Had issues with EVERYTHING after purchase went through - care was delivered MUCH later than promised, unable to get title/registration completed prior to temp tag expiring due to Driveway not submitting in timely manner. Unable to get title sent to us when requested although we live in a title holding state. Any time we called and attempted to get a person to assist or a time frame for assistance were given the run around. There seems to be NO SUPERVISOR or person of authority anywhere to assist and actually follow through with concerns. DO NOT BUY A CAR OR FINANCE with this company. This company makes all transactions with them very difficult to overcharge fees. A payment thru bank takes fifteen days and to give the title after a payoff takes 30 days. My husband's and I expereince: 1) Paid the car off - immediately all of our information on our online account was wiped clean. 2) Called and gave them our change of address as we were moving out of state - told we would receive everything in the mail, title and other letters within in 30 days 3) 2 months later, called and asked where our title and other documents were - told it was released to the DMV (never had a title released to the DMV in the past. Was always directly mailed to us by the finance company). Odd, but okay 4) Called DMV, they told us they mailed it to us to our old address, as that was the address Driveway sent to the DMV. Told we had to pay fees to get a replacement title sent to us. 5) Called Driveway again. Told to give it another 30 days, as the DMV is taking care of it. 6) Called DMV again, no updates. 7) Called Driveway again - learned from a very helpful customer service agent that our new address was STILL not updated. Updated in the system. Asked if the DMV will also receive all the other required documents in addition to the title. She told me no, Driveway directly mails those other documents to us. Told her never received. She said she would have them mailed out. Still have not received them. 8) Called the DMV - found a new error from Driveway - they put my husband's name as the leasee, and that I am leasing the car from my husband. Now we have to go through more paperwork with the out of state dmv, to release my husband's name and put Driveway's name down, so we can a) have the correct information on the title, and b) get the damn title. 9) This has been ongoing for 4 months. We have gotten the run around so many times from Driveway, my stickers on my out of state plates are expiring and I have no title to register my car in the new state we live. So now I'm forced to drive with expired plates for up to 30 days, hopefully not longer if there are no more issues. Avoid Driveway like the plague! read more

As of today 11/22/24 I no longer have to deal with this horrendous company. Good riddance. I refinanced to a company that will allow me to pay on my principle at any time :) If anyone is considering refinancing to get out of this trap, DO IT!! Update 11/15/24: apparently the system has updated and they can no longer apply principle payments over the phone. They informed me the over payment would show on my next month's payment lowering my monthly amount due. That is not how it should work if it's automatically applying to principle. My next month's payment should stay the same and my over payment should be applied to the principle simple as that. Update 10/16/24: my paper statements no longer include the current principle amount of my loan, only the amount I've financed. While I can see the amount online I wonder why it is no longer sent with our statements. This company keeps getting shadier and shadier. Update 8/23/24: cannot pay my car payment on the website or phone app, both say they're being maintenanced. I tried calling and using the automated system to try to pay that way. Tried typing in the account number and it tells me "not recognized. Goodbye" and hangs up. After 7 tries it finally worked. Now waiting on the everlasting hold to have the extra go to my principle amount since this company will still only allow that if you call and request. Original review: As someone who works in banking this company is a joke. If you pay extra on your monthly payment you have to call them every single month to have them put the extra on the principal. If you don't call them the extra will just go towards your next payment. Customer service is genuinely garbage. You press whatever number to talk to them and then it's just hold music until finally someone picks up. Could be 2 minutes could be 20 you'll just have to find out. I gave Driveway one star but it should be zero. You can't get valid answers to questions like how long after payoff until I get my title. I was told fastest way to make payoff was via wire transfer but quickest way to get title is by using mail and cashier check to make payoff (clearly mail process with check is much longer process). Was given a PO box address for payoff which I am trying to send via FED-EX and most people know FED-EX must have physical address. Happy to be paying off and will NEVER do business with them again. read more

Once I placed all of my information into the website, there was an error message and it prompted me to call their 800 number. Called earlier today and had to hang up after being on hold for 32 minutes. My wife is currently on hold now to see if we can talk to a human. She has been on hold going on ten minutes. They are the worse!! 1) They don't accept principal payments. Any payments made over a regular payment, interest is deducted first then the remainder is applied towards the loan. 2) The highest payment they will accept at one time, within a 96 hours period, is $9,999.99. Per Elk Grove Ford, our auto loan was supposed to be with BofA (a reputable lending institution) and it somehow ended up with this ridiculous lender. 3) They don't provide payoff quotes. You have to create a login to your account then print the payoff quote yourself. I'm sure they have many, many more faults, but these are just the ones I have experienced, so far. read more

A cashier's check of $8500 was mailed to their address and they are still claiming that they have not received my payment even after the USPS tracking show that the checks have been received and delivered. Scam. I tried twice to pay off my loan using a check sent directly from the bank. I refinanced to get away from them. If you look on their website, the FAQ lists the payoff address in Texas. When you click on the payoff quote, they claim there is a different payoff address, but there isn't. I sent one check for a payoff to Texas, but they never cashed. The second was sent again by certified mail and signed for. They claimed it could take four or more days to post the check because they had to get it from their Texas vendor. Then, because it took more than 6 weeks to do all this, I'd made two payments and the check was now for more than the payoff. They told me I would have to wait 6-8 weeks for a refund of the overpayment. Will they be sending me anything for my trouble...no! Do not use them. read more

I got a letter from Driveway Finance stating I was rejected for a loan application because of 1. a fraud alert 2. no credit file and 3. unable to verify my identity. Yet, they mailed the letter to my home. I purchased a new Honda only a month ago through Honda and was approved in 5 minutes. I've had an AMEX gold card for 30 years. I've owner homes and investment properties. The person on the phone couldn't tell me what the letter is about or why I was rejected. They would not help me determine who applied in my name. They said file a police report. This is "customer service" today... total indifference to their own process and to how it affects people. Pathetic. read more

On multiple occasions I've had issues with this company and regret having any association with them. I had a payment returned that they claimed was due to the wrong routing number, which was untrue and confirmed during a call when I called in to pay the bill. They refused to waive the fee and blamed me for a matter that was confirmed to be on their end. The employee I talked with cut me off multiple times and told me he was right and I was wrong to the point a supervisor had to get involved, but upon speaking to a supervisor I was told the employee was incorrect and needed to be informed on how to handle a situation like this. They take forever to cash a check if they do at all. There must be great profit in late fees. My first payment took 13 days to be paid. Now I await seeing my second payment paid and it's been 11 days and no clearance and BofA is on top of all of my transactions. From the reviews I've read, not even a total payoff can be mishandled. I have had to call multiple times to request my principle payments be applied correctly, they did it wrong, and yet they refuse to communicate to me when this is resolved. The biggest mistake of my life was purchasing a vehicle through this company. They don't deserve one star. Calling them is worse than willfully calling an Indian scam call center and handing over your bank information and social security number. No exaggeration. They do NOT respond to calls, emails, smoke signals, carrier pigeons, etc. They SAY they will but they don't, EVER! I've had to temporarily leave my job due to the ongoing stress from day one when I picked up the vehicle which came from out of state. I was told to pick up at one location but they were mistaken and at another location 5 miles away. They were 2 hours late also. I unfortunately had my babies and their car seats with me, plus my diaper bag and purse. Was so happy to lug that plus kids around in the triple digit heat for 2 hours. That's the least of the issues! While driving the vehicle home, in Los Angeles traffic, the breaks barely worked. I had to stand to push the break pedal to the floor. The following day my husband removed the tires to check out the breaks and noticed that the tires were just as unsafe as the breaks. I've contacted Driveway every weekday for 6 hours each day for the past 5 weeks. On the rare occasion I finally got ahold of someone at the the company I was talked down to, told to "shut up and listen." Told that "the vehicle is sold as-is and it's not their responsibility to make sure breaks and tires pass safety because it's high mileage." The mileage of the vehicle has nothing to do with the necessity for functioning breaks and safe tires. There's a federal guideline for these things so that statement is untrue. I STILL don't have plates/tags for the vehicle 5 weeks later nor will anyone tell me what's going on. The only thing I do know is it's not been transferred to the CA DMV, they have no record of the vehicle. I have spread the message far and wide to everyone I know and strangers too to avoid Driveway/ Lithia like the plague & to sell any stock immediately. read more
