How do I give a business negative 1,000 stars????? I should've read the reviews before I decided to bring an important item to get altered to this establishment. Then the owner tried to lie about what was supposed to be doing at adress and I know I had my daughter try them on with her prom shoes. If you don't need just a basic hem, don't everrrrrre come in here... even then make sure you have at least a week cause they're gonna tell you a couple of days it'll be ready and it's still not gonna be ready. I'm disappointed! I really just did whatever they wanted to do to my daughter prom dress. Don't recommend! read more

I have been going to this shop for alterations for more than 15 years! I continue to go there and refer people there because they do excellent work for very reasonable prices although the location is inconvenient for me. Twice I have picked up clothes and get home and the work has not been done. I took the first item back that was picked up in November but not checked until last week, and they would not honor it because I didn't have the receipt 6 months later. Today I go to pick up the dress that I'm paying to have hemed the second time along with a jacket they were to switch the snaps out -and I gave them two packs of new snaps. The dress was not ready and she said "come back in 45 minutes. I go back, pay for dress and jacket, checked dress but did not check jacket while in the store. Get home and see that jacket is not done! Not only that but the owner is not nice anymore. If you go, check your clothes before you leave the shop!!! read more

After several years with D as my seamstress, I am very disappointed in the poor service I received today. D, the owner or manager, charged me $25 for services not rendered. I had two brand new pairs of pants. One pair was denim which needed 1/2 inch takin in all the way down on both sides. The other was a new pair of Terry knit jogging pant which needed 1 full inch hem. When I got home and tried on these two new outfits, the Terry pant was only hemmed by 1/2 inch and the denim pant was ruined on one side due to the intake stitch going in the wrong direction!! The other side of this brand new denim pant was untouched. When I politely returned to the shop, and asked for refund or repair, D actually became loud and disrespectful very close to my face and would not refund or repair. Her arms quickly flaring near me, she's shouting something that I can't understand because she doesn't speak English. I asked her repeatedly, "how do you sew alterations"? "By measurements"? She said "YES"! "Well!", I said. "When I brought these requests to you, I showed you with an actual measure tape what I needed and you took these items!". She says, "because you did not try these pants on for me to hem, I'm not going to do anything". In my opinion, that is Robbery. I was very nice to D because I needed this work done. By the way, she has hemmed pants for me in the past without me trying them on first. I will not return to this shop for threat of being assaulted and ripped off. If I was going to give away this money, I would have offered it to my grandkids! If you choose this seamstress, do not allow her to use the language barrier as an excuse to take money unfairly. read more

I'm originally from Douglasville, where I had a tailor that I had been going to for over 15 years. I was driving back and forth to dville and he was either not open or couldn't alter my clothes. I found D's on google and I'm beyond glad I did! The quality of work and price is amazing and I highly recommend their service. They are also a conveniently located. read more

The quality of the work is generally good, but the service sucks. Clothes are rarely ready when promised. I have had to leave clothes there because they were not done correctly the first time on several occasions. Worst experience is that I had to go there 4 times to pick up my clothes. My family and I have been going to D's Alterations for over 10 years. However, these past few years, her work has gotten extremely sloppy. Although she is affordable, it seems as though the quality of her work has gone down significantly as if she's always in a rush. I always find myself having to go back after I pick up, because something isn't right. The alignment of the seams have been extremely sloppy, I had to ask for an invisible zipper twice for her to sew one in, the buttons on the garments never match the actual color of the garment, the overall fit of a piece will still be too big. I've been to D's alterations a few times in the past couple of years and I'm always pleased with the results. This latest visit I took a work uniform piece to have the sides taken in, something to make it look less boxy. There's a small dressing room to change in. After a quick change, I stepped out into the common area to a 3 way mirror where the seamstress pinned and tucked the garment to my liking. I was promised the piece would be ready in 5 days which it was and for a reasonable price. I always recommend them to anyone looking to have anything tailored/altered. read more

I came here to get my bridesmaids dress altered, all I needed was the slit closed less than 3 inches. I dropped it off on a Monday morning and was told to come back next Monday to pick up. When I returned the following Monday afternoon, the dress wasn't done. I wasn't given an apology or anything, just told it would be done in a few hours. I was unable to return until that weekend due to traveling. When I came in on that Saturday, it was very busy but my dress was done and looked great. However, I heard/saw 2 people come in while I was there (10 minutes) and became angry because their clothes weren't ready when they were promised either. If you choose to go here, make sure you have PLENTY of time until you need to wear your items because I can assure you they won't be ready when they tell you they will. read more

I requested a last minute alteration of a formal dress. The dress was finished very close to the time they promised. The slight delay was no problem because I could have waited for her to do the last minute finishing, but I decided to come back the next day. My favorite place to go for an alteration. Yes it's on the southside of town but it helps when you know you'll have a good experience, it makes the drive worth it. I've been coming here for years to get my pants hemmed and I've always loved their work. As a family run business, they value their customers and don't charge ridiculous prices for their services. I brought my bridesmaid gown here (after going to several other places who wouldn't touch the dress) to be hemmed and was elated that it was only going to cost $35 AND the dress would be ready in less than a week. I've always been helped by this one lady in particular who is just the sweetest. Good customer service and good pricing. A definite win in my book. read more

I absolutely love this place! A friend recommended it and I've been going ever since. They altered multiple items from shirts and skirts to my wedding dress and my husband's suit. Prices are reasonable in my opinion and they have a very consistent turnaround (usually 3 days). Once I try on whatever garment I'm bringing, she knows exactly what to do without me telling her the issue. I've been over 5 times and never had a problem. I'm giving this place four stars because I took my bridesmaids dress there on a Wednesday to be hemmed and it only took one week to get it back. I'm addition to that it only cost $35. Other places were trying to charge me $75 plus. Lastly, they are just really nice. When I tried on the dress not only did it look perfect but they also told me how great I looked in it which is a plus. The only "complaint" I would have which isn't really a complaint but more of a area for improvement would be to do some updating/renovations in the actual shop. Beware of this place! Owner lacks understanding of English language so any error on his part will be blamed on you. Asked to take hem up 1 1/2 inches on my work shorts and all he did was add new stitching to hemline. Plus his boorish attitude was off putting to me so I'll never set foot in establishment again! The owner had an attitude when i asked her to correct the hem on my son's pants. She kept telling me that they were right, but looking at the front of pants, you could clearly tell one leg was drastically off. My family has been going to this lady for years, every since my son was about 5 years old. She even charged me $3 to fix the pant, which I was willing to pay since my son was not with me to try on the pant, but I had a pair that she had recently hemmed to measure by. She acted as if she did not want to help me and got into an argument with me about the pants , eventually refused to fix the pant the way I requested, threw the paint and money back at me and shook her finger in my face. I will not be back and If I were you, i wouldnt continue to partronize this business, before it happens to you. read more
