Firstly, the fact that the CO DMV doesn't offer driving tests and forces you to pay a private company for them is ridiculous! $115 after all the other expenses for a new driver is painful. But, that's not this company's fault, just don't agree w the policy. As we called to find out details on getting the test done, we unfortunately got a very rude and uncaring person on the phone. I tried to ask questions and only got 'stiff' answers, just trying to get the sale and get me off the phone. Didn't sit well that's for sure!! If she was my only encounter with their staff I'd not recommend this place to anyone. (Now, as I sit in their lobby waiting for my son to finish his test, I'm listening to an incredibly kind, polite and friendly lady answering the phones and wish we'd gotten her for the original call.) They seem to be efficient, friendly and calm as I listen to their instructors greet the kids and head out. Seems like they're getting the right personality types for this line of work! Now, just waiting and praying for a pass on my boy's test and we won't have to be back until my next son is ready to take his. So, he fails the test based on questionable calls. Stopping completely at a stop sign, then creeping out so he can see around the blind spot...marked for not stopping completely. ‍ Now, after $115 there's no retest, but you have to pay another $65!?!? Forgot to renew my license and had to retake a driving test. I chose this location because it's close. Josh was the examiner and was very professional yet friendly. I didn't feel as nervous because I've driven for years but there's still some stress beforehand. Josh helped me feel I was a confident driver and that made me more relaxed. -DF read more

This a great place to learn how to drive. I came hear the last week to complete my driving training. My instructor Jake Dinwiddie was awesome he always found ways to make drive training super fun. This is the second time using this location. Both times the scheduler has incorrectly input the schedule we agreed to verbally. This last time we showed up for a lesson and it was listed for a test. I asked what would happen if we took the test and failed. They said the package I bought comes with two tests - ok then let's try the test. The student failed the test. No big deal, we rescheduled the correct lesson and a future test. The student passed and we went to the dmv. The dmv told us that we were going to be charged extra ($50) because she failed the test. The drive school messed up the schedule, No one at the drive school told us that if she failed the test that there could be potentially added fees at the dmv. If they did, then we wouldn't have taken the test that day. My other big problem with this school is they don't take the drivers test on any highway. This is so important where we live and is a big gap in their system. read more

We paid for our son to have driving lessons with an instructor and scheduled his first drive. He got a fever the evening before so I called to cancel the appointment. When I tried to reschedule, they refused to do so without collecting a $50 cancellation fee citing a policy that only allows for weather related cancellations. The manager refused to make an exception and argued "every other business there is also requires a late fee within 24 hours." So they don't want our kids to drive in bad weather but they do want them to drive with an instructor they employ inside a vehicle when they are sick and contagious. Among the most ridiculous policies I've ever heard of and contrary to common sense. Change your policies & protect your employees, customers and others!!! I'm furious. Awaiting a call from a district manager on Monday, we will see if that call actually comes in. read more

Horrible experience did nothing to help me study or anything just didn't care wanted me to get in and out of there business

I reached out to Drive Safe nearly three years ago to take a private drivers licensing test. I paid the company $60 plus and the failed me, kept my money and I left with not even a receipt. I failed the exam because while driving through a school zone I began to accelerate once I was less than 60 feet away from the end of school zone sign. My speed increased by 2-3 miles. No matter how well I did on the rest of the exam, this automatically failed me. I am writing this review because the same thing happened to my brother, three years later. He had a perfect exam, they brought him to their "trap", failed him and took his money. Of course, not without an invitation to pay more and test again. I think it is important for everyone to know how systemic their scheme is. The DMV does not test in this way. Their are no systemic and deliberate attempts to prompt an automatic fail. This is a scheme. If you so choose to give this shady agency your money. Don't fall for their school zone trap. Do not change your speed until the end sign is at least several feet behind you. Approach with skepticism. read more

The virtual class was very engaging and kept my son's interest throughout (not an easy thing to do). The instructors nailed the virtual learning. It was also easy to schedule an on-site permit test to complete the process. The instructors were great, customer service was wonderful and we're looking forward to getting an official permit. The overall program has been fantastic! One piece of advice to families...schedule your permit meeting at the DMV as soon as possible. Given the reduced number of appointments it can take over a month to get in. read more

I used Drivesafe previously and found them great to work with. Currently however they are significantly understaffed and cannot meet the demand from people who have prepaid for their services. We called to day to make a booking and were told that the Highlands Ranch site has absolutely no slots until the end of September (is is mid-June now) and there are no days open at other sites. The staff acknowledges that this is wrong but there is little they can do about it until their management hires more examiners and testers. Meanwhile having already prepaid for both lesson and test we are stuck in their queue. If you go to their website now they are more than happy to accept new students with no mention of their inability to provide the service within the next three months. I did ask to speak to someone in the decision process - be it franchise owner or someone from corporate - and was told that the employees have no idea how to put me in touch with such a person. DriveSafe provided us with a 2-hour lesson & a drive test the following day. We only needed this limited service because our daughter had been driving for over 2 years with her permit- she just wasn't anxious to get her license. DriveSafe did a terrific job. The 2-hour lesson was informative & gave her the confidence to take the test the next day. She easily passed her test. DriveSafe's instructor & testing agent were professional, kind, & informative. The school seemed very busy, but they were organized & ready for our appointments. The central phone number/booking agents were also top notch. We had trouble finding the Highlands Ranch location & they assisted us & called the location to let them know we were running late. I recommend DriveSafe to anyone needing drivers training/testing services. read more

Drive Safe does not have enough classes for their Defensive Driving course. Unfortunately, they do not tell you to schedule it at least two months out. In addition, plan to drive 30 minutes to take the class. read more

A DriveSafe driving test instructor told my son during his driver's test to turn the wrong way down a one way street. The instructor did not admit to this during his evaluation of my son's drive. My son insisted that he was told to turn the wrong way down the street. After I filed a complaint and talked to the Highlands Ranch manager, she reviewed the video from cameras inside and outside of their vehicle. The video revealed that the instructor did in fact tell my son to turn down the street the wrong way. Although my son did not complete the turn down the one way street (it was in an apartment complex - not a busy "downtown" street) and corrected and went straight, she failed him even though the rest of his drivers test was almost perfect. He was able to pass the test easily the following day, but when we went to get his license, the DMV charged me an additional fee for having to take the driver's test twice. The instructor did NOT take ownership of her mistake until she saw the video. My son felt that the request of the instructor to turn the wrong way down the one way was a type of "trick question". Very disappointed in this instructor. DriveSafe said they will be re-training the instructor. It was a bad experience for me and a terrible one for my son. read more
