A world pass ticket option will entitle you to entry to Q1, Whitewater world & Dreamworld. It's expensive but in line with other such parks. To break it down:
Q1 is a pleasant 'height' experience. You get to gaze out all around Surfers from 77 floors above. They do offer a climbing option (not cheap) where you get to climb outside for a more realistic feel if that's your thing. The cafe on the same floor is average and could do with a major overhaul but on the weekends they turn it into a nightclub, so that's the profit side and the reason it's shabby/average. On our Friday evening visit we encountered more than one intoxicated person as we looked around and it detracted from what the place could be. I had to explain to my son why the man was staggering and to my daughter what the smell was.
Whitewater world was good although not as good as Bali's Waterbom. It's missing the lazy river, the layout is not as good, and the food certainly not as good. It does have a wave pool which is fun and extremely popular and the slides utilising tubes are actually pretty good. It needs more sheltered areas and just seems a little old and dreary. Their rules are tighter than Bali and you need to be taller for some rides.
Dreamworld is of course the main part of the ticket. It's big and you will spend a fair amount of time walking from A to B as well as waiting in queues. It's a fun theme family park so there's more for kids than adults but most expect this. First the positives:
There's a good array of rides, for the smallest people and through to those seeking extreme excitement. They are spaced out all over the park so a map is a must although if you're planning more than one day you will get used to it. There's some animals, which in itself draws people, and then there's the Tigers, which draws even more, especially the daily shows. The newly born cubs are very popular and my daughter was in heaven (she got to pat one).
The staff are friendly and you feel welcome/. There's first aid and lots of places to refresh.
On the negatives:
There are no chill out areas, like shaded parks/benches, to relax in. All of the food is rubbish - hot dogs, pizzas, fried and greasy products, churros, krispy kreme etc rule Dreamworld. You will not find a decent coffee and if you care about your body at all you will not find any decent food. Perhaps the most annoying thing has to do with the queues. Tickets are already expensive but if you're wealthy you can purchase "express tickets" so that you never wait, you simply walk past everyone waiting and get on a ride, sometimes several times before someone waiting gets on. It's quite unfair that paying customers can be made to wait extra long because someone else is paying more because Dreamworld has found another way to make extra money. You need to experience it to realize what it's like.
My kids enjoyed it and our holiday was great. Would we do Dreamworld again? Possibly not. read more
