Drury Inn & Suites is not one of those big-name hotel chains known across the country but for those in the know, they offer one of the best values and is the only hotel (at least that I know of) that offers a full dinner service included in the price of your room, plus two free alcoholic drinks per person per night. This is convenient, cost-effective, and the food is actually pretty good, featuring entrées, salads, hotdogs, and a nacho bar. The only negative I will say with this, is that it can become a bit of a zoo during the main dining times: kids running all around, a lack of cutlery at times, and sometimes long lines waiting to get beer/wine/mixed drinks. Despite these minor inconveniences, Drury Inn & Suites offering this sets them above and beyond the rest. This Drury Inn & Suites in particular is walking distance to some of the major attractions in the downtown Milwaukee area, including the Miller High Life Theater, Milwaukee Public Market, and the intermodal Amtrak station. The staff were exceedingly friendly, the rooms were clean, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Not much more you could ask for in a hotel experience. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to downtown Milwaukee. read more

The staff here were so nice. There were some inconveniences on the first day, not a big deal, but they certainly made up for it. The room was very clean, and comfy. The complementary breakfast and dinner were really good too. I've never had free dinner at a hotel before. The pool and hot tub were just okay, but the family had fun swimming and lounging there. I took a little staycation and stayed at the Drury downtown. It was a great hotel and I had a good time. The room was spacious with plush pillows, nice decor and a good bathroom. Check in and out was easy with friendly staff. We missed the complimentary snacks and drinks in the evening but that's a good bonus. We had a grilled cheese and chicken tenders for dinner from the bar in the lobby and enjoyed them. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was really nice. Plenty of choices and places to sit. We didn't check out the pool but it's in the basement if you like. It's in an ideal local close to everything downtown. I would stay there again, we had a great time. Thank you! read more

Luckily it was just us, but it would've been tight if more people were there (for a large hotel it was small). Restaurant food was unimpressive. I was always curious about this relatively new hotel right downtown in Milwaukee. My friends and family have stayed at just about every other downtown hotel with varying results, and the TDLR of the Drury is that it is incredible value, feature packed and has an awesome location. I booked a room because of an important event I had the following day and absolutely needed a quiet place to sleep (I live about a 15 minute walk away, but have unpredictably loud upstairs neighbors). I was made aware during check in at 7pm of a pool and hot tub on the property, instantly reviving the dozens of inner, cherished youthful memories of hotel swims of years past. I regretted not bringing my swim trunks, but on to business. I was also too late for the 5pm wind down of free snacks and beverages, so make sure to get there earlier rather than later! My room was fantastically cleaned and sported classy, local and contemporary artwork of Milwaukee, with a view to boot. Very pleasing visuals! I was also shocked by the size of the bathroom, with a huge walk in shower with glass sliding door and a rain shower head, with wall attached soap dispensers (great for single use plastic reductions!). The bed was comfortable, sheets clean, and I am happy to report that I heard no other occupants or street noise whatsoever (on a Wednesday night, mind you). It wouldn't be a complete stay without the complementary breakfast, which was so convenient and well stocked. I enjoyed warm oatmeal, fluffy biscuits, bakery items and juices. Also offered were sausage and eggs, with fruits and cereals aplenty. Very impressive for one of the most reasonably priced hotels downtown. I can honestly say if I'm not sending family to the Pfister, I'm sending them to the Drury. This is a hotel with everything that the vast majority of guests need at such reasonable prices and a great location, not to mention an adaptive reuse of a historic building. I so enjoyed my stay that I may randomly make another trip again, from the whole 15 minute walk away. If you are from further away, consider making your hotel the Drury and consider all roads to lead both away from and back to this wonderful hotel during your visit. read more

First of all the staff here is amazing everyone is helpful and friendly. They have complementary breakfast every morning and complementary dinner and 3 free cocktails every night. You really can't beat that. The room is spacious and clean with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. We will definitely be looking for other Drury hotels in our travels. read more

As part of a Wisconsin college tour for our high school senior we stayed at four different hotels in four nights over the Minnesota MEA weekend. I'm writing four reviews that compare them all to one another. All four reviews have the same opening two paragraphs, and then a paragraph specific to each hotel. Night 1 was the Drury Plaza Hotel in Milwaukee - which ranked #1 of the 4, and grades out as an "A". Exceptional staff, free parking, and a nice breakfast. Night 2 was Home2Suites in Beloit - which ranked #3 of the 4, and would grade out as a C. Night 3 was the Hampton Inn & Suites Madison East Towne Mall Area in Madison, which was #2 of the 4, and grades out as an B-. Night 4 was the Wilderness Lodge in Wisconsin Dells, which ranked #4 of the four, and grades out as a D. We arrived to the Drury late - left the Twin Cities around 5 and stopped for dinner (which took longer than we thought) so we did not get there until close to midnight. The staff were SO great when we checked in. Super efficient, friendly, and got us checked in fast and had all my questions answered before I could ask them. Room was clean and comfy and the bathroom as well equipped and spacious. Breakfast the next morning was what you'd expect, though the staff were perhaps the nicest I have ever encountered in this situation. We were in the hotel for less than 10 hours total, but the experience was enough for me to say that I would easily recommend this hotel to others. read more

Great place for reserving for your wedding guests in downtown Milwaukee. They have an enormous area for free breakfast in the morning where everyone can meet, and lots of room and a bar for hanging out at night. If you are getting ready for an event with others (like a bridal party) rent a two room suite. The little ones enjoyed the pool. Spent a long weekend at Drury in Milwaukee. This is a good hotel, but it could be great. Pros: nice and helpful staff, happy hour 5 - 7 PM free drinks and "snacks" but the snacks are basically a meal (pulled pork sliders, mac'n'cheese, meatballs, hot dogs, soup, etc) Cons: bed not firm, lobby needs work (lobby feels like hospital waiting room, would benefit from comfy couches and some decor). read more

The Drury Plaza Downtown Milwaukee is the perfect hotel for us. For hotels we focus on location (being walkable to activities/restaurants), good value (which in this case is the amenities: free wifi, free breakfast), good pool, comfortable rooms, helpful staff. This place is how any business should strive to operate: everything was clean and orderly, there were plenty of staff everywhere, staff all seemed friendly and helpful. And staff seemed to be happy enough to be there! We are a family of 3: 2 adults and a 5 year old son. We didn't encounter a single staff member that wasn't super helpful or genuinely friendly. Location is great. We took Amtrak from Chicago, and walked from the train station. (There's also a free tram that goes from the train station near here). We walked to the lakefront Museum area: Betty Brinn Children's Museum, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery Zone. We also walked to the Milwaukee Public Museum. And We took a bus from right out front to the Milwaukee County Zoo. And we walked to the Milwaukee Public Market. We did a ton of easy fun things in a long weekend! Pool and hot tub is good. Decent size pool, good size hot tub. Pool could have been 1 or 2 degrees warmer. We swam 6 times in 3 night stay long weekend. Breakfast was solid. We are big fans of the fact that Drury Inn uses real dishware! And my son and I thought it was super cool we could see the person cooking the pancakes and/or scrambled eggs on the griddle! Kickbacks are solid. 5:30-7pm each night. 3 alcoholic beverages per adult, unlimited pop, and basic dinner/heavy snacks. Each night there were hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, salad. Then there was a soup, mixed vegetable, some top of potato, and then something else (pasta, alfredo sauce, and chicken one night. Pulled BBQ pork and slider buns another). They even let you have free late checkout! We could not have been happier with our stay at Drury Milwaukee downtown. read more

This hotel was the most affordable in the area with the most amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and very informative about things like breakfast and happy hour, pool and parking. They have a small snack shop for microwavable foods, frozen treats, drinks, snacks. There is also a payable washer and dryer available for use on the lower level by the pool. There is a decent size pool and a really good size hot tub which was very warm and had powerful jets. When we used the facilities there was nobody else there, which was kind of nice. The gym is also located on the lower level with a sufficient amount of equipment. Our room was located on the sixth floor and we did not have a good view - we looked at another portion of the building, but that was OK because we spent barely anytime in our room. The room was impeccably clean with a microwave and coffee maker with pods. Very comfortable bed and linens. Plenty of lighting and a good size bathroom with shower. There is not a lot of square footage in the bedroom but we didn't really need it since we were not in the room very much at all except to sleep, watch some TV and get ready. We did attend happy hour on Friday night. They serve four or five hot food options plus you get three alcoholic drinks per adult, with your card (you should receive this at check in). There is also a soda machine and fresh popcorn. This hotel is located just north of the third ward and three blocks from the Milwaukee public market. Also just one block east of the river. It was a perfect location for what we were looking to do which was spend the majority of our time at the market (which is a must see). We would stay here again, and recommend this hotel. read more

There is relatively convenient access to an adjoined parking garage. One of the front desk employees was helpful with a question. Sadly, there was another front desk staff member with an anti-social demeanor, thanks to his vile facial covering. The room I was given afforded me a great opportunity to listen to the room next door, for there is poor sound proofing in the rooms. Additionally, there is very poor ventilation in the bathroom. There were people smoking marijuana just outside the front entrance, and the lobby entrance stank of illicit drugs. This was our first stay at a Drury Inn and we were impressed! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. I knocked off a star because the sheets and towels were a little scratchy and the bed wasn't very comfortable. They offer free breakfast and a kickback, which is 3 free drinks and enough food for dinner. There was soup, salad, mashed potatoes, meat balls, veggies, hot dogs and nachos for the first night and pulled pork sliders, baked potatoes, veggies, baked beans for the second day. The salad was nice and fresh and I was surprised it was a spring mix and not just "white lettuce". The soups were also amazing, we had chicken noodle and some vegetable noodle. The mashed potatoes were also really good! The breakfast was a standard free hotel breakfast with oatmeal, eggs, sausage, pastries and waffles. Another wonderful Drury location!!!! We had a two room suite with a king bed and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. The complimentary hot breakfast and 5:30 Kickback are so convenient--giving you one less thing to worry about when you are out of town, thus you have more time for getting out and sightseeing. Speaking of sightseeing, our car never left the parking ramp once during our four day stay because of the amazing location. We were in town for a wedding and besides being able to walk to both venues for the wedding, we strolled the Riverwalk, meandered museums, visited the Milwaukee Public Market, and there were a ton of shopping and dining options along the way. read more

I was unable to make it to the hotel because my flight was cancelled. The management of the hotel is NOT responsible for this. They are, however, responsible for what happened after. I called to let them know I could not check in because of my flight problems. After providing my confirmation number, I gave them *my friend's* name, and asked them to let my friend check in instead. The manager resisted. This was the longest hotel-related phone call I have ever made. Eventually, I got them to let my friend check in by himself. However, they treated it like it was bizarre and unfamiliar situation, the whole time! Really? Do they expect me to fall for that? Have they really never come across this situation before? Have they never before, had a customer call them to let them know, "I can't make, please let my friend check in instead."? Do they really not have protocols or training regarding *this situation* which could happen to anybody- whether they are unable to check in, due to medical reasons, family emergencies, a flight getting cancelled, or any other situation in which the customer cannot appear at the location? read more

I stayed at this hotel recently for work and had a really great stay. Apparently the hotel was recently converted from a bank building (I think) and had opened just a couple weeks before our stay (October 2019). The entire hotel was very clean. Rooms were nice and exactly what I was expecting for the price point. What I was most impressed with was the evening "happy hour" down in the dining area. Each night we were there they had an open bar that will serve you up to 3 free adult beverages (beer, wine, spirits) and, though the selection is limited, it was a very nice thing to look forward to after a long day at the nearby convention center (about an 8 minute walk away). The happy hour also includes what they call appetizers, but you could pretty much eat dinner here each night if you wanted. I remember they served baked potatoes, chili, pasta, nachos, and chicken tenders. Breakfast was good with several choices and good coffee. Service at the front desk was fantastic. I found the pillows in the room to be very hard and uncomfortable for my liking. As I passed by the front desk they asked me how I was enjoying my stay (always appreciate when they ask) and I told them about the pillows. They offered to have some softer, feather pillows delivered to my room and I slept MUCH better the next two nights. The downtown area around the hotel was very nice, clean, and felt safe. There were a lot of restaurants within walking distance or at most a very short uber/taxi ride. There is a casino very close by that I would recommend as well if that's the sort of thing you're into. If I ever return to the area, I will be looking to book this same hotel. read more

So they took an old building and renovated it into a modern-looking 3 star hotel. Among the innovations are requiring your room key to be in a slot inside the room to get the lights and power working; this is designed for energy efficiency and as a way for you to remember your key when you leave. Among the included amenities are a happy hour that offers free hot dogs, tacos, nachos and Coke products. You are also allowed 3 complimentary hard drinks from the bartender. During the day breakfast is served and almost everything is offered - except bacon. Yep, no bacon. Not even Sizzlean. The indoor pool and hot tub are located below ground level and is one of the cleanest pool areas I've seen in a hotel. In fact the entire hotel just looks clean and modern. I did not even know this was a refurbished building until I looked it up. There is a parking fee if you bring your own vehicle but staying at the hotel allows in and out privileges. 5/5. Can't do much better than this. read more

The location of this brand new Drury Plaza Hotel is excellent! It was a former financial building before being renovated into this hotel. The staff was accommodating, helpful, friendly, and went above and beyond time and time again! The nightly kickback was a great touch and breakfast was delicious. My only complaints are that you have to pay for parking(with the price of rooms it should be free) and they definitely need to switch up their breakfast menu... Where do I start? This hotel was beautiful inside an old historic building but everything was clean even my room. The lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful. The shower is absolutely incredible! They serve a variety of food at breakfast and their 5:30 Kickback meal to me was like dinner and 3 cocktails on the house. This place was just fantastic. This is a difficult review to write, since the staff at the Milwaukee Drury Plaza are wonderful. I was in Milwaukee for more cancer surgery, and they extended my check out until 2:30. That was amazingly helpful. However, the hotel itself was not the most comfortable. A new hotel, the Drury Plaza is just one of a slew of hotels now opening up in Milwaukee in advance of the Democratic National Convention. I stayed for a very reasonable amount of money and thought I was getting a great deal based on what I saw at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. However, the Drury Plaza Hotel in Milwaukee is designed to be cheap, certainly a step below a Hampton Inn. Plastic cups, one measly bar of soap for 4 days, saggy mattress, etc. were tell tale signs. Small rooms, with inexpensive, generic furniture, complete the picture. Patrons are encouraged to avoid housekeeping services, as if that is a special perk. As I said, the Drury Plaza Milwaukee is designed to be a cheap accommodation. That is not what I wanted for my surgical recuperation. On the bright side, location is decent, the front desk staff are Wisconsin warm and friendly, and the bar is fun, if a bit generic. I just wish the Drury Plaza Hotel in Milwaukee provided less of a "motel" experience. It seemed more like a highway motel than an urbane hotel. read more
