A gem groomer in Alameda. He knows ins and outs of what to do to calm the puppies/dogs. He doesn't take just any animal - he assesses them, then, takes on the job. My puppy was turned down at Petco for grooming, labeling him as being difficult and biting. Then, I brought him to Drummond's and wow. He knew exactly what to do to calm him down. read more

If I could give more stars I would. What an incredible establishment ran by a stellar human being. You can tell that Nicholas genuinely loves what he does and cares about the dogs he works with. Hes also invredibly knowledgable and goes above and beyond. I was lucky to get a spot as a client back in 2023 and have been going to him every other month since! He goes above and beyond and I trust him with my two dogs which is not something I say often! read more

I've been bringing my samoyed to Nicolas for over a year now. If anyone knows samoyeds, they are NOT easy to groom and come with multiple conditions. Not only does Nicolas make my boy looking more stellar than he already does, but he's very informed about the needs of different breeds. This is essential for owners like myself who have dogs with a thousand different rules for what you can and can't do. Either way, I appreciate Nicolas's work and professionalism. He always gets the job done. Can't recommend his services enough. For sure we will be bringing our boy here as long as we can! read more

My dog is usually nervous going to the groomer but when he went to Nick Drummond he was calm and relaxed

I am so impressed! Nicolas is like a dog-whisperer! Whenever we have to trim Josie's nails, it was always such a pain as it took a lot of work and she would be fussing the whole time. Even when we tried giving her a dog chew to keep her entertained and distracted, it was still difficult. We tried going to our vet to get her nails trimmed and that wasn't a pleasant experience as well as Josie was unhappy and had some bleeding from it. But it was such a different experience at Drummond's Pet Grooming. Josie greeted Nicolas with her usual energetic energy, but quickly calmed down and her nails trim was done without any fuss, no treats involved, and no bleeding either. Wow! I'm a fan! Even after the trim, Josie was her happy self instead of trying to get away which is what she did previously with any nail trim. Josie will be back as we have now found the perfect groomer for Josie! Thank you, Nicolas! read more

Emails and Voicemails Go Unreturned. I posted a review yesterday from my other account but for some reason it got deleted. Perhaps the owner only wants people to see positive reviews. I'm just sharing my experience and that's why I'm giving this shop a negative review. This shop was recommended to me by a neighbor. First week of November of 2021. I checked the shops website and submitted an inquiry about when I can schedule a grooming appointment for my do. Initially, Nicolas called us back and spoke with me and my husband. He said that his earliest availability for full grooming was on January 19, 2022. We took the appointment of course. We were looking forward to getting our dog groomed near our house. On 11/8/21, a week after our phone call, I reached out to Nicholas via email to see if you he can accommodate my dog for a much needed nail grooming. He actually replied via email, however, I didn't get the chance to check my email so we end up driving my dog to her regular groomer in Sacramento. I responded back to Nicholas and told him that I didn't see his response right away and I already had it done. First week of January 2022, following up with my upcoming appointment - 1/19/22 @ 9:00 am, since I never got an email confirmation from him, I reached out to him via email and left 2 voicemails to confirm. He never responded. Which was odd since I he responded to my previous inquiries before. I was also surprised to hear on his machine that a $20 appointment is now required for new appointments. At that time of our phone call he never mentioned about a deposit was required. People's review on his page has been positive , Of course that's what a shop always want to see and read. Unfortunately, I did not have that experience. I love to support local shop, but how can you if the owner doesn't have he courtesy to call back or if even respond to my emails. So I think what happened is that he screwed up and did not pencil in my appointment on his calendar, who knows. I understand the owner is a busy man, but your running a business, you allow people to submit inquiries and leave voicemail so in return at at least give them a courtesy call. read more

Some heavy dog-mom guilt settled in this week as I was looking at my shaggy pup. I heard about Drummond's Pet Grooming and took Sunnydale in for his first grooming in years. #theshame Nicholas was incredibly sweet and calm with Sunny, who went into his rescue dog mindset immediately. Nicholas did a fabulous job with Sunny's coat and was even able to cut most of his nails without sedation, which never happens anymore! I shared photos of him with family and friends all night last night (that beard!), so I had to leave a review for others as well! read more

I just took my baby boye charlie here 10 minutes ago for a nail trim and it was soo fast ! in and out in literally 5 minutes. I'm so glad that theres a place on bayfarm! no appointment needed. charlie is almost 10 with black nails so I'm way too nervous to try to cut them myself with worry about cutting too close. BUT he was extremely professional and efficient- my dog is usually a nervous wreck anywhere that's not home and he was calm and collected when he came out. super reasonably priced! next time theres time i want charlie to come here for a trim because his coats a mess heh. now hes home with short nails and he can run around without worry! this will be my new to go for charlies nail needs. highly reccomended. read more

Such a great experience from the time I called to set up the appointment! This was our first time getting Odie groomed (10 mo old mini-bernadoodle), so we weren't sure what to expect. Nicholas was great at setting expectations about what would be possible for a first puppy grooming. He was very caring and great with Odie. It was clear that Odie's comfort and safety was a top priority. I also appreciated the tips he gave us for maintenance in between grooming. Will definitely be making regular appointments! Highly recommend! read more

I love the environment of his grooming studio is very calm and relaxing- much better than the larger grooming salons where it's noisy and I imagine very stressful for dogs. My pup is a bit nervous and doesn't like getting groomed, but he's always very patient with her, and she comes out looking great! Thank you, Nicholas! read more

He told my puppy and I "never return" and slammed the door on our face. You heard that right. Where was the Nicholas everyone is raving about? Must have been his doppelganger. I rescued a large 1 yo puppy mutt who has anxiety with nail trims. After reading the great reviews (some reviews from friends and family) I was expecting a stellar experience. Especially with all the talk about supporting FAAS and shelter dogs. Anyway, on with the review. I called beforehand if he can handle my anxious pup and warned him that the vets required him to be medicated before they touched his nails. Nicholas said no, he won't need it. Impressive! I was told to wait outside while he took my Tasmanian devil pup in. I heard him whine a lot (the pup, not Nicholas) but that was expected and since he was in the hands of the dog whisperer I was not at all worried. About 2 minutes later, he comes out. I felt a wave of extreme frustration from Nicholas and he said my pup tried to bite him. Isn't this standard expectations if your chosen path is dog groomer? He pointed to his arm where he was supposed to have been bit, but he withdrew it quickly so I didn't notice any blood dripping. Before I could apologize and ask him how much I owed for this extra service, he said "never return" through gritted teeth and slammed the door. Then I heard the lock turn, as if my pup and I had been axe murderers that he was quickly trying to rid of. Soooo, I'm probably going to get hate mail or knife threats but felt this needed to be known. I waited awhile before I posted this review to be sure I wasn't posting out of anger yet here it is months later and I still have the same opinion of Nicholas. Too bad, as I have other rescue pups in my care and wanted a place close to my home. read more

Nicholas was really nice! When I first contacted him, There was a misunderstanding and I did not specify My dog needed a cut. However, he was able to still fit him in for it which I greatly appreciated! He was also able to give me an appointment within the same week. The space where he works looked super clean and my dog came out super happy and not stressed. I will definitely be bringing him back and recommending him. Also the prices are very reasonable compared to many other in the area. read more

We just took our 5 month old goldendoodle on recommendation from our friends. He has never been to the groomer, so we were a little nervous. We just wanted a nail cut and trim of the paws and around the eyes. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and Leo wasn't nervous at all! I can't wait to take him back for a full grooming. read more

Several of the Bay Farm Island dogs we walk get groomed by Nicolas. The dogs look so great and the clients love him so much that I went by to meet him and was very impressed. I watched him for awhile and since the first time have been by several times and watched him work, (you can see him groom from outside the shop,) and Nicolas is very gentle and respectful with the dogs. I thought he brought something special to the (grooming) table (pun intended,) and I found out that he has studied canine massage and incorporates those techniques in his grooming and bathing. Awesome. Recently I brought my my almost-15-year-old pug to him for a bathing session since he'd been scratching even though we were up to date on his flea treatment, and afterwards he seemed very relaxed and was walking more smoothly. It turns out that's because he had his hips and pelvis released! Nicolas showed me that one of his ears had an infection and he'd cleaned it out. We went to the vet on his recommendation. My pug's fur is fluffier than usual, which is great since I pet and love on him constantly, and I so appreciate that my little old guy had his own bodywork session! Now I understand why my clients are raving about Nicolas. I've met many groomers in my 15+ years of dog walking, and he's the truly the one I like the best. read more

Great until it wasn't. Nicholas is a terrific groomer who also struggles with anger management issues and will only see your dog if they are properly brushed to his satisfaction. We took our dog there from Berkeley which is a long haul for us in traffic. Several times we arrived 15 minutes late for a 2 hour appointment. We always communicated our tardiness via text and totally understand being charged more or enforcing a cutoff or other policies clearly communicated. Instead when my husband arrived Nicholas yelled at him. It was so odd! So many ways to handle the situation. Yelling at customers is not ok. The other issue is that apparently he will not take dogs with any matting. He told us our dog isn't being brushed properly and he doesn't have time to deal with grooming matted dogs. We have often asked for more regular appointments so that it doesn't get to that point but Nicholas doesn't open up his schedule to make that possible. We told him totally fine to shave our dog so we are not picky about the length of her coat. So.. long story short, great groomer if you are never ever late, and you are brushing your dog every day. Not great if your coming long distances in traffic, show up with occasional matts, or don't like being yelled at for any infractions to his policies. read more

Overdue 5 star review. I've been partnering with Nicholas for my mini goldendoodle's grooming since late 2021. He truly cares about the pets he partners with and this goes a long way with my sweet (but nervous/anxious) pup, Woody. Woody is no longer stressed when he has to get groomed and that's a total reflection of the time and care Nicholas takes with him. read more

Cannot recommend Drummond's enough. I've only taken my 1-year-old Aussiedoodle here once, but Nicholas has secured a long term customer in me and Hermes! I recently moved out here and was desperate to find a new and good groomer. Nicholas was quick to respond and even squeezed me in during a very busy time. My little guy absolutely loved him and came out looking, feeling, and smelling great! I know I speak for most dog owners when I say that leaving your dog in the hands of a stranger can be pretty daunting. Especially when it comes to grooming, you want to feel like your dog is safe and comfortable. From the moment I met Nicholas, I was confident that Hermes was in good hands. If you are looking for a local groomer, definitely check out Drummond's! read more

Nicholas maintains a small, quiet atmosphere which is calming for the dogs. My dog is elderly and anxious; nonetheless, Nicholas has done an excellent job grooming him, and he always leaves looking wonderful and happy. I don't write a lot of reviews but this place is fantastic! We took our 1 year old Newfie in last week and Nick was wonderful with him. I was very nervous about the visit as Vader is 150+ lbs and had never been to a groomer before. He is still a bouncy puppy, isn't the biggest fan of baths and is a little stubborn which, coupled with his size, makes for a real adventure. I was hoping Nicholas could accomplish a bath and a little brushing but he was able to do all that plus some hair trimming and even cut Vader's nails! This dog has never been so soft and clean in his entire life. We will definitely be going back regularly! read more

Nicolas is great. I think people need to be more understanding, he's running a small business so you can't expect Amazon prime in the moment replies. I've been going to Nicolas for a year now and he's very accommodating and understanding, you just need to schedule things in advance. If you want quick and fast- there's the pet food express that you can go and groom your little doggie yourself. But if you want the extra care than schedule ahead. It's very hard to find a groomer like Nicolas - so he's worth the wait. read more

I'll start with the grooming services. I brought in 3 Pomeranians with heavy coats and really in need of grooming. They came out smelling fresh and clean, fur looking fluffy and with neat haircuts. My poms are also very nervous, but Nicholas was able to calm them. He is gentle with them (which is important because I've had a past experience with a different groomer that traumatized one of my poms.) His grooming salon has a pet spa feel, tidy and calming. There is a waiting area in the front so you can see your pet through the glass. About pricing, I sincerely believe Nicholas can charge more for the quality grooming services he provides. I honestly can't believe his prices. Last, he is a good person. I am a noc shift nurse, overslept and was 2 hours late in picking up my poms. He had every right to be upset, as my poms delayed him with his other appts. However, he was still kind and understanding. My experience with this business has been 100% positive and I would highly recommend him. read more

I called as soon as I found out my doggy could get groomed again! Drummond Grooming let me make an appointment within the week. (Very lucky!) This was my first time having my dog groomed here and I am please. The owner seemed to really take the time to beautify him, and he came back all groomed, smelling amazing. Since they did such a great job with him, I made another appointment for next month, and we are bringing our other dog to get groomed here in August! Thank you so much and we now have our new go to groomer :) read more

Late post: When I first heard there was going to be a pet grooming place opening up on bay farm, I was so ecstatic. Of course there are worries for first time clients, but once you walk in, your anxieties dissipate as you're warmly welcomed by Nicholas himself. The place is quiet, clean, and modern, which made feel comfortable and at ease. He asked me questions about my pup and what services I needed. He thoroughly explained what I should expect after the session. He's also certified in massage therapy for dogs, which is really cool. He allowed me to stay and watch since I have an anxious dog. He also gave my pup a keratin treatment and oh my gosh, my pup was so silky smooth...it was amazing. Overall, He took really good care of my pup and was very knowledgeable! Extremely pleased with his service and very affordable! Really glad this placed opened up....need to make an appt for my next one! Shout out to my neighbor who recommended him to me. read more

Many thanks to Nicholas for helping my poor bun, Ziggy finally get a nail trim. OK, I don't have my own dog but I'm a dog godmother/grandma, dogmother? Anyway, so my friend's dog's comfort and care is quite important to me. Recently we had a tough visit due to the little guy being anxious at grooming visits and so Nicolas could not complete the job as he normally does. He was upfront about it, gave me some tips/suggestions and did not charge for the entire job. Still, my little guy was happy after and showed no signs of trauma or a bad visit which means Nicolas was still very patient and did not force the job knowing it could do more harm than help. I really really appreciate that and I know my friend does to. read more

Nicholas responded to my request for an appointment same day and gave me the # to text him at for a follow up on the next business day. We adopted our dog about six weeks ago and she's a bit anxious. She hadnt been letting us trim her nails at home and I was worried about taking her anywhere. Drummond's was the right choice. Nicholas met us out front and took her in. She was nervous but he immediately made her feel comfortable and took her off the leash. Ten minutes later, he brought her back out and we were headed home. I would highly recommend Nicholas and will be bringing my dog back. read more

5 stars isn't enough. My dog is a rescue and she's terrified of getting her nails trimmed, to a point where it seemed like the only option was sedation. We've tried a bunch of groomers as well as multiple vets, but no one has been successful until now. Nicholas was so kind and understanding, and he's been able to trim her nails multiple times without even needing a muzzle. I don't know how he does it. And she was a hot mess when I brought her in! My feisty dog Buddy usually needs medication but was totally fine getting his nails done without it in Drummond's very serene doggie spa (feels like a spa with the lovely waterfront view as well)!
