Very helpful and pleasant people. I wanted something small, so opted for their pork tacos. You get 3 small pork tacos for $14.75, which is pretty good in terms of value. They were surprisingly meaty, and tasted decent. They would probably make a good sharing item for the table as they were quite salty. Now, if this were a taqueria, I would not be impressed with the tacos. So if you are expecting "proper" tacos, don't order them. Go to a taqueria, lol. But this is a corporate chain pub in a city, whose main goal is to make a large swathe of people happy. So within this context, I think they did a good job. I would totally be ok to come back and try something else another time. I also had a local hazy IPA which was lovely. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go there again.

Their house special double patty cheeseburger with onions, fried jalapenos and special sauce. Nice soft and slightly sweet brioche(?) bun with tons of flavour in the burger. The heat from the jalapenos definitely builds. The batter and onions add nice texture. 4/5 - Chili cheese fries. Upgraded as part of the combo. Lots of chili and a rich cheddar/american cheese sauce. Good flavours and met the mark, however paired with the Cabano burger can be very very heavy. AMBIENCE (3/5) Small interior with an order kiosk, a pick up counter, and 10-12 bar seats. Well cleaned and didn't feel grimey. LOCATION (4/5) Tucked away a block or so away from Bloor-Yonge it doesn't get a whole lot of foot traffic but easily accessible by transit. Paid parking options available all around Bloor-Yonge and Yorkville.

But I went early at 11:20am and the line was not bad. Got my free burger and it was good! It looked beautiful and was delicious! I loved the soft sesame seed bun. But if it had a sauce I couldn't really taste it. A unique sauce is what separates a smashburger from good to great so this wasn't great. But check them out anyways. I met the owner Kevin and he was really nice and was at the front counter calling out our names on waiting list. The ambiance was warm inside and seating is mostly barstools at several counters.

The establishment's most remarkable feature resides in its architectural flexibility--multiple dimensional spaces accommodate diverse clientele from intimate dining pairs to festive larger assemblies. This pragmatic responsiveness to varying social needs demonstrates genuine understanding of the hospitality spectrum. Their cocktail program demonstrates fundamental competency: preparations that prioritize balance and classical technique over unnecessary elaboration. The spirit-forward compositions achieve respectable equilibrium, suggesting kitchen staff with grounding in mixological fundamentals. The kitchen's approach to food preparation emphasizes comfort and straightforward execution rather than technical virtuosity. Whilst this represents philosophical honesty, one occasionally detects opportunities for greater precision in temperature control and plating presentation. Service staff demonstrate genuine warmth and attentiveness, creating atmosphere conducive to extended social engagement. The ability to make patrons feel genuinely welcome constitutes underrated gastronomic skill. Hair of the Dog succeeds principally as a social destination rather than a culinary exemplar. It represents honest, unpretentious hospitality that fills genuine niche in Toronto's entertainment landscape. For those seeking spirited conviviality combined with serviceable cuisine, this establishment merits serious consideration.

The restaurant is bare bones, but has a nice bench seating that spans the length of the seating area, a garage door opening to the street, and a small bar area near the kitchen. There is local art on one side of the wall and graffiti style decor on the opposite wall and washroom (which you can pickup one of the provided pens and tagged it yourself). The cajun fries are soft potato wedges coated in chili flakes and paprika. It comes with what looks like the burger sauce as dip and is tangy and finger licking good. Eating at Heartbreak is a messy affair. The portions are great for the price, the chicken is hot and fresh, piled high with coleslaw and sweet pickles on a brioche bun. The owner seems to be the soul (pin intended) cook, served us, did cash, and took care of the guests. Overall, the chicken was crispy, lots of meat, will be back to try their mac and cheese.
