Crowns look great, but what's underneath doesn't…read more After their initial root canal and crown (done wrong), I ended up with a year-long infection that eventually required an apicoectomy and then a full root canal redo by an endodontist -- who was shocked they had let it go so long (more than a year) and hadn't caught, on imaging, that the entire root canal seal had failed and was leaking. Right after the crowns were placed more than a year ago, I called them in urgent pain -- but they didn't answer for a full week because of "phone issues." In desperation, I went to a 24/7 dentist who misdiagnosed me. When they finally answered the next day, I went back because they knew my case and I didn't want to risk losing my new crowns. They loaded me with antibiotics, did the apicoectomy, and gave me a free bottle of "fairy dust" mouthwash, assuring me that time would help. It didn't. They could have caught this much earlier with proper imaging like an MRI and a timely referral to an endodontist. Instead, it was delay after delay, unnecessary procedures, and more pain than I should have endured. I will not be returning. I paid a lot of money for a nice crown with a hole in it.

During our conversation, I explained that I was open to temporarily assisting your office as a dental assistant on a day when coverage was needed. I was transparent that this would require an hour commute on my part, and for that reason, I inquired whether compensation above the advertised rate would be possible. Madison informed me that compensation decisions were not within her control and that the dentists were firm on the stated rate. I understood this response and, as no agreement or confirmation to work was made, I did not proceed further. Subsequently, I received a message from Madison that I felt was unprofessional and unnecessarily discourteous, particularly given that no commitment had been made on either side. Being characterized as unprofessional under these circumstances was unexpected and disappointing. Additionally, I was later removed from the Utah Dental Networking page, which I believe may be related to this interaction. If so, I feel this action was unwarranted and unprofessional. Getting kicked out of this group prevents me from finding any temp jobs in the future. I value respectful and professional communication within the dental community and felt it was important to share my experience. My intention is not to escalate conflict, but to bring awareness to how this interaction was handled. My work ethic and references speak for themselves. I regularly find temps for my office and I would've never of handled it this way.

Maybe it was because it was my first time, but I've never had this kind of greeting as my first time patient anywhere in many cities and dentists that I've had. The front office staff greeted me with excitement and a smile and a welcome gift. (not the usual "here's your paperwork and sign it please). Gave me a tour of the office, introduced me to everyone, and even had a disposable toothbrush for me to use as I had just ate some cashews before arriving. The office is emaculate. The equipment is high end top of the line dental equipment (I've been to some that didn't have it), and they even had glasses to put on me so the splash of the cleaning didn't go all over, not that it mattered, since they didn't even splash and were careful and courteous in my cleaning. McKenna even took the time to explain every step of what she was doing and educate me on the process. (Even though I already knew it). Dr. Lucero was very warm, and direct in his knowledge. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and English fluently. I was very impressed. Will highly recommend this dentist office. P.S. As a suggestion for the office: My past dentist would include a goody bag with chapstick, a toothbrush and dental floss after each cleaning visit. He does all the work himself, including cleaning, so you'll only see one seat filled at a time. He does have an assistant to snap photos and pass tools, but other than that, he's a one-man show. He does great work and is very personable. The only real complaint I have is he suggested removing my bottom permanent retainer so I went ahead and did so. (He said teeth are actually stronger without it...and yes, there would be a little shifting.) Since then my bottom teeth have shifted a bit, and our orthodontist still wonders why in the heck he removed it. But other than that, we've been happy! Beautiful office too!
