Just want to expose the owner or manager of a local bow hunting shop in Effingham Illinois, for the person he turned out to be. I am a Avid bowhunter one of the few black Hunters that hunt deer or wild game with a bow and Arrow. On December 4th and 5th 2017 I along with a friend of mine went to this Archie shop to look at used bow and arrows. My friend wanted to buy a used bow. I referred him to this establishment, because of past purchases I along with some of my other hunting buddies had made there. My friend spent over five hundred dollars there, on a used now. As I indicated earlier. I put a down payment on a used bow as well. The owner never gave me a deadline for complete payment of the bow. But gladly took my money. With archery season only a month away, for 2018. I recalled that I had given the business my money, and due to being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, I could not Hunt. A life long friend from Alton , Illinois came all the way to my home near Greenville , Illinois, after receiving dialysis for kidney failure, just to drive me to Effingham , Illinois because of my condition. As I entered the business , the owner/ manager, asked me how could he help me!! At this time I explained to him that I had put money down on a bow in December of 2017. He look up the receipt with information on it, and made sure I was the person inquiring about the bow. At this time I asked him, if he could do me a favor!! He replied hopefully I can. I asked if he would return my money because I've been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and could not Hunt. He quickly said no! And further stated you can pay it off. I asked him again if he understood what I had just said to him. He stated I could have sold this bow many times and my receipts clearly states a deadline for lay always. I said no it didn't you only took my money , and you're telling me you're taking the bow and my money!! I said to him you can't do that , I didn't come in this shop to give you money to hold as a game, I didn't ask for this cancer, his reply was you're a f...king liar. He had asked me how.much money I gave him , and I told him I'd given him.more than he had written.on the receipt. He began to get even louder when more customers begin to arrive. by stating you coming in here telling me a f****** story about you having brain cancer I'm not believing none of this s*** there were customers that looked at him in shock and disbelief. By the way he was disrespectful towards me. He further said get the f*** out of my store these people don't want to hear your sad story. he further stated if I didn't leave he would call the police. I told him to go ahead and call the police and I will wait there until they arrive to tell my side of the story. I told him to make sure he informed the police that he was not threatened by me. I could hear him and the police corresponding with each other and which time he told them I was disruptive and keeping him from waiting on his customer. A short time later the police arrived , that being a female officer in a young male officer. I inform the officer that I would let him tell his story first and they could hear mine after he was finished. he said to the officers what he had previously said to me as well as in the presence of the other customers. both officer seemed somewhat surprised to hear him make the statement this guy comes in here wanting me to feel sorry for him having brain cancer , because he still owe $150 for down payment he put on a bow back December of 2017. I explain to both officers that the proprietor refused to return my money or the bow and stated that it was a deadline clearly written on the receipt stating as such. I asked the officers to have him show them and myself this statement on the receipt which he could not. the only thing on the receipt was the amount he said I had given him and the dates I asked the officer to have him make me a copy of receipt which he previous refuse to do said he didn't have a copy machine. he officer asked me if I had a cell phone to take pictures of the receipt at which time I did. I was farther advised by the officers that the proprietor had the right to ask me to leave the premises they escorted me outside and which time they allowed me to take a picture of the receipt and clearly stated that it was a civil matter and they apologize for the Proprietors conduct. and wished me well. I didn't get a chance to get neither of those officer's name before I left, but I would like to thank them for being professional in their line of work. This jerks conduct could have cause me a problem, had not the officers viewed His conduct for themselves. if anyone knows me this proprietor can expect to find himself in small claims court very soon. read more
