There were only 3 other people in the office. I was helped in less than a minute! The employee who helped me (from Long Island, NY) was pleasant, funny and efficient. Everything was in order and was simple to do. I wrote a check to save the percent charged on credit card transactions. I also asked about which hurricane evacuation sticker (#) was registered to my vehicle and she kindly wrote down the bar code (yay! it matched!). There was another customer who was being turned away because they neither owned property in Monroe County nor were a Monroe County resident. This office only serves the folks of Monroe County. Even after explaining that I had driven over an hour to get there and they can see that my driver license address is not from this county, there was no effort to assist or provide guidance, which felt very dismissive and unwelcoming. If this location closes earlier than advertised or does not accept walk-ins, the website should clearly state that so people don't waste their time driving long distances. That kind of behavior has no place at the DMV, where staff should remain neutral and respectful.
