your boat repaired right, the first time, this is the only marina to go to in the area. Top notch service! read more

. I brought my boat in to D's Marine for repair on 7-19-19. The problem was that the outdrive was stuck in the forward gear. * The engine was running fine when I dropped it off * I personally changed the oil prior to bringing it in to D's Marine and can verify that there was no water in the oil. * They repaired the boat and I paid $4,200 and took to launch in river. * Battery was dead....they left the switch on. * I jumped the batteries and Engine turned over and immediately stopped with a grinding noise....brand new starter was spinning? broken. * I brought the boat back to D's Marine and they informed me that there is water in the oil and I need to replace the engine for another $7,000. * They also would not release the boat till I paid another $200 for the $7000 estimate! * I called the police for witness and 2 patrolmen documented the incident. * I spoke with Mike who I believe is the manager. I have no problem sharing this information with anyone. In fact I will tell everyone I know so they don't do this to anyone else! Jack S read more

We kept our boat at D's Marine last summer and plan on keeping it there again this summer. Heather and Sage in the front office are always friendly and willing to help with any of my new boater questions. Being that I'm new to boating and bought a used boat, I've also had a few experiences with the service department. Their names are escaping me right now, but the 2 older gentlemen are no nonsense kind of guys that know their stuff. Exactly the kind of people I want to deal with! In my experience they were fair on price and repairs were completed in an acceptable amount of time. They also somehow always seemed to have the parts I needed in stock. A few other reasons I would recommend D's Marine; great location on the river, different pricing options for slips, clean bathrooms for slip customers, competitively priced fuel, little marine store inside for boating odds and ends, plenty of parking, and a nice picnic area. I have been doing business with D's marine for four years. I purchased fuel from them consistently during that time. I had a half tank of fuel, which I purchased from them and before heading out to make a long run through the chain decided to top off my tank. An hour later my 2017 Monterey would hardly run. When I poured fuel from filter it had water in it. We had been running on the half tank every day about 15 - 20 minutes. They denied there was any way the water could have come from them and ended up charging me over $700 to correct it. They would even consider helping me out with the cost of repair, not even a little. Unfortunately I contacted other dealers and ask what they would have charged me for same work and all were less. This is even after after I told them if it was over $700 I would never do business there again. read more

TERRIBLE! Wish we never brought our boat to D's - Paul will repeatedly lie to you and tell you he is working on your boat and will not touch it. 'It will be done tomorrow'. Weeks will go by. While you are at the shop note how he treats his employees - couldn't be ruder, constantly yelling. Our boat sat at D's for a month before we opted to bring it elsewhere & the simple issue was fixed in a DAY. Read the yelp reviews that are 'hidden' - they are very accurate! My boat ran really rough so I brought it here and was terribly disappointed. First without looking to fix the problem, they changed the gear oil, both fuel filters, water separator filter, and air filter right off the bat. The air filter is a metal mesh filter so I'm not really sure why they changed that when you can clean it out. Then it sat in the yard for 3 weeks before they test drove it and put it on the computer diag. Paul says, "you have a cylinder out, I'm gonna clean the fuel injectors." They were clean and that did nothing. Then it sat in the yard for another week and he tells me he's been working on it and thinks it's the lift pump. At this point I'm getting sick of waiting for over a month so I call and he says he hasn't had a chance to look at it and maybe he will in a few days. That didn't happen and since he lied about working on my boat I went over there, paid my $560.00 bill and took my boat to a different marina. The problem was a blown spark plug. That's it. D's marine was about to change my lift pump, and the problem wouldn't be fixed. My bill would have been over $1000.00 and all it needed was a $6.00 spark plug. These people are crooks and Patrick and Paul should not be trusted. read more

We've taken our boat to D's for 10 years. The last few years the service level and knowledge have taken a huge hit. We would be told our boat would be looked at a certain day (first come first served as it should be), and often over the last few years it went 2 to 3 weeks beyond what was promised. The newer mechanics are not honest or very knowledgeable either. A major step was missed when putting my boat back together and a part fell off in the water. Instead of owning up to his mistake, he lied. A deckhand where we launched that day told us (after we returned and the part was missing) he saw a bolt hanging off but we pulled away before he could tell us. Customer service (customer is always right) is not part of their business model. We've spent thousands of dollars with them (including the part they didn't reattach appropriately) and will not go back. The mistakes and poor service level (starting the diagnosis/repair when they promise) have added up to too many. read more
