The assembly of this dish was not great. They put a glob of mayo on top of the mussels...then fries under with a TON of not so great broth. The fries get sooooo soggy and dipping it becomes a nightmare when you start eating the mussels. The mussels also weren't that great. It wasn't necessarily fishy but almost tasted old or left out. I would not recommend this dish. The Brussels sprouts were horrendous and EXTREMELY salty. It was drenched in this buffalo tasting vinaigrette. The entire party hated this. As for the chicken, it was alright. The hot sauce wasn't great so I ate it alone. The biscuit was tough and hard to rip apart. It didn't have that flakey texture. The slaw was a miss from just looking at it. My favorite thing out of it all was the Mac and cheese. Not dry, had good amount of salt. The bar itself is very old, I was told almost 100years old and original and it is a standout feature. Beautiful. The decorations are pictures of how the place and Benicia used to look a 100 years or so back. i wanted to have a beer but don't like dark beers and when I asked the server for a suggestion, she got me a couple of samples. I liked the light beer and ordered that. We also ordered a Roy Rogers and a hop water which I was told was interesting. There is plenty of street parking but this was on holiday. I can see the parking getting tough on a weekend. I thought the prices for the food were expensive, especially for Benicia. When I went inside I told you this wasn't acceptable and not ok to charge us, you did anyway. This isn't a good look for a local restaurant that needs local support. I will not stay quiet while you take advantage of the locals who actually want to support you.
