Anyone from any of South Florida's congested areas (entire east coast; Miami to St Augustine) knows what a nightmare it is to get anything done at the Department Motor Vehicles (DMV but referred to as Driver's License Office in the Florida Keys). It's common nature to make DMV jokes; even movies cut jokes about the DMV... not so in Key West. I needed a replacement license and went to the Deerfield Beach DMV and holy **insert bad word here**: huge line, pitching attitudes, employees chatting more than working and nothing getting done; typical well run government agency... can you smell the sarcasm? Someone else bragged to me that the Keys DMV was totally different and since I was heading that way in a few days, I decided to wait. Fast forward to the my arrival at the Keys DMV and shocking there are only 3 people waiting to be assisted. There was a bunch of people still chatting it up instead of working, but then again you can't expect perfection. Drivers License Office - Departments of Motor Vehicles Near Me - Key West, Florida

This is the best place to renew your drivers license. The staff is efficient and friendly. For some reason the place was very quiet. Maybe 4 people waiting to get their licenses. I was in and out and the staff was a delightful group to deal with. The only bad thing about the office is a gas smell due to bad plumbing. It was a stomach churning aroma and I feel bad for the workers having to inhale that all day. Have a great weekend! read more

Well by happenstance we were staying in Key West and my wife's license was expiring on her birthday. I also needed to do an address change on mine. So we drove over here and took a number. After an agonizing 2 hour wait we got to a rep. From that point on all went very smoothly, but I wish I could have been out playing for those 2 hours. read more

She also informed me that I could renew my tags for 2 years instead of just 1 year. Which I took advantage of.
