Was really disappointed by the experience I had given the positive reviews here on Yelp. At first Drew was really cool because he offered a fair price for a timing belt change and agreed to do the job with parts that I would supply to save on costs. Drew wasn't very responsive here on Yelp, so I eventually just called to schedule an appointment. Once I got Drew out to my car, he indicated that I actually had a sketchy part, which I was thankful for his insight on. Unfortunately, because of the scheduling challenges, my part was beyond the return window and I had to resell at a loss. This was just a small taste of the dysfunction to come. I got the correct part and succeeded at finally getting a hold of Drew to schedule the install again. This time he just ghosted our appointment. I pretty much gave up after a few failed call attempts, but then a new(?) receptionist person returned my call. I told her that Drew missed our appointment and she offered to get back to me. To my surprise, Drew got back to me. He seemed regretful for not putting the appointment in his calendar, but this time instead of an install he wanted to schedule an appointment to just inspect the part. I offered to just send him pictures instead to make it easier, but he insisted on coming over. This appointment once again goes by without any sign or message from Drew, with no phones answered. His receptionist messages me later and tells me to text Drew images of the part to confirm instead, like I had originally suggested. Once again, no response, days go by, and my attempts at reaching Drew for a response predictably fail. Drew called back this time and told me that my part looks good. Awesome! Let's finally get it done then, right? Nope.. now he's changed his mind about doing the install because his insurance wouldn't cover a customer-supplied part, even though I'm already supplying several other parts (hoses, gaskets, belts) regardless. Nice. So in the end it took 4 months for Drew to finally tell me what he could have communicated immediately within 5 minutes in our first exchange on Yelp. It would have saved me a lot of time and sanity. I'm left with a lot of questions. Would Drew have just done the job if I just had a more reliable part on our first appointment? Was Drew intentionally ghosting our appointments to try and skip the job without wanting to admit his reasoning? When did Drew get a receptionist? When did Drew change his mind about the job and would he have told me if I didn't follow up persistently? Can Drew sustain his business if he seemingly can't communicate or commit to anything? Don't let the 5 stars fool you. I've been putting off leaving a post. I've been putting it off because I don't want people to read this and then decide to book Drew for their automobile issues. The more people who decide to do that, the longer I have to wait to get an appointment, should I need another one. Yes, I'll admit that's selfish. But at my age (75), I deserve to be selfish AND I really don't care what you think about that. That being said, here's my opinion of Drew's Automotive Service: Having automotive and mechanical skills of my own, I did quite a bit of work myself on my car engine however, I finally reached the limit of my understanding not to mention patience. So I reached out to Drew's Automotive Service and made an appointment. I explained all that I had done so we didn't waste time checking those things out and Drew respected my knowledge and immediately started where I had left off. The man is extremely knowledgeable and has every tool he needs to get the job done. He arrives on time or lets you know if he's behind schedule, and brings his smiling face with him every time. He's soft spoken, polite and knows what makes an engine tick. Even if it doesn't want to tick, and mine didn't. He's respectful and doesn't talk down to those who may not quite understand "what's wrong with my car?" He's patient, persevering until he finds the answer, often thinking outside the box. He will be honest with you and won't be saying "you need this..." or "you need that..." if you don't. He found one (original rotor at 91K mi.!) was below the wear limit, which I should've checked and had parts ready for him.
