Brought my car here in April for an oil change and paid extra for the synthetic oil. I have a very short commute and don't drive a whole lot and started noticing lately that it's been running very weird and a lot of knocking. I brought it to my mechanic who told me there was NO OIL in the car!! I park in the same place at home and work so I would definitely know if I had a leak. I'm lucky my car isn't ruined and so is Sunoco. My mechanic just added oil and didn't charge me. Needless to say I will never go here again. read more

I have been very happy with the service that I received at Sunoco over the course of the last 2 months. I have always found that they communicated with me prior to starting repairs and that they were flexible with my schedule and my budget. Options were always clearly presented and I never felt pressure to have work done at their shop as opposed to the dealership. The service has always been excellent and they are happy to explain and show you what the problem is. They are also able to get the work done quickly and offer the use of a rental should you need it. I initially went to Sunoco for a state inspection and they detected a problem at that time that two previous dealerships had documented and ignored. I will return for all routine maintenance and trust them to do any future work on my car. read more

I was cleaning up a pile of papers and found a receipt for an oil change I received from Drum Hill Sunoco. It was for my 2007 BMW and I desperately needed to get the oil change and the dealer was booked for a couple of weeks. I called and asked what they normally charge and they claimed $80 which is about as much as the dealer charges. Against my better judgement I went with them. Here is what the receipt shows: synthetic oil change: 79.95 OIL FILTER : 29.00 0w40 mobil synthatic oil: qty 1.5 x 14 = 21 This adds up to 129.95 Then they added the following: HAZ. Disposal: 2.50 Shop Supply: 7.80 Sub total: 140.25 Sales tax: 8.61 Total 148.86 Then they proceeded to charge my credit card for $177.86 I would normally never let anyone get away with that but somehow I think I was simply under too much pressure at work or something. If the BMW dealer total cost is half the final charge I walked out with working with Drum Hill Sunoco, you tell me what kind of people they are? They will get reported to the better business bureau and the Federal Trade Commission and the Massachusetts consumer protection agency. And the statute of limitations for Massachusetts small claims court is 3 to 6 years depending on various circumstances so they will be losing money with me by the time I get through with them. I called to find out if it is a privately owned franchise or corporately owned and was told it is owned by the Sunoco corporation. Further research shows it is actually owned by Tarek Chehab. If you go to their website you will see the domain is for sale. How professional of them. http://www.drumhillsunoco.com Update: They have now been properly reported to the BBB, FTC and the Massachusetts Federal Trade Commission. I will be calling Tarek on Monday to demand a refund for the over charged portion of the bill and will be filing a small claim against him if he refuses. I went there for inspection , and they failed my car saying my front end has problems and asked me 300 dollars for fixing it. Thanks to yelp I gone through reviews here and I found it was scan , then I took my car to other inspection station and it passed. Be aware of this scam and don't come here for inspection. The Groupon was for a $13 oil change, and they tacked on an additional $11 in fees when my wife took the car in. Between 1 and 10, I rate this garage a SUCK... I brought my car there for brakes a few months ago. I got rotars too because I was told they needed to be done. Upselling is nothing new with garages and I never screw around with brakes so I was fine with it. Whatever... After the brakes were done, a noise started coming from my rear brakes every time I went over a bump. When I engaged the brakes/calipers the noise would instantly go away.. I brought the car back and they said there's nothing wrong with it. The owner told me he drove it around and there wasn't a noise. I told him to go for a ride with me and he heard it, but said it was the struts and I should get them done. He told me that he would give me a deal. Finally, I smartened up and got away from this shit show.... I brought it to another garage who showed me that the brakes are the problem and that while on the lift, you can reach over the tire and move them back and forth. I should of checked yelp beforehand. DO NOT GET OIL CHANGE GROUPON FOR THIS PLACE. I bought the groupon for oil change at this place ($39 for Three Full Service Oil Changes ($89.95 Value)) 1) There is no way you can use all 3 grouponS up to the expired date 2) When you get there for oil change you have to pay around $4-$5 additional fees for something I have no idea of. Basically it said $13 for per oil change on the Groupon deal but you'll have to pay additional fees. It turn out to be around $20 for oil change which I can get the same price at any other place. So why get the deal and you stuck with it. 3) I asked the mechanic guy what do I needs to tune up my car. He told me my rear Struts need to work on and the cost will be $450 for that. I was suspicious about it, so I went on online to do research for it. I found out that you only need to work on font/rear struts when your car reach around 100,000miles but my car is only 74,000. So I brought my car to the dealership where I trust. He told me my rear struts is fine. read more

Other than the guy being really nice and taking time to explain something he thought was wrong with my car (which he told, verbatim, to the next guy who came in..hmm).. I asked for a synthetic oil change and inspection. Came back 45 minutes later and they had done the inspection, but forgot the oil change. While waiting in the little sitting area, I noticed that synthetic oil wasn't on the price list. Ended up paying$90 for the oil change plus the inspection cost! I always get synthetic and I have never ever paid that much. Felt a little stupid after for not asking but how was I to know they would charge so much!? I can honestly say I won't go back there again. It was poorly organized, had to pay inside the gas station with a different guy who didn't really know what he was doing. Brought it to two mechanics who both said their was nothing wrong and they still refuse to put a sticker on it. Don't give these disreputable crooks your business. read more

I went in for an inspection sticker and when finished, the guy drove my truck around to pay for it and was smiling about giving me a Rejected Inspection Sticker and told me I shouldn't be driving the vehicle as far as the law is concerned and also informed me of a small leak in the exhaust system. I know my emergency brakes were working before and wouldn't be surprised if these guys sabotaged my brakes and possibly poked a hole in my exhaust system just to drum up business. I would stay clear of this station for anything to do with auto repair and don't trust your vehicle to these so called mechanics. I wouldn't of minded so much of the condition of the vehicle, but, the kicker was the guy telling me proudly he rejected my truck and the smile on his face seemed sadistic. I will take my truck to my regular mechanic and also repay him to place an inspection sticker knowing I will not get screwed over $35.00 bucks. A good mechanic is priceless and people like these guys shouldn't be in business to just rip people off and sabotage vehicles coming in to get more business. WARNING - YOU WILL PAY A HIGH PRICE AT THIS PLACE FOR THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS!!! The best mechanic I found who is trustworthy is in medford, ma. at mallet automotive. The owners name is Ed Mallet and he is the best and will not screw you. He loves what he does and is worth the distance. AN AWESOME PLACE! I have been going to Drum Hill Sunoco for over 10 years! I recommend them to all of my friends and family and they always have received great service. I just had a major problem with my car and they went way above and beyond what needed to be done. I was blown away by the amazing, efficient, gracious and most of all, HONEST experience I had (and have always had) with Sunoco! My husbands car is being fixed right now and I just got off the phone with the owner. The price he quoted is beyond fair and he explained exactly what needs to be done, as he always does prior to doing any work. Adam, who runs the service desk is very, polite and is always extremely helpful. The mechanics and the people who work inside have been there for years and that is very telling of what type of business this is. Please... Do NOT believe the poor ratings below! I went into this place to get my car inspected before heading on vacation. They rejected it and told me I needed 4 new tires. I do know that my tires were not in the best shape and not being knowledgeable in the "tire area" i was willing to accept this and had them put 4 new tires on (safety first right?). Well, as soon as I drove away the tire pressure light came on. I went back and told them. They told me that the wick (not sure of the name but the thing you put the air into to fill the tire) was back on none of the tires and needed to be replaced. So i paid another $90 for that. As soon as I drove away it happened again. I have taken it back 3 times and they have been unable to fix it nor would they reimburse me for what I felt was either done wrong or not needed in the first place. To make it worse they refused to return my phone calls and would let me sit in the "waiting area" forever ignoring me. I will never do business with them again. read more

I took my Infiniti to Drum Hill Sunoco. They were very professional and took their time explaining the issue with regard to my car. They were able to repair it quickly and gave me an excellent price. Worst place to get an inspection ! But I'm the idiot that fell for their bull crap! I've had no problems getting inspections in the past. Overpriced and paid for everything just for them to pass me in November and when they finished and passed me I left and I knew prior to my inspection I had a break light out and they never fixed that and still passed it and did not have a side mirror which they said they would order and pop it on when they received it because I work so close to them. I went to my car guy after the inspection and told me I got screwed and would have passed without spending the money to do what they said to fix it . They played me . I gave them my number expecting a call within 2 weeks at least . I've now been waiting for over a month and have called to check on the status and just hearing I will call you when it's ready. So not only do they suck but they passed my car inspection when they should not have because of break light being out and for a side mirror not being on my car which is a safety issue. Not impressed and I called today to ask about the mirror and the owner will apparently call me back. Never going there again not even for gas. I would rather break down on the side of the road then deal with this ever again! So disgusted! Very unprofessional business and should be shut down for passing a car and saying they would fix any safety issues and then not fix it . I went to Drumhill Sunoco in Chelmsford, MA to get my vehicle inspected. The car did not pass inspection, it needed two tires, a right inner tie rod and new wipers according to the report. He asks if I'd like an estimate on the repair because they could take care of it there. Being that I have a very skilled mechanic... in my family I declined. I take the car to my broher's shop he agrees with tires and wipers... He then has 4 of his top staff shake down the tie rod and find nothing wrong with it. PO'd at this point I take it to another Mass inspection place and the inspector there shakes down the tie rod and said he would pass it. I'm furious. I go back to the original inspection place, having replaced the tires and wipers, I demand the manager. I say to this a-hole that if he doesn't pass the tie rod I will have the DOT, the RMV and the State Police down here because I feel you were trying to get me to pay for work I did not need. Da da da da da da... the tie rod passes and he had the nerve to tell me he still thinks it shouldn't have passed. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

There should have been a zero star to give this business unfortunately minimum is one star which they don't deserve. They some how make a point to fail your vehicle for inspection. Once they did not find anything mechanical then said my wiper blades were not good. Thanks god this thing I could see with my bare eyes. Not really that bad. they wanted to charge me $75 from replacing both. I declined and they gave me a failed sticker. next day I bought wiper blades from Autozone; they replaced them free. Came back to Sunnoco and got the inspection sticker. They just wanted to reap me off. Shame on them for harassing people. read more

I recently had my oil changed here after having not been here in a while and the same thing happened as happened a couple of years ago in that they tried to sell me on additional services that I didn't need. What's more appalling is that I took my car to a more reputable service/repair shop and they verified that even though I would eventually need brakes, my rear brakes worked fine and their was no immediate safety issue. Trust is the most important aspect of a good service provider and they lost my trust and that of my family. Stay away!! read more

Don't get ripped off. Being in the rush I was, I thought I was lucky when I came across this place realizing I was 1,200 miles overdue for an oil change. I was quite unhappy after doing business with this place. $42 for a regular oil change seemed ridiculous for the ~35-40 minutes I had to wait. Then when I wanted to leave the man at the desk tried to convince me that I needed new front and rear struts, as well as a new serpentine belt. I was picking up a weird vibe from their employees, the unknowledgeable front desk person and their shady looking technicians waved a red flag in my book. Before leaving he told me the serpentine belt would cost $100 and the struts would cost $1100. Obviously this seemed important, so I considered what he said and took my car to a trusted mechanic. The place I later took my car to isn't notorious for the greatest prices, but they do know how to do clean, honest business. Turns out I did NOT need a new serpentine belt. I did need new struts, however, which he estimated to be around $300, total. I would have wasted a hard earned $800 if I took my car to this Sunoco. That's why I'm not happy. Maybe they tried to scam me because I'm young? Maybe. I'm barely an adult now but I work for everything I own. While they say ignorance is bliss, please, don't let these guys fool you. Unfortunately they really are entitled to no stars! Went to get my inspection sticker, but they rejected me. Why? For something I just had checked on 12/22/09 when I got new tires. You see they reject everybody for mechanical problems because the registry doesn't see those issues and they can't reject you for things relevant to the computer. They claimed I needed lower ball joints, that they had a little play. I told them they are supposed to, no there not they said. I went back to the mechanics who performed the front end alignment, which would have been impossible if I had bad lower ball joints and got the actual reading of movement. The maximum play amount is .032, mine were .021 & .020, which was gauged by a front end alignment machine. I went back and showed them the actual readings, but they said they would test them by lying on the ground and shaking it, their type of gauging. They said the machine was wrong, they have it at .037, but they would give me the sticker anyway. 85% of these inspection locations for mechanical work is by rejecting you for mechanical issues that are just not true. Don't go there for any kind of work, since they have no problem lying to you about what is actual wrong with you vehicle. I am a woman, so they just assume I'm dumb. these place is totally a rip off. do not go there! they will tell you that so many things are wrong with the car specially if you are in for car inspection. do not inspect your car at these place. forget about buying car tires they said the tire are guaranteed for 5 years but they never back it up try to sell you another one. I had to go in 3 times for a flat time. 1st they changed the air plug charged me 20$ and next day they said the sensor was bad and finality said tire is bad. and this tire was new and installed by same people 12 months ago. they told me i needed a new break and a new oil pan which there not true. I took the car to KIA dealer and I was told nothing was wrong with oil pan and breaks had %80 meat left on them. soon. I am gathering all the documentation to proof to them they can not do these to Innocent people. I do understand some Arabic language and these people say some nasty thing about the customer while taking to themselves. finally if you want to waste your money and a get a shitty service this the place to go. I went here on recommendation from a mobile mechanic who replaced a part on my mercedes and needed to reset the codes.The sunoco guy charged me $80 and did nothing. While i wanted to ask mechanic some other issue's the owner asked me to stand away from my car while the mechanic was running diagnostics ( sleazy!). Besides from being rude the whole time, he later asked me to replace the break light switch which was already replaced and needed a reset. I told him that it doesn't then said he would have to diagnose and didn't know how much time it would take. BTW he said he charges $90/hr. So i walked away really annoyed from there as he charged me $80 never did anything on the car.Took to another mechanic in lowell and told him the story asked him to reset the codes. This place does not deserve even 1 star. I called ahead for an oil change. I provided the car info. I said I would bring my own oil and asked for a quote. He said it would cost $19.95 for the labor cost, and extra $3 for the filter. I brought my car to the store. They said it would take about $15 mins. I went inside the convenience store and waited. Then another guy came to me and said that they had to charged either $35 or $18 extra for the filter. I was shocked and confused. I said the other guy had told me that the filter would have costed only $3. The new guy said the other guy had made a Mistake. Then he asked for my info again. I said the other one had taken my info. The new guy said the other one made another mistake for not saving my info in the system. I was like....F$*# you...in my mind. This is the most horrible oil change experience I has had so far. Sorry to see the poor reviews for them. I always have a good experience here. I get an oil change and tire rotation every 5,000 miles for about 5 years. They tell me if I need to have something looked at or fixed, like brakes, but I have never felt pressured to do it immediately. When they said my brakes needed repair, I took the van to my mechanic and had him do it. It needed to be done and I appreciated the heads up. They allow me to use the expired coupons on their website, too. They are not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. I am always out in about 15-20 minutes and the staff are always pleasant to me. I usually get my inspection sticker here too and have never had an issue. I did see the Groupon and thought it was poorly worded, so I didn't bother to buy it. It seemed like you would only be able to get one oil change before it expired, and since I always have my tires rotated too, it wasn't worth the price. read more

I went here recently for my safety inspection because they are open on Saturday. they told me that it failed for wipers and tires and that they could replace them while I waited. I told them I preferred to do my auto service at a different location so I would just take the car without the repairs. When I got in the car I tested the wipers with the washer fluid and saw what I would describe as good wipers so I asked the owner/manager to come and take a look at it. He said it was streaky and my response was "are you kidding me". I have been doing state inspections in MA for about 40 years and have never heard this line before. He said he would let it go. I asked him which tires were bad and he said the rear. I took the car home so I could get a good look at the tires. None of the wear bars were contacting the road so it should have been a pass. Some of the wear bars were close however so I opted to buy 2 new rear tires at my tire place and I decided to keep the old tires. I went back to Drum Hill Sunoco to get my reinspection which I passed. Then I asked the owner/manager to have a look at the 2 tires which they had failed which I had in my trunk. I asked him to show me where the wear bars were contacting the road. He looked carefully and could not find a spot where the tread was worn to the wear bar and said if these tires were on the car it would have been a pass. I assured him these were the tires on the car when it was inspected. I told him I didn't appreciate having to drive a week with the red rejection sticker on my car when there was no problem with my car. I told him i could have been stopped and cited and had my car towed all for no reason. I asked him to please talk with his inspectors since this type of inspection is not appreciated by customers. He told me that he is not in the habit of failing cars in order to get business for service. My advice for anyone getting their car inspected is to ask them to show you each violation they find with a critical eye since it might not actually be a violation read more
