Warm and comfortable with linen tablecloth and linen napkins and heavy silverware, they have a long wine list and we opted to just have the house red which was great. Beautiful bread basket, we got the baked mozzarella cheese to start. A good portion baked in oil with fresh garlic. It was awesome and there will be no vampires tonight. For mains, my friend chose a noodle dish with eggplant. Big portion, very nicely presented and I had a small bit that was excellent. I chose the buccatini with sardines and it was amazing. Fresh sardines, pesto, perfect noodles. Yummy. Our first "full" dinner in Palermo (last night was the food tour) and it's really looking like we'll have a great food fest here. I especially liked their house antipasti (eggplant dishes). It was fantastic! How can eggplant be so good? Biondo is located right off the main shopping drag. They have a pizza shop around the corner too. Ordering in English was small struggle - so picking up a tiny bit of Italian would help for those that do not speak any.

Knowing it was there we persevered, and I'm really glad we did! We arrived just as they were supposed to open (according to the sign) and we were seated at a table where nothing happened for the next half hour other than a whole lot of other parties arriving and getting seated. Then, the staff came to life as if someone had thrown a switch, and there was a line of dining hopefuls stretched out into the street... The service was very efficient, and all the staffers were friendly and helpful. The food and wine was all excellent and quite reasonably priced, with all the fish and meat entrées priced at around eight euros. Our server recommended what turned out to be an outstanding bottle of Nero d'Avolo which cost nine euros; it was the perfect compliment to the outstanding cuisine! It turned out to be completely worthwhile having arrived early; despite the half hour wait after we were seated we enjoyed a fabulous dining experience.

I only caught it because I was warned ahead of time. The cashier was most unprofessional. Of all the restaurants we have tried in Palermo, this was perhaps the most disappointing!

The pastas are all homemade and they have many vegan options. And not just like, "Yeah, we have eggplant and tasteless salad and we can remove the tuna and cheese and suck ass so you can eat."... it's more like, "You thought you like pasta, try this shit, it's fucking awesome!" I'm not kidding. You choose the style of pasta (I had gnocchi ((potato/gf)) and the wife had bucatini). Two vegan options, and holy god dammit all... mind blowing. I cried when it was over. Okay... I have to balance this out with some bad. The yang to the yin. Goddam plastic water bottles and plastic water cups!! Why?! Stop it Sicily... you're out of control with the pollution... like WAY out of control. Be better than the rest! That's all, I should take off a star for that, but I believe once they read this... they'll change. Giuliana was our waitress and I don't know the chef's name yet, but we're going back tomorrow so I'll find out. I actually clapped for him. That's how awesome this shit is. Vegan awesome sauce like no other. You've never had pasta this good. Never.

We thought we were waiting in line but then realized that the people had spilled out into the front and weren't really waiting, they were just drinking and chilling. After some confusing exchanges we got a table outside though, so all was good. The pasta was great! They have several different sauces and fresh pastas that you can mix and match. I loved the pesto trapanese. We liked it so much that we went back on our last night and got some to-go. Our waitress was very nice and despite the crowd the food didn't take long.
