In June of 2010, Steve Draper opened up the newest automotive business in Monticello, Utah; bringing with him over 20 years of experience in the industry. Word of mouth is spreading the knowledge of Steve's friendly and professional manner; and I'm here to help spread that word. My husband's SUV needed a new gas filter which was enclosed inside the tank itself. Not only did Steve take the vehicle immediately, but he quoted us a price better than another repair shop had, and had the work done by the next day. Later on an unrelated issue developed with the SUV; Steve kept the vehicle for several days, testing it at different times each day, but the problem refused to show itself again. Steve did not take guesses at what the problem might be, nor did he fix parts unnecessarily; he honestly told us that until it occurred again, there was nothing he could do. While traveling through Colorado, the vehicle stalled out and another mechanic found that the computer had finally given out...what do you expect from a 1998 used vehicle. All we knew was that Steve had been very honest about the assessment, and we were going to keep using his business. Recently I took my car in for its yearly inspection and it only took 20 minutes. Another automotive business I had been using usually kept my car for an entire day! While I was waiting, I saw Steve interact with other customers; he was naturally friendly, polite and helpful. If he could not accommodate someone, he would call another business to see if they could help the customer. On our way back to home to Arizona our van broke down just North of Monticello. I was able to get into town to find a tow company, but since it was Saturday all the places were closed. Draper Towing's sign said they had 24 hour service so I gave them a call. Steve Draper answered and told me it would be 45 minutes or so before they could get to us because the tow truck was already on a call. I asked about seating in the tow truck because there were four of us plus our dog that were stranded. I made my way back to our van and waited. Almost exactly 45 minutes later a tow truck AND Steve's personal truck arrived so our entire family could be transported. Once in Monticello Steve checked our van and gave us the bad news: It was dead. The engine was "blown". We were 3 1/2 hours from home with no vehicle and no one able to come get us. Being a VERY small town, there were no rental car offices in Monticello. Steve and his wife spent the next hour calling car rental offices and U-Haul locations in neighboring towns to try and help us find a way home. They even called a few local residents that they though might have a vehicle for sale! After we decided we would find a motel and spend the night, the Drapers made sure we had their cell phone number and told us to call them anytime if we needed anything. This kind of service is what sets apart Draper Towing and Repair from other tow companies I have used in the past. I am extremely pleased! Dealing with an ailing car during a road trip is not a path to Nirvana but Steve and his team proved to be the next best thing! He was exceptionally honest, a pleasure to deal with, and charged a super-fair price for the job. I called a day ahead hoping to schedule a wheel bearing replacement on Saturday, as soon as we got to town. Getting the job done on Saturday would avoid a major disruption to our plans but many shops are closed weekends. Steve ordered the part overnight and was waiting for us at noon on Saturday. We lunched nearby while he wrestled with our car's crusty bolts and an hour later it was done. We echo all the previous reviews. We also had a breakdown while traveling. Draper's went above and beyond to accomodate us and get us back on the road as quickly as possible with a way more than fair price! We were also tranporting a freezer full of meat on a trailer. While we waited overnight for our part, they allowed us to keep it plugged in at their shop. Friendly, reliable, more than fair price. If you've broken down near Montecello, you are in luck!
