I needed a front end alignment. I took it in, and before…read morethey even pulled it into the shop they checked to see if I already knew that my truck chronically leaned to the left, which I did. But they checked. The kept me in the know and checked in with me periodically the whole procedure. It took about 40 minutes but I didn't mind at all. Extremely professional and kind guys who know their stuff and are happy to share their knowledge because they are concerned about giving you the best value for your money. Also they did a quick detail inside the car which I found very nice. My car's a wreck.

STAY AWAY from these guys. I came in due to my car making a nasty loud sound whenever going over 2k…read morerpms. They quoted me a whopping $3,500 to replace a cv axel and some bearings. I ended up renting a trailer and truck from uhaul and towed my car myself all the way down to my mechanic in San Jose who not only told me he can do it for 1.5k BUT my mechanic (shout out to Akins repair in san jose) told me that they didn't even mention that my transmission was the real problem. So in summary I paid these con men at ryans $250 for a diagnostic (absurd to begin with) they were going to charge me 3.5k for a 1.5k job and they didn't even find the problem so if I paid them these extortion prices thinking I could go back home I would've been told in the middle of repair that I would have to cough up another $5k for a transmission. Literally saved about 6 months worth of rent avoiding them. Update to owners response: please re read what i wrote. I was quoted 3,500 for the cv axel AND bearings not sure why you're saying i misheard when i asked very bluntly over the phone, " how much will it cost to get me back on the road to go home" your employee said 3,500 and reiterated it was for cv axel AND bearings. in addition to the overcharge for both parts and services the issue was misdiagnosed by your employees as i took my car to a transmission specialist and he insisted to take a ride with me so i can confirm the noise (a protocol your business should incorporate) and instantly recognized the sound to be either transmission or transfer case and is currently diagnosing it further for $150 ($100 cheaper than you.) my main mechanic (the one that would do what was recommended to me for less than half the price you quoted me) even told me that he doesn't know what you all were listening to because within 30 min of me dropping it off he recommended me the transmission specialist (he didnt charge me for this inspection fyi). And he agreed that my cv axel and bearings could use work but this noise had nothing to do with that. In other words its evident that If I went ahead with your business I would've spent thousands of dollars and still would not have been able to drive on the road and spend thousands more to fix the actual root of the problem. I still have the diagnosis and i can go ahead and publish how you managed to find everything but the root problem and compare it to the findings of the ongoing transmission inspection and if God willing if it's just a transfer case problem I'll update how my car is back on the road after towing it to the south bay and having two other mechanics look at it cost me less that dealing with you.

I was happily satisfied having taken two of my vehicles to Rick's Automotive for minor repairs…read more However I felt "ripped off" on my third experience. Keith gave me a verbal quote of up to $700 to replace the rear brake pads & rotors... a bit high I thought. However the final invoice was $400 more! And... the same exact parts were $250 more than at AutoZone or at O'Reilly Auto Parts. I learned an expensive lesson... always get a written estimate! Warranty: Regarding the markup of parts for a that 2 year/24,0000 mile warranty... most manufactures of rotors already offer a lifetime warranty for defects. Written Estimate: Essential to avoid miscommunication. Unless your installing windshield wipers... every single customer that is quoted hundreds of dollars for services should automatically be provided with a written estimate period! Cutting Corners: A reasonable assumption would be one in which auto mechanical repair jobs are inherently associated with areas of safety concerns. What jobs wouldn't be & how does that justify price gouging? Discount: If you suffered a foodborne illness after dining in a restaurant would you accept a discount or complementary meal for your inconvenience?

I brought that paperwork to Ricks and asked them to fix my car and anything else needed. Keith gave me a verbal quote of $695. Again, I trusted them from past service. Agreed to the verbal quote. The O2 sensor was replaced- CEL off. Unfortunately, VSC & TRAC OFF are still on. Rick's doesn't have the equipment to clear those codes/fix this problem on any LEXUS. They suggested I go to a dealer and try to get a free fix on an expired service bulletin/recall- no luck there. I'm happy the CEL is off. I'm disappointed that I didn't get a full fix especially when I was told they are a full service shop that day by 2 different people. Sadly, I should have insisted on a printed quote and I will from now on.

Instead, the woman at the front desk was incredibly kind and got me help right away. The technician checked my car and told me I didn't actually need a brake fluid replacement. I really appreciated that he took the time to explain things clearly without trying to upsell me. What stood out most was the honesty. A dealership had previously quoted me a high price for this service without mentioning it might not be necessary. Les Schwab chose to be upfront and helpful, and that really meant a lot. I'll definitely be coming back.
