Stayed at Dryburgh for a friend's wedding. Really nice place, lovely grounds and right next to the old Abbey.

Strange mix of a hotel that feels like you've stepped back in time…read more The service is excellent but can be a little slow. The food in the Bistro and at breakfast is fantastic, it's a shame I didn't manage to try the tweed restaurant as the bar was set very high. The room was very large, as was the bed with very good furnishings and large bathroom. It fell down on the extremely weak shower performance and an old, low down TV. The location by old Abbey and the grounds of the hotel are simply spectacular. With views and grounds like these why would anyone need a TV? The hotel will loan cycles and rods for those who want to fish or explore the area. Although don't forget that fishing for Salmon or Sea Trout on a Sunday is still illegal in scotland. The hotel room guide also quaintly reminds you that although they allow legal fishing, it is 'unethical to fish for trout on a Sunday' I'd love to give this hotel 5 stars but cannot bring myself to do so as the shower was just too poor. However, would I go back? Hell yes, this is the best hotel experience I've had in a long time and will seek it out if I'm ever in the Borders again.

Our room was a standard room I think, on the ground floor. It was very spacious with a bed roughly the same size as China, 2 armchairs and a dressing table. The bed and pillows were so comfortable I could happily have taken them home! The bathroom was also spacious and well-equipped, my one complaint would be the water pressure of the shower (slightly like a kitten licking you clean!). We did not dine in the restaurant but attended a Christmas party night in the hotel - the food was fantastic, surprisingly so, as these buffet style things are usually not up to much. The main course of buffet carvery beef and turkey was fantastic - the beef melted in the mouth! Breakfast was a little disappointing (who on earth toasts potato scones!?) but plentiful. The grounds are beautiful, have a stroll around. The staff were very helpful and friendly especially the front desk staff. All in all I would recommend it, and would return here for a romantic weekend or to relax.

I was married here in 2011, August. What a dream come true. The staff was welcoming to all of our…read moreguests and made us all feel like royalty. The welcoming day we had a piper and great little tea and sandwiches set up. Each room was unique and the building was a dream, like a castle. We played croquette on the lawn and danced in the fountain. The wedding took place in the green house, as to avoid the sprinkling outside. They had two crystal champagne flutes made with our names and wedding date for us to keep and handed them to us as we walked out of the ceremony, what a lovely gesture and a treasure we will keep forever. Had spa services done the morning of and the best meal of my life on my wedding day. I wish I had more time to explore the grounds, but maybe on my anniversary I will head back for more country side adventures. thank you to all!

We did and I highly recommend a shooting lesson with Alistair and his fine assistant (name escaping, sorry) on their Sporting Clays course. We also did a fly fishing lesson on the pond that was a delight and improved my skills. You really feel like you have had an adventure on a Scottish Estate. The Estate has water on the Tweed that is World Class for Salmon in season as well as other shooting standard in their respective seasons. The stone work and interior architecture and art are everything you could want as was the wedding.
