Each dish was throughly enjoyable. The crabs were warm but not freshly steamed amd the old bay or seasoning used was sprinkled on top and they were not steamed with three seasoning. The meat was somewhat stick to the shells amd there was no juiciness in sight. The fried shrimp were juicy and seasoned well. The steamed shrimp was fresh also but the shell was on and they were not deveined. The cocktail sauce had a good punch from the horseradish and I enjoyed that. The french fries were a good size and for seasoned and extremely crunchy. You could actually eat them while they were still cold. Although they held heat for a minute. He grabbed margaritas and I had the awesome idea of putting some Old Bay in it instead of my normal tahin. So we had all day margaritas and why haven't I thought it was before? I typically do not go to crab restaurants because I love going out getting them myself and preparing them at home. It's going to be that's why . . . . We also grabbed the apple pie ala mode to take home. I love when restaurants have hand washing stations outside the bathroom. They also have a market area where you can purchase seafood and alcoholic beverages as well. What made this worse, when my sister told the wait staff and asked to replace with the crab balls (which were much better than the tasteless crab cake), the manager/cook came to the table because she has used the same recipe for 45 years and the crab balls are made from the same recipe. She talked to my sister like she was crazy. She was rude and aggressive. Fried onion rings and clam strips were soggy with old grease. The $76/dozen crabs, while cooked good, had so much SALT on them, you needed to brush the salt off, remove the shell then wash the salt off your hands before you could pick and eat the crab meat. They were out of scallops, fried chicken. We have always had good food and service in the past. We even asked if there was new management or cook, apparently not! Needless to say, we were all disappointed. I'm only upset at the final bill, because in this case, we didn't get what we paid for. Sitting on the waterfront de k does not make up for the lack of good food and customer service. We will not be going back.

We ordered a dozen crabs, a pound of jumbo shrimp, a bowl of cream of crab soup, an order of hush puppies and an order of fried pickles. The soup had plenty of lumps of crab meat and a nice flavor, and the portion was ample. The crabs were described as jumbo but were closer to large. At $115 for the crabs, a dozen was enough. (Side note: when the market price is that high you really should disclose it on a specials sheet or chalkboard or something. The first mention of it was on the final bill.) The crabs were steamed well and did not taste muddy at all. The shrimp likewise was perfectly cooked. The pickles and puppies were delicious. Total bill before tip came to $200. On the high side versus expectations but not alarming. Service was worse than spotty. At times it was clear that the server had tables in multiple areas of the restaurant and needed roller skates to keep up. And there were times that she was sitting talking to other employees or with her regulars. Several things we had to ask for multiple times (melted butter for crab, drink refills, a few crackers) some of which we finally gave up on ever getting and went to the bar to request. Things like silverware had to be requested. Getting the bill took longer than necessary. All in all, service was 2 to 3 stars. Setting: Worn chairs and tables. Everyone was friendly and we were able to be seated right away. It's right on the water, so we could see Pax River right from our booth. They offered outdoor seating, but it was almost 90 degrees out, so we opted for indoor. There was a very good selection of food items available, plus with it being Sunday, they had brunch going on as well. We decided to not do brunch; since we were going to a seafood restaurant we didn't really want breakfast foods (bacon, eggs, sausage, waffles, etc). I got shrimp tacos and my wife got the Captain's Platter (4 breaded shrimp and 2 mini crab cakes, plus sides). Meals were very good. A little pricey, but that's to be expected with seafood. We split the crab chowder, which was very tasty! And then I had a fried haddock sandwich with a side caesar salad. I really liked my sandwich. It was perfectly battered and fried. My husband had the crab cake sandwich and a side of the scratch corn. The crabcake was good, but the scratch corn was too greasy for our taste. Overall, the food was really good, and the water view is really nice. Great place for a meal! Side note: their cakes looked incredible, but we didn't try them this time. I would definitely consider going back for a slice of cake.
