driveshaft made backwards Note harmonic balancing size

I can not say that I am happy thus the 1 star review. I came to this shop ( I live in SA) with a vibration and hum that 5 star mechanic ( Maximum Offroad Performance) first diagnosed in LAS VEGAS . They just could not get me into repair it during my stay. I had a pretty good clue what the issue was. I paid for 2 new complete driveshafts for my 2003 Ford Excursion March 2021. I left with a bigger vibration and harmonic hum that always began at 45mph and NEVER went away. Imagine driving where you cant drown out a vibration noise with a radio!!!! $550 FOR BOTH INSTALLED. Called shop back. They said try u-joints on axle shafts. Great more money to spend!!!! I Took truck to 5 star yelp mechanic in San Antonio. They checked all u joints said nope.... it is probably the torque convertor in transmission since I had the driveshafts REPLACED. $4k please to change for new transmission. JUST GREAT!!! Suggested replacement transmission parts provider doesn't have great reviews for the 4r100 so went shopping for the best one since I only wanted to do this once. I drove truck to Brian Truck Shop JULY 2021 in Arkansas to get the best 4r100 transmission. Brian spent 30 mins with me driving the truck.... . He didn't ask what I had done to the truck, nothing. He didn't want to know. He didn't want any biased information. HE didn't hook it up to a computer, he didn't check under the truck. He listened to my concerns, wanted the truck to basically "tell him what was wrong" while we drove it through its paces. he then started asking questions. Then the first words out of his mouth was this is a "DRIVESHAFT" issue. I argued I took it to the "best" shop in SA. We drove it back to Brain's shop to discover ---- Rear Driveshaft made completely backwards...... and with incorrect harmonic balancer size. He says they don't make these driveshafts anymore and should always be salvaged not entirely replaced. I'm clueless.... He is not. He showed me 3 other excursions on the lot all driveshafts are mounted 180 degrees different than mine and the harmonic balancers are HUGE!!! He tells his mechanic to reverse the install.... well.... can NOT DO it! So custom driveshaft made backwards!!!!. And he can't believe they did not use facotry driveshaft as a donor... and he keeps showing me how much I paid for this custom HUMmer driveshaft. We took of rear driveshaft drove down the road again in 4wd with only the front axles attached! Vibration and hum gone after 3 months of this nightmare. Problem diagnosed FREE of charge!!!! But driving back home on just the front 4WD not recommended... He tells me he will take care of everything. His plan of action is to go to a junkyard to find a donor driveshaft from a comparable f250. He then schedules an appointment for me with a driveshaft company near him. We scrap the "NEW" driveshaft to help reduce costs. $200 later 80+mph NO HUM.... and driveshaft ready to handle the new BTS r4100 tranny. My drive no longer feels like the old vibrating hotel beds and I can HEAR people talk from the back 3rd row. I was referred to Driveshaft Specialist from numerous local SA mechanics. They must do good work. I Just don't have the same experience with them. I did contact hem within 5 mins of driving it off the lot to express my concerns of the 45 MPH vibration that doesn't disappear and that is when they said check axle U joints... They had the opportunity to double check work provided. They just failed to follow through. I did not contact them to make it right a third time. And when you have a veteran mechanic such as Brian that has been published in nearly every known performance magazine for DECADES telling you this is a rookie mistake all around, just rubs a man the wrong way. Only advice I can provide this company is CHECK YOUR WORK before you let things leave your shop!!!! Or don't take the work if you just DONT know how to work on big trucks.

I found my new auto repair shop in San Antonio!…read more I requested a quote early on a Tuesday morning for battery install service. I had purchased a replacement battery, but needed install assistance since the battery sits behind my driver side wheel. The owner, Kareem, responded *immediately* with shop location, hours, and the number to reach the shop manager, Jacob, to discuss specifics. Very friendly and engaging interaction with the owner. I gave Jacob a call, and he gave me a very reasonable quote and best time to come in for service. He even gave me knowledgeable recommendations for the best battery to buy for my vehicle, and he was *on-point* because it was the same brand I bought after researching with glowing reviews (Interstate). When I arrived, Jacob not only greeted me kindly but offered water and the TV remote while I waited for my battery to be switched out. I saw a sparkling clean restroom for customers, as well. I was in and out in 30 minutes or less. From the owner to the manager to the pricing to the excellent service (I believe Connor worked on my vehicle) - they have truly earned my business!

I found Triage Automotive using Yelp Projects late at night. Triage was first to reply very early…read morein the morning, which was surprising to me because I had not expected such an early or quick response. Since I knew, in general, what the issue was going to be, I explained the issue, and we made arrangements for me to being my pickup truck in for a free diagnostic. Mind you, the sun hadn't already come up yet, and Triage was open and running already. The auto shop is tucked away off Bitters Rd between several other speciality garages. The waiting area was a clean and friendly with a wide window looking into the garage where you can see the mechanics at work. There were amenities such as bags of snacks, coffee, a water cooler, and a television. They had immediate availability and were quick to confidently diagnose the exact issue showing me the problem. A quote for the part I needed, as well as the removal and replacement of said part, was written up, and the owner offered to drive me to home or work while the repair was performed. I took him up on it, and he's a great guy. Keep in mind, all of this happened before other auto shops even opened for the day! Jacob, the manager and mechanic who worked on my vehicle serviced it promptly, letting me know status periodically. Since it was a reasonably simple repair, Jacob picked me up early that afternoon to take me back to the shop and finalize the service. My pickup was repaired, and I was back on the road before any other auto shops had even answered my Yelp Projects inquiry. The shop I had previously used for service had scheduled me three days out. As someone who does mechanic work myself and relies on my vehicle, I can confidently say Triage's expertise and urgency in getting me back on the road kept my business running with minimum downtime. The price was fantastic on labor too. Very competitive. I will be recommending them in the future for sure!

Not a repair I can do from home on this truck so it was off to Yelp Projects to get a quote for service on a worst-case scenario repair. Mark from Mendo Motorz contacted me back and did just that. I spoke with him on the phone and we went over what I tried and what it might be, and I was satisfied enough to have my vehicle towed in that afternoon. Knowing that my business depends on my vehicle running, they verified my suspicions before closing and Mark let me know that it would take a couple hours to fix come morning. Sure enough, it was ready before noon the next day, and considering a fuel pump replacement on my F150 requires dropping the fuel tank to do, it was a very quick turn around! The quality of the work was superb and communication was excellent the whole way through. The price for parts and labor was also well below some of the other quotes I was given which was only icing the cake! There is a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on parts and labor, but I'm sure it won't be an issue. Top notch garage. I would recommend them to anybody.
