The food was homemade using lots of the fabulous locally grown fruits and veggies... The first morning was a Belgian Waffle with Hot Apple topping made with the apples from their back yard along with a veggie & cheese omelette's and sausage. Chocolate chip cookies & brownies were the snacks the two days.. Morning two was a souffle, Canadian bacon and fresh plum cobbler.. YUM!! Our room was pretty basic, only downside was the bathroom was across the hall and there was a tricky step that could easily be tripped on at night. I also thought it would have been nice to supply those fluffy bathrobes that most B&B's have if you have to wander the halls to the facilities. The hosts were great, very chatty and helpful if we had questions.

Your photos could potentially be used to create AI-generated images, videos, or deepfakes of you. Some companies retain identity documents and biometric data for years, increasing your risk. Small companies almost always have weaker security, privacy controls, and oversight. Your data may be shared with third-party vendors or service providers. You may have limited ability to verify whether your data was actually deleted. Keep in mind that identity theft can take years to fix. A Surprisingly Cool Spot in Grand Junction…read more We decided to stay at The Melrose on a quick trip to Grand Junction--and I'm so glad we did. Everything is keyless (no front desk!), and you use your phone for entry and concierge contact. Super modern and smooth from check-in to checkout. The first night felt almost eerie... like I was the only guest! It was that quiet. I wandered around downtown, grabbed dinner, and when I came back, I started seeing a few other people. The outdoor area was a gem--relaxing by the firepit under the glow of the neon rose sign was the perfect way to unwind. Parking is conveniently located in the lot to the left of the building. It's paid, but easy to use through the app--averaging about $10 a day. By the second night, the energy picked up a bit. The bar onsite had opened--but closed before I could make it back out. Thankfully, on my final night, I caught the last 30 minutes and got to enjoy two fantastic cocktails served in these fun, festive ceramic mugs. The drinks felt handmade, and the bartenders were super friendly. Lots of guests and even locals seemed to enjoy the outdoor space with drinks in hand, which gave it a relaxed, social vibe. Inside, I stayed in a double room--huge, clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom was modern, and I appreciated having a fridge and coffee pot. The only tiny hiccup: it took me a bit to locate the outlets, but once I did, all good! We're actually heading back over the 4th of July weekend and booked a smaller room this time to compare. I'm hoping we can make it back in time to enjoy the cocktail bar again--though I do wish their hours were a bit longer. It closes pretty early, and it's definitely a feature worth lingering over. He was very nice, seeing as we should've known when check in was already. When we met Sam and Judy, they were extremely hospitable and kind. Asking if there were any dietary restrictions for the breakfast, showing us our room and bathroom, and just making us feel at home. The place was spotlessly clean, and very nicely decorated. After being shown around, my man and I prepared to go for a hike. We found that there was no lock on the bedroom door, but I pointed out that it was a Bed and Breakfast, and there was a lock with a combination on the main door to the place itself. I wasn't too worried about the one other couple that was staying there, and I trusted the owners since this IS their business. They aren't going to be snooping through our stuff or stealing or they wouldn't still be in business. The bathroom for our room was huge, and the bedroom was comfy. The bed is really my only complaint. It wasn't very comfortable, and must've had a bedbug cover or something similar over the mattress, since I woke up with my back sweating a few times. But neither I nor my man were feeling very well for some reason on this day, so I don't know if a comfier bed would've made much of a difference. The breakfast the next morning was enjoyable and filling. Being a small Bed and Breakfast, the only time allotted for breakfast was 8 AM. This probably would've been a problem if we weren't planning on leaving pretty early to head to Moab the next day anyway, as I can't usually stomach breakfast until around 9 AM. So be prepared for an early, but really good, breakfast. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. The ambiance, food and lovely owners greatly outweighed the cost of a night's stay.

I cannot speak of the cleanliness or safety of the other cabins. Please, before booking cabin 15 at Mesa Lodge, be aware that the steps are unsafe. As noted in the pictures, they should be replaced immediately. I spoke to the co-owner and she said, "They have been that way for years." When the rain started, my husband did not want me using the stairs. He was fearful of me falling. Well, he FELL twice. We went to the main lodge to be moved but they were closed. At this point, we returned the key and headed to Grand Junction. The following morning my husband called to request our money be refunded. The co-owner did call us back and said she would discuss it with her husband. We have heard nothing. Positives of Mesa Lake Lodge: The area is phenomenal. The drive is break taking. The beauty and tranquility of the trees and water make it a gem of a location. We ate in the lodge. The meal was very good. We both loved the French fries. The hostess was nice. The breathtaking landscape was a visual feast, with endless miles of perfectly groomed trails weaving through the snow. We were looking for a way to enjoy the Grand Valley wineries without needing to drive.  Our group…read moreof six booked the Magnum tour.  Even the day before our tour, we heard great things about Sarah from one of the wineries we stopped at.  She is well-loved by her partners. She picked three places.  The first stop was so full of fun and the winemaker, Justin, took the time to explain about the Grand Valley and the winemaking process.  He was informative and kind and we had a great time.  I've done wine tours before, but no one spent time with us and hosted us as well as this.  Well worth the price.  Our second and third stops were nice as well, with options to choose between iced cocktails on a hot day or the selected wine flights.   Sarah herself was a delight and handled our brand of humor in stride.  At the end of the tour we were sad to say goodbye and were so glad that she was our host.
