This place is great! I went in without any expectations as I eat at the Toronto locations often and WOW the Drake Devonshire is the real deal. My partner and I shared brunch dishes and I can't stop thinking about the Eggs Benny & the "Good Egg". Poached eggs so buttery & creamy. The view is to die for (from the patio) the decor inside is beautiful and CLEAN. And our server was really fast, attentive and kind. I don't understand why people write reviews complaining a restaurant for being expensive or that the food is 'lackluster'.. compared to what? This is a high end restaurant, you are paying what is fair for the labour and materials that go into your dining experience. You need reservations for inside, they don't take them for the patio. Get there as soon as they open, put your name in and go for a walk and get a coffee or drink somewhere else. We did that, in an hour came back and our table was ready. The only thing comical about the Drake D is some of the "Karen's and Ken's" who are trying to bully the staff to get into the place. We actually waited a good 20 mins before being seated because a woman in front of us was talking in circles in disbelief that they were full for the rest of their brunch seatings. Seriously, if you are going to have the privilege of dining in this fine establishment, be kind to the staff ! They are doing their best to work during a pandemic. Question: can I live here? But seriously this place whoever designed it I'm totally on their wavelength. We came here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. I probably would've eaten every meal here if I could have. The morning views looking out over Lake Ontario are spectacular. The blueberry scones are a must. I am dreaming about them still. Everything about the breakfast platter that we received from the poached eggs to the homemade sausage was pretty much perfect. The service was good it wasn't amazing but it also wasn't bad. It's a busy place that's usually fully booked so the only reservation we could get was at 8:30 AM but getting up really early was worth it. After we ate we wandered around the hotel grounds and used the photo booth. If I come back to the prince Edward County area I would definitely want to try to stay at the Drake Devinshire or the Drake motor Inn. read more

A great place for that weekend getaway. Prince Edward County has a lot to offer for your stay here with all the new wineries to explore. Take a walk along the beach or check out some quaint shops on the Main Street. You can book a wine tasting tour through Drake which makes it very easy. You'll hit 3 to 4 vineyards each one offering several tastings of some very interesting blends. Of special interest are the Pinots from this region. Much lighter than what you are used to. There are a few good spots to get dinner within walking distance of the hotel but your best bet is to make a reservation at the Drake's own restaurant. The atmosphere, food, drinks and staff are all top notch. The rooms are rustic but comfy. Just what you want in these surroundings. There is a deck for hanging out and admiring the lake view. In cooler weather, the heaters are on and there are blankets to wrap up in. So romantic. Live bands perform some nights but the concert room can be rented out for small events. Enquire when booking for availability. There is also a games room and pathways through the grounds plus a quiet gazebo for those who wish to book an outdoor massage. Drake Devonshire has it all! Book your stay well in advance as space is limited. Complimentary coffee by the fireplace in the early morning. Breakfast is served at 9:00. read more

We had a few different bottles of wine from White's to Reds. And we had a full selection of various menu items. The beef tartar was very good and unique in its own way. The service was spectacular and they were on time for every meal in every course. The highlight of my meal was actually the maple brussel sprouts and roasted cauliflower. A beautiful spot to enjoy brunch! Even with reservations, I was not able to get a patio table by the water... so make sure to book a table early. We ordered the strawberry sake cocktail ($15), shrimp benny ($18) and the drake breakfast ($17). The cocktail is refreshing and perfect for the summer! I'm a sucker for sake cocktails. The drake breakfast was hearty with 3 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, baked beans, potatoes, sausage, roasted tomato and bread. My favourite were the sausage and baked beans, and I liked how my overhard eggs were not burnt, which often happens at other places. Service was attentive and friendly. We arrived at this trendy hotel with dinner reservations as it is extremely popular and highly recommended. Ambiance: nicely decorated with chic and modern settings and a yellow accent chair at most tables. A casual setting looking out into the water with the crashing waves. Music was a mix of hip-hop, r&b and rock. Good for families, dates and groups. Food: A bit pricy but you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. So much flavour. The trout had a crispy crunch to it just before biting into a creamy and soft bit of meat. The gribiche sauce is like a higher end tartar sauce that combined nicely with the trout. Only unfortunate part was that you had to order your own bread for another $6. Drink: wanderlust was a nice non-alcoholic option was a strong mix of cucumber, mint and grapefruit. Was super excited to finally visit the Drake's PEC outpost. Called ahead to make reservations but was told they were too busy but we could visit the restaurant and try out luck getting seated on the patio. Ok no big deal, we wanted to try! Felt a bit deflated to say the least when the girl running the hostess desk was super super rude for no reason and it took us almost an hour for our party of four to get seated for brunch. Not cool and almost completely ruined the experience for us. If anyone from the Drake team happens to read this, please take this feedback and implement some changes, it would be greatly appreciated. Anyhoo, the food and drinks were excellent. We all tried something different from the menu and really enjoyed our meals. I opted for the shrimp benny, which was super yummy. Really enjoyed the Drake Ceasar - shoutout to the bartender for the extra olives (as per my request) so good!! We did a quick walkaround of the common areas inside and outside of the hotel. Really enjoy the spaces, so creative! So many Instagram opportunities, so little time. Also, make sure you jump into their old school photo booth, so much fun! Located really near the Wellington's Farmer Market - we decided to stop by Drake Devonshire for a long weekend brunch. The menu is limited- but the food is done well. Presentation is great and portion size is decent for a brunch meal. The staff and service was great, and really accommodating. We were lucky to get a seat by the waters on the patio, and the view was beautiful. Although we didn't get a chance to stay at the hotel, it look really cozy and warm. Food was ok at best. I don't think I have ever had a dish so lacking in flavour as the Garganelli Pasta. Just mushrooms and pasta in a basic cream sauce; had to ask for salt to give it a little lift. Welcome to the most pretentious restaurant. Overspend money on inedible food and get treated like garbage. My friend and I came here for drinks and appetizers in the evening. We asked to be seated outside to take in the beautiful view (which is the only thing going for this place). We ordered an entire pitcher of sangria, which had absolutely no alcohol in it at all. Talk about being cheap. It was simply ice, rosemary, and some fruit. For snacking we got 3 different varieties of dip. We assumed it was going to come with bread or crackers, but no. At the Drake you have to purchase the 4 slivers of stale bread, which won't even get you through half of the dips. This was absolutely atrocious, as any good restaurant provides edible bread free of charge. To make matters even worse, our waiter wasn't even attentive to us. Several tables got served before us, who had put in orders after us. When many people, including ourselves went inside due to the mosquitoes, he completely abandoned our table. Certainly a mixed experience based on my last visit with a large group. We had called ahead to book out a portion of venue for our wine tasting group to relax and even ordered bagged lunches well in advance so service and kitchen staff could be prepared. The lunch was a chicken salad sandwich with a side salad, dessert and bottle of water, so quite simple to pull together even if for 40 people. There was a miscommunication on timing on the part of the venue so guests received their lunches essentially at the end of our 1 hour stop as we were walking back to our bus. It was an OK meal and likely not true of the service and quality that so many reference in their reviews. I am definitely planning a return here so I can have the full experience. I ordered a couple of cocktails while we were waiting and THOSE I can tell you were excellent. Full marks to their bartenders - I would expect nothing less coming from the Drake. The real winner here is the location. OMG. We walked through the brilliantly designed and decorated building to the "games room" which had been reserved for us, and from there it opened up onto a multi-level deck that opened to a tiny beach and one of the most beautiful waterfronts I've ever seen! Chicken sandwich be dammed, I'd come back here (and will) for a seat on that patio, an open tab for booze and all the cocktails and wine I can consume prior to passing out. I hosted my mom's 60th birthday brunch here and it was a huge success. Other Yelpers seem to have had some bumpy experiences, but from where I sat, the Drake Devonshire has definitely worked out the kinks. They had a parking attendant to direct traffic and when I phoned they were very clear that they only served brunch until 2pm. The food was almost exactly what I've come to love from my neighbourhood brunch joint in Toronto. I had an eggs Benny and most folks had their special stuffed French toast and the breakfast burger. All delicious. Let's talk about what you're really wondering about: the space. Oh the space! Walls and walls of windows overlooking a little rock beach and endless light blue stretches of Lake Ontario. Food was great, our server was an older lady with a very cheerful personality. She was the only one who seems to enjoy her job. The rest, from the greeter to the bartender and including the more senior (I'm assuming) managers, they had this stoic facial expression. Came here while staying in Prince Edward County with my in-laws. First of all the restaurant is located in the Drake Devonshire Inn, which is pretty cool and funky in its decor (similar to the Drake Hotel in Toronto). We didn't have a dinner reservation so we had to wait an hour. We had a refreshing Wanderlust cocktail (citrus non-alcoholic beverage) at the waterfront while waiting. We had dinner on the patio which was great as it enabled us to take in views of the lake. Our server Bridget, a local of Prince Edward County, helpful at recommending other places to visit in PEC. Bridget was especially helpful with her food recommendations and from these we were able to decide on a bunch of delicious dishes. Of note were the warm sweet pea salad and the soy garlic chicken wings. The fish and chips were fresh and tasty (although some of the fries were a bit soggy). The lobster nachos (small in portion) were also pretty good. We also got a selection of desserts to share. The chocolate banana dacquoise cake was SOOOO good! We all really liked the key lime tart as well, with its refreshing citrus hit and basil cream. This is our second year returning to the Drake Devonshire to cap off our weekend visit to the nearby cheese festival. As we've come to expect, the food and atmosphere are wonderful. This restaurant would easily be 2-4x as expensive if it were located in Toronto, and is definitely worth the drive. This year's highlight was an amazing fermented leek and brisket soup, which was one of the best things I've ever tasted, and really hit the spot on what was an unexpectedly rainy and cold June evening. We had an amazing stay at the Drake Devonshire this past week. The decor is inspired, with original artwork in the rooms (even the bathroom!) and a lovely art walk along the creek that runs through the property. Really an Instagramer's dream! The game room looked like a ton of fun, although, sadly, we were too busy exploring the gorgeous countryside (wineries, cideries, petting zoos, shops!) nearby to take advantage of it. The staff was super friendly and hospitable from the moment we arrived until the moment that we left and we particularly enjoyed the warm cookies that came as part of the turn-down service. We also ate both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and we have to agree with the other reviewers who praised the gorgeous scenery. It's definitely a popular spot, so I'd highly recommend reservations if you know in advance that eating there will be on your itinerary. With that said, we went for brunch fairly early and had no problem securing a table overlooking the lake on the patio, so, as with most good restaurants, it seems to be luck of the draw whether they're slammed that day or not.The french toast at breakfast was to die for and our dinner was delicious -- we especially liked the house's special charcuterie and the pickerel. read more

We ordered the blueberry scones and the chicken and waffles. The blueberry scones were delicious. If you're getting them, ask for it warmed. The chicken and waffles were average. It's ironic because the chicken and waffles themselves were pretty tasty but everything else about it took away from the dish- whipped cream and the peaches. After reading other reviews, seems like you come to the Drake Devonshire for the look and feel, not necessarily for the food. I would concur. Warning: We made reservations earlier but was told upon arrival that reservations are not for the patio. We weren't fussed about it so said okay to sitting inside. Man. The Drake. I've been here so many times and I can't quite encapsulate everything in one review. I've had brunches here, cocktails, dinners and lunches. Been with my kid, on date nights, with other couples and with big groups. There have been times that were two stars with snippy service and subpar food, but more recently I've really enjoyed the Drake and the stuff I eat and drink there. The food has kind of shifted from grasping at big city palates towards a more authentic feeling of what the County is about. The plating is fresher and with less of the stuffy urban stuff they used to do. There's simply a lot more going on in PEC than there used to be and there's nothing to prove. My friend and I sat outside on the patio, which had a nice view on the lake, however the atmosphere still couldn't keep us long enough to finish a sangria pitcher. The food was mediocre, and I was sorely disappointed that after the server told us they were out of mussels, a table that arrived after us was somehow able to order that very dish. The decor, location and atmosphere were great; however, it was the service that truly set Drake Devonshire apart from others! My wife and I went to Prince Edward County for our anniversary and through a recommendation from a friend, we made reservations. FYI - you'll need reservations for dinner but patio is walk-in only. We ordered the crab cakes ($19) as an appetizer, which I highly recommend. They came with corn, jalapeños and sat on top of an amazing corn sauce. We literally cleaned that plate dry. We also got the kale salad, which was really refreshing ($15). For main course, we ordered the steak and fries and all I can say is PORTION ALERT! They are very generous with their portion sizes. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse tart ($11) which comes with a vanilla sorbet. This was actually one of the best desserts I have ever had...must try if you are at the Drake. Throughout the meal, the staff continuously ensured we had an amazing experience and were extremely friendly. I can't remember the last time I've had service that great. Not the easiest to get to but worth it when you arrive. Over the decades (since 1860), the building had changed several owners and in 2012, it was sold to The Drake Hotel. The restaurant/Inn is right at the waterfront. When visiting Price Edward County (PEC), The Drake Devonshire is a must visit restaurant and Inn inside a historical building overseeing the lake front. The restaurants sources as much of their ingredients locally and makes many items such as the burgers, buns, sauces and ice-cream from scratch which lends to the quality and taste of the food. Do try to make reservations well in advanced. For dinner, I ordered the Devonshire Burger with 6 oz Prinzen beef, with Black River cheddar, shredded lettuce, onion, crispy bacon, and Russian dressing on a house-made milk bun with hand cut fries ($18). I requested the burger to be done medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. The burger was juicy, well seasoned with thick slices of bacon. My husband ordered the Roast Suckling Pig with slow roasted milk-fed pork with house-made milk buns, turmeric fermented cabbage and beet mustard ($24). My husband made little sandwiches and enjoyed every bite. As for suggestions, I would lower the price of the children's menu (it was around $18) and I would offer a complimentary slice of cake for special occasions. Great first impressions. read more

An absolutely beautiful view overlooking the water! The food was okay, I can say it was pretty good but not spectacular - we only had a few apps and a glass of wine. Given it's one of the few similar locations in PEC, little regard for customer care. It's more of a "we know what we offer, we know you're going to come anyway" approach. My third time here for lunch in the last 2 years. The location is so nice. The service is fine. The food is quite average in my opinion. But the view and relaxed vibe on the patio kind of makes one overlook the dishes to a certain extent. Fish and chips was OK, but $24 for one mid sized slab of haddock and some fries and a tablespoon of coleslaw is a bit much. The burger was good, and better value. Lobster roll was OK. Had a very pedestrian bottle of Grange Riesling ($60) for the 3 of us. The service is Toronto style, attractive people who keep a respectful distance. Will return to try dinner someday. I first was hesitant to go here from the mixed reviews (as well as some rumours from the locals) but thought why not go and find out ourselves? So then we went...and actually LOVED it! We made a reservation in advance as it was a long weekend. We requested the patio and the view was breathtaking...the breeze was so nice and we were able to see a glimpse of the sunset. Now, as for the food, yes it tasted great but yes compared to other nice restaurants nearby the price was a bit steep. The drink menu was quite interesting and was pleasant to see some fancy virgin cocktail menu for non-drinkers (though I ordered a sangria for myself). The server was pretty quiet but friendly... I almost wish there was more of a "conversation" about the area or travel plans and such as we were tourists but from what I've heard they hire staffs from Toronto, not local... The service I would say was generally on the slow side as we waited for the main dish (we shared a delicious home made shrimp pasta ) for quite a bit (like 30 min?). We weren't in a rush or anything and the view was nice so didn't really complain. While we waited for the dessert we stepped out of our seats and walked down to the shore where you can sit on chairs facing the beautiful lake. Overall the food and drink was delicious! But I would say they should go easy on the price and try hiring locals because when I was eating there I almost forgot where I was geographically, and based on my experience travelling there I think that one of the greatest things about Prince Edward County, aside from the beautiful nature, fresh produce and endless vineyards, were the "people." Overall the food was just ok, especially when we walked in with such high expectation. We would have expected better for the price. However, that's not the reason why we think it only worths one star. If it allows, I would have given negative. We visited for brunch in a group of 11 last weekend at around 12:30. We made reservation the night before so the wait was not too too bad. The manager was nice and helpful. However the waitress was the total opposite. It took so long for her to take our orders and she walked away in the middle of the conversation without finishing taking everyone's order. Later she spilt burning hot coffee on two of us without apologizing. One of our order never came. Later when we requested to separate the bill by couples, she messed up and reprinted the bills three times but she still couldn't get them right. The worst thing was, which I still couldn't believe, that she would actually say "let's be adult and figure it out yourselves". That's totally unacceptable. Maybe we had high expectations but we were greatly disappointed. We went to celebrate our anniversary and made a reservation for dinner. Based on the menu, pricing and website, we thought this was a higher end restaurant and dressed up a bit. We chose to sit on the patio because it was a nice evening. Unfortunately, the decor is similar to a beach side burger joint. Most people were dressed very casually in shorts and t-shirts, there were quite a few children and a dog. I love dogs but we quickly felt maybe this wasn't the place to celebrate a special occasion. We are not big appetizer eaters, but we did order the bread and butter. It was just ok. My husband had a beer and I ordered the white sangria. It was quite good but the presentation fizzled with a thick full slice of lemon plopped into the drink. I ordered the steak frites and my husband had the schnitzel. My steak might as well have been from Costco. It had no flavour and was not tender. It was placed on a large bed of what I believe was cooked collard greens...definitely disgusting and I feel a poor match with steak and fries. At Barberian prices, I felt my steak should have been amazing. My husband's meal was very tasty but the chicken was dry. We both made the mistake of ordering desserts, which were crap. My chocolate torte tart (with drunken cherries) came sliding around the plate with a few dry berries and no cherries. The waiter quickly got me a little tin dish of cherries, but it was hard not to be disappointed. The waiter explained that they are so short-staffed that bussers are helping with the prepping and that's why my cherries were missed. Don't waste your money on the these over-priced, grocery store type desserts. For two, our meal was almost $190. That was the two drinks, bread and butter, two mains, two desserts and tip. We walked away feeling hosed. The only positive of the entire meal was our waiter who was very experienced, efficient and polite. We understand these are difficult times for the service industry and we were more than patient, but it was just really disappointing to have a special occasion ruined by a "trendy" over-priced restaurant. Honestly, skip Prince Edward County all together and go to Europe for a weekend...it would truly be cheaper. read more

We planned to have breakfast here as we had heard great things about the view. The entrance to the place is somewhat nondescript and we weren't quite sure we were in the right place. There are signs indicating that parking is only for overnight guests, but no signs as to where to park if you are just coming to eat. We ended up parking in the lot as there were a lot of spaces. Staff were courteous and helpful. It wasn't very busy which was nice. We went out to the patio and we were able to enjoy a stunning view during breakfast. We took our coffees down to the water while we waited for our food to arrive. Staff brought puzzle pieces for my two year old which was great. Food was okay, and I can't complain but it wasn't amazing. It was fairly standard, but the view can't be beat. For two adults and one child we paid around $60 for breakfast which is a little on the high side for breakfast. Overall, we had a good experience. read more
