Comparing the size to a quarter to indicate how small it is
    Pamela V.

Beautiful work but EXTREMELY disappointed in Geomar's communication skills. This was our first time here and the experience would of been great if it wasn't for the poor communication. We describe the tattoo that we wanted and it was very small, simple and quick. Just a numeral number of our son's bday. He said it will just be $120. Once the service was done he then told us $240 ($120 EACH). He forgot to state that it was 120 EACH after we ask him the price for both together. He wrote the price on the receipts AFTER he was done with the service, instead of before hand. Even tho afterwards I saw on his Instagram he was advertising the $40 promotion on his page... I don't know how he went from $40 to $120....... again, great work, just need to work on his communication .. P.s. I had to keep editing this review because I was very upset at the situation so I was typing angry but once I calmed down i realize it wasn't a big deal. It was a mistake on his end. He is only human. he just need to be more clear with his customer. I understand mistakes happens but he should be really careful next time. Cause that can negatively effect the business. My husband can hear well, and I'm hard of hearing but I can read lips very well so we both understood him. He just made a small mistake

Cute work, but overpriced. $360 for the 3

I had a friend in town, so three of us decided we wanted a group tattoo. We ended up choosing Dream City because one of my friends had some work done previously, and said the work was good and reasonably priced. I didn't get our artist's name, but he was super professional and courteous. He worked with us in making our tattoos (pictured) perfect. He worked quickly, and paid good attention to body mechanics when positioning us for tattooing. His line work was also awesome and precise. If it were for the work alone, I would give this place 5 stars. The problem came after the tattoos were done and it was time for pricing. I had mistakenly thought that my friend had worked out pricing prior to our arrival, but that was also my mistake for not checking. The artist had to call the owner and ask him how much. The owner charged $120.00 FOR EACH TATTOO..... $360.00 for three stick figures! I have had lots of work done at tattoo shops in and out of Chicago, and I have never been charged so much for such simple work.... no shading, only a small amount of color, literally STICK FIGURES! We didn't argue, only because the work had already been done, and the time for negotiations had passed. That being said, I would not come back. Paid street parking. Cash only. The artist was professional, but the owner severely overcharged for the work that was done. I learned my lesson in making sure that the price is agreed on by everyone BEFORE the work is done. I love our tattoos though! The owner does have a point about getting two stars regarding pricing, so I'm upgrading to three, but seriously.... I didn't say I couldn't afford the tattoo, I just felt we had gotten gouged due to the fact that we hadn't agreed on the price beforehand. I feel that if we had agreed to a price beforehand, then we would not have been paying $360, and if that was the price prior to work being performed, then we would not have gotten our work done at Dream City. I've had lots of work done all over the Chicago area, and have NEVER been charged to steeply, for such minimal work. Even the girl that I went with, who has had work done at Dream City, said that none of her tattoos have costed her that much. Professionalism would dictate that the price would have been agreed on BEFORE work commenced, and would be included on the paperwork that was filled out. I've never had work done that wasn't quoted prior to beginning. As I said though, it's our fault for not finding out pricing before starting, and my fault for assuming that would have been done by the people I was with. I have no problem paying for quality work, but the cost was not reflected in the work that was done. LESSON LEARNED : ALWAYS get a quote before you get poked!

My husband and I had been thinking about ring finger tattoos for a while since his ring causes his finger so much irritation. We were in Boulder on vacation and thought it would be great to have it done there as something of a souvenir. We stopped in at Dream City just to ask rough pricing and get a few suggestions about sizing etc since we wanted our wedding date and knew that small lettering on a finger could be tough. Reed greeted us at the front and took a peek at our inspiration pics, answered a few questions and made a few suggestions, showed us examples of his line work and told us we could do it on the spot if we wanted. We had our toddler with us so we didn't think we'd be able to do it right then but the whole shop was SO chill with him being, well, a toddler. Everyone there was so laid back and friendly, it was totally comfortable and very clean. I got my finger done first, Reed was so patient and resized the stencil a few times until I was happy with it, and I loved it immediately. Then before my husband started his finger he pitched an idea to Reed for another small piece he wanted on his back, and they went to work designing it to look how my husband pictured it. It was a simple piece but he just had an idea in his head and wanted to make sure it reflected properly on his skin. Reed helped him with size, shape, font, placement etc and they went for it. It turned out exactly as my husband had pictured it in his head and we both love our wedding date finger tattoos. We're only here for a few more days but my husband is going to try to get back before we leave to do one more small piece with Reed. Cool atmosphere, good vibes, friendly staff, clean instruments... we would absolutely return to Dream City.

Got my first tattoo done by Arturo. SO friendly and made the process a breeze. He gave me the best price and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. Can't recommend enough.

    My tattoo from Dream City

I moved to the area 4 years ago and knew Dream City was just a few blocks from me. It took me quite awhile to work up the courage to walk down the street to the shop for my new tattoo. I've been wanting it for awhile, a semicolon on my wrist. As part of the Semicolon Project for mental health. But I was always anxious to ask a tattoo artist for it, afraid they'd know what it meant and that I'd be judged or that I'm just some guy getting a dumb symbol. Not here at Dream City. I had called ahead to see if they took cards and for their hours and if I needed an appointment. I was treated really friendly and told normally I should make an appointment but it was slow and to come in when I was ready. I told the person on the phone I'd be in in about a couple hours, hung up, took a deep breath, and then started walking. I came in really early, clutching my printout of a semicolon and looking wide eyed. But I was greeted with a huge smile and a friendly handshake, asked what I wanted, told them, and the guys immediately recognized me from the phone. I was put at ease as my artist took my printout and made a stencil. The atmosphere is relaxing and exciting at the same time, the buzz of tattoo needles bouncing off the walls and artist examples hanging on the wall. My tattooist sat me down and immediately knew what the semicolon meant. We talked about our experiences with mental illness and how we as a country need to do better treating it as he sterilized his tools and then inked me up. No judgment or anything. I left with a care package of moisturizer and a feeling that these guys care about the stories behind the tattoos they create. I'm coming back for my inevitable next one.

First off the vibes in this shop are immaculate! There was never a dull moment the whole almost 30 hrs I was there! My tattooist Arturo was amazinggg! He designed the whole sleeve and made the time to finish it in only 3 days!He even let me watch throwback cartoons while getting tatted! 10/10 would recommend!

    Bumble bee done by Amber

Amazing artists! They are all friendly and all acknowledged me when I walked in. Amber, the petite yet badass tattoo artist did my piece. I walked in, telling her that I had a bald spot on my head and wanted it to be covered up with a bumble bee. She was super accommodating with everything. I told her what I wanted, including the size and color. She definitely delivered. The shop is clean and has personality. Free parking is a plus, especially since I didn't know how long it would be. I'm so glad I came in. I would come here again in a heart beat. Thanks Amber!

Two years after getting tattooed. Still super pigmented, almost no color fading or bleeding.

Got my first ever tattoo here back in August of 2018. I was initially trying to get into Kidd Jo's about two miles away from dream city, but they were apparently booked until 7pm on a Wednesday. They also told me I would have to greatly enlarge my tattoo if I didn't want to experience ink bleeding, which is total bs, they saw a young girl they were trying to make a bigger buck off of. So needless to say I looked around for more options. I called Dream City because I saw they were close to Kidd Jo's (they have since then moved more towards the city.) and spoke with whom I believe was the owner who said "Cmon in! We're not busy, we'll take take of you." So I went! Walked into a very clean and nicely designed tattoo parlor. High staffed on an off day, which was nice to see! I was set up with Arturo, who I spoke to about Kidd Jo's comments on the design I wanted and he also agreed they were lying to me. My dad also spoke to Arturo about how his color never lasts him more than a few months before it fades and how due to his very Olive completion, bright colors never seem to last. Arturo told him the previous shops he's been to were probably just "feathering in the color instead of really pushing it into the skin." So it was good to hear a tattoo artist who knew a lot about his craft. He set me up in his station, and since he knew it was my first tattoo he talked me through his sanitation process, and even told me how a tattoo gun works. He then asked me about four times if I was 100% happy with the location and size of the tattoo. He also let me know when he was about to start tattooing so I could prepare myself. And honestly, I barely felt a thing. When we got closer to the ankle bone he told me if I felt pain to breathe a certain way, so it would help distract me from it. Once the tattoo was finished, he gently cleaned it and applied transparent second skin to the area and told me not to take it off for three days, saying, "The skin is clean underneath and the wrap does not collect bacteria, leaving it on for a while will help the skin's natural healing and will help lock in color. Then wash it with Dial gold bar soap and a scentless lotion." He then handed me his business card and told me if I have any questions or need more advice for maintenance and cleaning that I could contact him anytime. He also said if I experienced any color loss he would touch it up complimentary. It's been almost two years now, and my tattoo has close to no fading whatsoever, and compared my friends most recent tattoos, mine still look fresher than theirs. Which is totally awesome. I'm not sure if Arturo still works at Dream City, but let me tell you, this guy really knows what he's doing. Both his designs, and customer care are extraordinary. Total A+ parlor and staff.

    Smile now cry later

Dream city tattoos has always been my spot to go since i got my first tattoo with gabriel Cervantes i was refered to gabriel by my friend pedro he told me he was the owners brother which made me interested even more so when i got my first foot tattoo with him i knew he was my go to when i wanted to get tattooed and im not easily impressed so yes his work is always nasty in a bad ass way you show him your idea and he messes around with it a little but i am always satisfied when i go in and tell him my ideas and the staff is super friendly as well very clean very open will be going back for more.

    This is the end result.

I would like to start with a bit of history how I ended going to Dream City in Chicago. I was actively looking for a tattoo shop for quite some time. I looked and asked many people about tattoo shops in Houston since that's where I reside, however, I couldn't find any that I felt comfortable with. I'm not a very creative person, I know what I like, but simply do not have that gift of putting it on paper. Dream City was highly recommend by friends in Chicago. Since I go to chicago often for business, I figure I would take that recommendation and act on it. So I showed up to the tattoo shop, spoke to Ganzo where he introduced me to Little Chris. Little Chris is another tattoo artist and another very talented artist. I explained what I wanted and next thing you know I was getting a tattoo, highly satisfied. At this time, I already spoken to Ganzo about coming back for another tattoo. He put me on his schedule, explained what I wanted and he & another artist came out with yet another masterpiece. I flew back to Chicago three weeks later and another masterpiece became part of my life. I'm extremely thankful to the entire staff as they were all very tentative. Ganzo and his staff were extremely preventive as far as safely performing their jobs. Having a safety background, I can appreciate that aspect of their business. When you sit in a chair for 5 to 7 hours, you learn and observed how the shop interacts with one another and also see the satisfied customer leaving with smiles in their face. Currently, I have another appointment with Ganzo and I cannot wait until then. I am extremely satisfied with their business, as well as with my tattoos. I highly recommend them and have already done so to some of my colleagues that inquired about their business once they seen my tattoos.

Just got this done early early this morning by Arturo and we're loving it!!!!!! Great place great people. Great design. Thanks all four of us are truly happy with it.

Let me say this: Dream City Tattoos is now my NUMBER ONE top pick tattoo shop for any kind of work. I was instantly able to book through Instagram for the next day for my 21 year old daughter and myself (My piece being multicolor & my daughters being black & grey). The place is very clean and the staff is very sociable. LET ME SAY THIS: LEBSTER IS A BEAST! He can deliver more to you then you can hope for. Not only did he deliever my idea piece clean, clear & neat, but he also added (of course with consent) his own unique and clean cut touches to the actual tattoo. What also stood out which gravitates me towards me booking again is the socializing through out the whole process and experience to make it even more enjoyable. Moral of the story: I MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Dream City Tattoos.

Let's begin. I love tattoo shops. I have only been to two of them. I have to say Dream City Tattoo tops my list. When I walked in, I was greeted with a handshake. Which is a bonus. The shop is clean friendly staff. My tattoo artist that I am loyal too now works here. A huge shout out to Pedro for squeezing me in today and simply killing my tattoo. Thank you. I highly recommend this location, for me it is near the Grand/Nordicia bus terminal and also near the Harlem and Grand bus stop with a short walking trip. This is my last tattoo but if I do get another. I will be back here. This is my tattoo shop. Once again, thank you.

My brother and I got matching tattoos. The meaning behind it was "I promise to be there for you no matter what, in this life or the next."
