Pioneer Acton Academy in Richfield offers a unique learner-driven approach that is very different from traditional schools. Honestly, making the decision to switch schools was pretty scary for us. We did a lot of research and spent a long time wondering if we were making the right choice, but we really felt like we were selling him short by keeping him where he was. Our son is a very bright child who always got good grades at his previous school, but it was becoming obvious that it wasn't the best fit for him. Sitting still through long classes, moving from subject to subject on a rigid schedule, and being expected to learn the same way as everyone else was slowly draining his curiosity and passion for learning. Any 'plan' to help him seemed more about making him 'fit in the box' than about recognizing his strengths and how he naturally learns. He had developed a strong dislike of school, and watching his love of learning fade was really heartbreaking. Pioneer Academy completely changed that. The environment encourages independence, curiosity, and problem solving. Instead of just being given answers, the kids are encouraged to ask questions, think things through, and figure things out. There's a lot of movement, collaboration, hands-on learning, and time outdoors. And the guides at Pioneer have been incredible! They truly know the kids, challenge and support them, and create an environment where students feel capable, trusted, and motivated to grow. They recognize that all kids learn in different ways. Instead of trying to force every child into the same mold, they create an environment where students can take ownership of their learning, explore their interests, and develop confidence in themselves. This kind of environment is good for every child! It challenges kids to go deeper and focus on true mastery instead of just learning for a test. The kids take real ownership of their learning, which helps them build confidence, independence, and a growth mindset. Each session includes a "quest" where the kids dive deeply into a topic through projects and exploration. Right now they're doing a quest called "Newton's Toy Box," and our son comes home so excited to tell us about what he's learning, building, testing, and discovering. One of the biggest differences we've seen is in his attitude toward school. He is genuinely excited to go every day. In fact, he was disappointed when he had to miss a couple of days for a family ski trip. That alone says a lot! Watching our son rediscover his excitement and passion for learning has been amazing, and we're so grateful we found Pioneer!

I needed for Christmas. I cancelled order. Kept getting notices they can't cancel and I kept sending to cancel. I finally cancelled my credit card. It is now March 10 and I just notices a charge for the stroller and the shipping which was supposed to be free and never got the stroller. After 1 1/2 hours on phone with credit card company I got my answer. The company somehow found out I had a new credit card and fraudulently used my new card to pay for this stroller I never received. Chase is contesting it, but they told me the company has a special program that can find out you new credit card and number. So much for privacy and what a fraud. Buyer beware.

Well today is January 27th and my emails have been ignored. My calls not returned by Sarah, the Director. But of course somehow they were able to getting around to charging me $560 for services never received. My little one has never stepped foot in their facility. My apologies for the lengthy review but I just had make it known that I would never recommend a company who takes care of children and feels it is professional to take someone's money then them more money for services not rendered.

As a elementary school principal, I have pretty high standards about learning and about leadership. I REALLY like Brandi and Joy as a leadership team...again, open, honest, welcoming, wanting feedback,etc. I knew it was the right place when I had my tour 6 years ago. I can't say much more about why...it was a gut feeling. In the end, I knew I chose correctly for all the reasons stated above.
