Absolutely the worst camping we have ever done, she refused to let kids ride bikes after 8pm even though it was light out! Said kids couldn't be at the playground without adult supervision even though they were ages 7 to 16. On July 4th weekend we lost electricity the owner plugged our camper which is a 30amp to a 50amp and melted our cord! Absolutely worse camping ground around highly suggest looking into Lesiure lake or hemlock lakes. We were paid through end of the season and went to pick up the rest of our items and they were removed from a site we had paid for!

Our cabin was right next to the dumpster so our cabin smelled like garbage. The boat we rented was a rickety old fishing boat with an ancient motor. The life jackets were torn, dirty, and kept laying on the ground. There was one communal fire pit for seven cabins. There were no grills. Chautauqua Lake is beautiful and we went to a lot of area attractions. But we ended up leaving a day early because the cabin was so bad. We paid a good buck for the week and spent time looking up somewhere else to stay next year. We found several other options for similar price with much nicer amenities.

They have have decorated it nicely, and included a sitting area, nice kitchen, dining area, private bath and two separate bedrooms which have there own tv's. Much more than we were expecting and not expensive at all. One thing to be aware of is the access does require going up two flights of stairs. This place is full of friendly people and in a great location to experience the wilderness around Chautauqua Lake. They have tent sites, R.V. sites and clean, cool, cabins. The cabins are an excellent value. They include a fan, fridge, electricity, water, and bunk beds. Outside there is a fireplace ring with a picnic table. All you need. The park is right next to the Chautauqua Gorge State park, offering exceptional hikes, gorge swimming and fishing opportunities minutes from the campground. There are many options for exploration and hiking on the 45 acres offered by the campground. We found many fossils and other interesting wilderness keepsakes. If you are looking for lodging the next time your in Chautauqua New York, check this place out, they have awesome options including luxury cabins with Air Conditioning and other quality amenities. This is one of the nicest rest areas we have been to. It's basically a visitor center and rest area…read morein one. There is lots of information inside on things to do in the area. I probably spent 30 minutes looking through the brochures here. They also have a bulletin board with events in the area but unfortunately it doesn't look like it gets updated . The majority of the flyers were from July and it is now October . It would have been nice to see current events and things happening in the area . They have vending machines and they even have a microwave for people to use, which is unique and very thoughtful. There is a button you can push inside if you need the police, so that helps with a feeling of safety and I did see a red and white sheriff's vehicle parked there with two deputies inside on my visit. There are lots of tables outside with chairs and a grassy area where you can take your pets. Plus the view of the water is very beautiful, especially right now with all the fall foliage.
