This driver licensing business like most of them have like a thousand people waiting in line and rude workers that are on a power trip. My experience was as expected. I get there early, wait in line for 20 min not knowing which line was for what and then for the rude worker to tell me I'm in the wrong line and I have to go all the way to the back. Then tell me after to come back another day after waiting 30 min. There has to be a better system. When I left I had a better experience in the South Dade location. Decided to do a walk in at this DMV to renew my license since I needed a last-minute name change. Read some reviews talking about how they try to get everybody for walkins, but I had a TERRIBLE experience at this location. Got there as early as 2am (pictured) and was the fifth in line waiting for the place to open. There was a man in front of me who has been waiting there since 4 PM the day before. By 7am the line was HUGE over 60 people and two ladies finally come to give everybody tickets. This lady (pictured) began giving out tickets starting at the END of the line, as in the people who had just got in there got the first spots. The woman (pictured) refused to listen to us even though there were people who stayed overnight getting the last tickets because they decided to go backwards in order for some reason. I was a walk in and was able to renew my license. Nancy took care of me and was super nice and such a calming presence. They do keep the line moving which was awesome and productive. My only issue was witnessing a cashier speaking to another customer with such disrespect just because he didn't speak English. After a two second interaction she even smacked the glass where there was sign that said she's the cashier with such frustration it made a loud noise everyone looked over. It was just a language barrier.... There are plenty of people that work there that speak Spanish, she could've easily asked for an interpreter and it would have taken the same amount of time as her tantrum. I understand it is a fast paced environment but let's not forget about human decency. read more

The line was there as expected, moved quickly early before opening time, number was given wait time was not long, driver's license information was scanned and it took less than 2 hours and the staff was pleasant. I was told to pack patience an expect really long lines but both service, & line moved quickly. I'm including info that may be useful for people as it's hard to find definitive info specifically for relocating to FL from another state. In FL, the Motor Vehicles Agency (MVA) issue driver licenses and anything related to that. To register or get license plates/tags, you have to go to another tag/titling agency, not the MVA. Many are run by individual proprietors and process taxes as well. -You should get an appt for MVA services online. If you try to do a walk in - you will be waiting in line for hours and may end up out of luck. -Online appts- keep trying and refreshing the appt browser until you get an appt, look at other offices in less busy areas if you are desperate. I had to keep checking the site multiple times every day for 3 weeks before I found an appt slot a month in the future! Once you get a confirmed appt, you will get an email initially then a day or 2 before the appt date. Print it out and bring it if possible. I saw people having difficulty showing their phone/email to staff. -Bring all your documents. Look online for the required documents. Save yourself and the office stress by being prepared. If it says 2 documents to prove your address, bring them. Don't think you will get away with trying to produce a random document that doesn't have your name and address clearly printed.. think utility bills, credit card, insurance, pay check, 401k docs with your name and address. -There are no forms to fill out ahead of time, the staff fill out everything for you based on the situation. They enter in the info and you can validate on a screen to make sure everything is correct -Free parking but it gets pretty full but I was able to find a spot on a Monday morning. I arrived at 9: 20 and the walk in line was already long -There are 2 lines extending right and left from the entrance. One is for walk ins and the other is for appointments. Make sure you are in the correct line. The line that is on the left (if you are facing the building from the parking lot) is the appointment line. The walk in line had people waiting in the sun. The appointment line was under the building's awning so at least not directly exposed to the sun -There is an employee that checks and will stack you in the order needed based on the appointment time. For reference, when I arrived, 5 people were in front of me. I got into the building about 15 minutes later. (appointment line) -Once inside, you get assigned a number and there is a TV monitor w/ the number and station you should go to. They are also very good about calling out the number out loud. -For the Driver's license at least, I submitted my paperwork, they scan them, vision test, sign a few things, take your photo and then you to go another line for the cashier, pay, and get your license the same day -The entire process with an appointment including waiting in line took about 1 1/2 hour -Once inside, there are chairs and a few vending machines. Room is air conditioned and comfortable. Only feedback is the staff should consider clearly marking the appt vs walk in lines and information on signs. That way, people would not need to keep asking them or asking each other and would avoid some stress. Additionally, it would be nice to provide alcohol or wipes to sanitize the machines for vision testing. This location was surprisingly well run for a MVA (compared to the horribly inefficient Kendall branch) and the staff communicated clearly (English and Spanish) and were professional and helpful. I know a 4 star is highly unusual for a MVA government office, but compared to the lack of care or logic at other branches, this one was good as long as you are educated about what to expect. read more

I will be contacting the better business bureau and state of florida to present a case of racketeering. State worker on site says that the state requires you to make an appointment. They are making exceptions with walk ins. I waited 3 hours in a walk in line to REPLACE a drivers license that had been lost/stolen. The state is requiring to make an appointment for 2 months out to replace license and risk being charged with driving w/o license to be ticketed and then go to hearing to present license that isn't readily available is racketeering. This is a game and it is against the law no matter who is doing it. I waited 3 hours in a line and wasn't able to wait any longer because I had to pick up my child from school. The representative that was on site said walkins start at 8-9. I come at 8 they are still not letting walk-ins in the building. They are calling out people with suspended licenses out the line because I'm sure those services render more profit. This is a sham and it needs to be stated and rectified. Definitely contacting BBB. Also the representative very rude and inconsiderate, they are giving instructions to walk in customers solely in Spanish. Their COVID-19 guidelines are poorly followed, their appointments run at minimum 1.5 hours behind (possibly because of overbooking on the website's part), staff is not respectful of your time, and does not communicate with anyone waiting for assistance. I had a great service here, definitely make a previous appointment as it will take you so long to go as a "walk in". I had to go twice because at first I received the wrong information over the phone but the lady that assisted me was able to explain to me what I needed. A Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office, where everyone is nice and in a good mood, and you walk in and out in about 30 minutes (well, you have to wait for your license to be printed)? I've been in quite a few DMV offices through the years, you can usually get away with a nice staff, but the shortest amount of time I had experienced so far was about three hours. And, again, it is extremely rare to find everyone working with a smile, even though I overheard some of the employees were joking/complaining about how they fix one machine and another one breaks down and they find it hard to work that way... It was time to renew the old license and I was forced to go in person because I had already renewed online previously. I made sure to make an appointment because I value my time and like to be efficient and organized when I do things. Yes, I am a little bit stiff in this regard, lol. I arrived 10 minutes early, papers in order and ready to go. I walked in and approached the reception desk on the right. I advised her I had an appointment at 1:30 but she seemed uninterested and told me to stand in line with everyone else. Wtf? Well, I did as she instructed and went to the back of the rather long and slow-moving line. There I waited for about 10 minutes and as I hit my appointment time I still had 4 people in front of me. I began getting distressed and then saw another man standing at her desk speaking to a manager and complaining about being told to wait in line when he also had an appointment. I quickly jumped in and said that I was in the same boat and had been there since 1:20. The man who was complaining was very nice and knew I was there before him and told the manager to take care of me first. After this point things went efficiently. I made friends with this kind man and his 16 year old daughter who was there for her learner's permit. From start to finish we were in and out in about an hour. With the exception of the reception girl, everyone else was polite. The person who took my pic was nice and allowed me to see my pic before making it final. Definitely the worst DMV I've been to. It's 5/30/2018 I've been here since the door open. When I tried to get my ID and went to pay. the man said my ID got lost in the system. Then Manager was like have a seat. He later came about 30 min later to ask for my social he later left and came back another 30 min later and when I went to the teller I realized the manager n ver did a thing in that hour.
