It was totally by accident how I discovered it -- it was a simple Google search -- but the blowout is definitely East Coast good. $55. Maybe this has to do with Rae, my stylist. She also just moved to Wilmington (from NJ) five weeks ago. She knows high maintenance women like me! I love her and will be coming back only to see her. Btw. It's a Oribe and R+Co salon, both of which I use.

The blowout bar is clean, staff are welcoming, and the products they use smell divine! The head massage during the shampoo was lengthy and was wonderful :) I wish they had shown us a look book of the options before just diving into doing our hair. It wasn't until after my hair was washed that they asked what styles we wanted, and they just verbally explained the style options rather than showing us a picture. We all asked for loose waves. One sister was thrilled with her hair and thought it better than she could achieve herself (she has long, salon-colored hair, and her hair is coarse). My hair was flat (no-body) and looked not nearly as good as I can make my own hair look I'm about 40 minutes. My other sister's hair was flat (no waves as she'd requested) and it looked like it had air dried. Overall, we had a great experience from the customer service perspective, but our hair did not meet expectations for 2 out of 3 of us. It's a fun place to visit, but I likely won't be back.

Shocked by this whole situation…read more I made an appointment to do mine and my mother's hair trial for my wedding weeks in advance. I have it all on text with the owner. We get there right on time and walk into an empty salon. We waited for a good 10+ minutes before the girls came back to the empty salon.. We let them know we had an appointment and they looked incredibly confused and told us we didn't. They called the owner and found out she forgot to schedule it... It doesn't end there. They very reluctantly squeezed just me in to do a trial. I told them we didn't have to if it was going to cause her to rush, but they insisted. I felt like the entire time we inconvenienced THEM. When she finished, it was pretty. Not exactly what I had in mind, it looked like she used too much powder and was a bit messy. Clearly rushed. But I'm nice so I didn't say much. Here's what really got me... after the treatment I received and the rushed hair, they proceeded to charge me 200 for the TRIAL. My hair started to fall down the moment I got in my car. It didn't even hold. I would never recommend this place. There was no apology, no discounted offer for the troubles. This was supposed to be special.. instead, I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. But they truly inconvenienced me (and my mother).

I was in dire need of a rescue mission to salvage my hair after a failed peekaboo highlight job. I gave Sara creative freedom after I told her basically what I had hoped to do. She lifted my hair, gave me beautiful blue purple highlights, and trimmed my hair. All I had intended to have done was a trim and a deep condition. I'm really glad she told me what she thought she could do with the color, I am not disappointed. She is also very skilled with cutting hair. Very precise scissoring, rather than chunky layering which most lazy hairdressers do IMO. The atmosphere was very chic, relaxing, boho modern trendy. If I lived here I'd make it a point to reschedule every six weeks for sure.... someday when I move I will.

I was invited to a Yelp! Elite Golden Salon and Dry Bar party this past Sunday. What a treat! The…read moresalon is at The Pointe Shopping Center next to Starbucks. Plenty of parking near the salon. First impressions when walking in was that the space was very airy, clean and light. Acoustics are a little loud because the ceilings are high, but you can still have a conversation with your stylist. I got a gorgeous blow out from Catelyn. She started with a very relaxing head massage and used the salon's products from UNITE. She was always checking on the water temperature to make sure that I was comfortable. Oh I was! I wanted to stay under that sink all morning. Catelyn then took me to her station in the middle of the salon and asked how I wanted my hair style. I pointed to another stylist and said that I wanted to try the beach curls. Catelyn used a Dyson blowdryer and curling iron, explaining how I could do the same styling at home. Within 20 minutes, I looked and felt fabulous. My hair had the body I wanted and it was shiny and healthy -looking (no frizz). Catelyn told me that she also does cut & color and I will absolutely go back and ask for her. Do yourself a favor. Book an appointment and check Golden Salon & Dry Bar out. After, you can treat yourself to the lunch/ dinner/cocktails at one of the many restaurants in the center.
