He appropriately holds his students to high standards and engages them in a way that makes them want to meet those standards. You will learn real skills, re self discipline here. Master Kim is patient and gives each student attention. He works with individual needs. He has a great team and Ms.Henley is very supportive and friendly. She works well with Master Kim rounding out the entire experience for the class. You're not a number here. You're a team member! Adding to this review: we are almost 1 year into this experience and again couldn't be happier and looks like we will be renewing the membership. We'll keep you updated. Our 10 year old son has long term goals with this program that he has developed on his own and hopes to be an instructor here some day.

If you are considering enrolling your child here, please beware of their hidden, long-term contract…read morecommitments and completely untrustworthy management. We signed up for what we were told was a simple 3-month trial program. At the end of the trial, Miss Henley rushed my husband as he was leaving class and pushed him to sign a "renewal" agreement without ever disclosing it was a legally binding 1-year contract.Due to a family relocation, a newborn baby, and sharing one vehicle, it became impossible for our child to attend. When we physically went to the facility to request a cancellation, the staff clearly ignored us being present, rudely claiming they were "too busy in class" to speak with us. When they finally addressed us, they brushed us off entirely and claimed that their third-party billing platform, ZenPlanner, was their official cancellation partner and that we had to handle it through them. All of a sudden, the story completely changed. She informed us that they are no longer with ZenPlanner, and suddenly she magically had the power to cancel it himself--but only if we paid the remaining contract balance in full! To make matters even more dishonest, they keep shifting their own rules to convenience themselves: their earlier emails explicitly stated that a relocation distance of over 20 miles qualified for cancellation, but they arbitrarily changed that requirement to 25 miles just to reject our request and trap us.Despite our child not stepping foot in the facility for nearly 6 months, they relentlessly auto-deducted tuition and forced us to pay out a massive fee for the rest of the year just to be released. They show zero empathy for local families, ignore you when you stand in front of them, and constantly change their policies to force you into a financial chokehold. Do not trust their "trial" offers or their word!

Not just for kids!…read more My sister (18) and I (24) decided to try this place out with a Groupon. Even though it says "Karate for Kids" on the building I read that they did adult classes, and it's next door to where I live, so I couldn't pass on trying it out. I'm glad I did! The instructors are top-notch, most if not all have been learning under Chief Master Sustaire since they were little kids, so they really care about the place. The instructors often break off and work with very small groups individually, and you don't ever really feel like you're just a person in an exercise class. My favourite part is the laid-back atmosphere. I was nervous when I started that it would feel like a bootcamp, but it doesn't at all! Yes, there are plenty of core exercises and the occasional round of push-ups, but if you can't do them, or if you fall half-way through, no one says anything. They expect you to try your hardest and they don't go all drill-sergeant if you stop your plank position 15 seconds early. They don't say anything at all, and it creates a very comfortable environment where you're trying hard because you want to, not because someone's yelling at you. HOW IT WORKS After the try-it-out period (I went on a Groupon that has since been discontinued, but always offer some kind of try-it-out special), you pay the flat monthly fee and you get unlimited classes. I go about 4 times a week, but as an adult, I have the opportunity to go up to 8, sometimes 9. Yes, they do continue to charge you for two months after you give them notice that you're leaving. You are expected to continue to come to class for those two months, so you're not getting robbed. I can't say that I 100% agree with this practice, but I understand why they do it. They want to rely on a consistent income, and they don't want people to quit just because they're having a bad week. I bet they get a lot of people who end up changing their mind and staying after the 2 months. ATA I know a lot of people really hate ATA (The American Taekwondo Association) and see it as one giant money grab. And there's definitely an argument for that. ATA schools (like this one) require that you have only ATA sparring gear, and the price for testing into a new belt is higher than some non-ATA Taekwondo schools. But I wouldn't let that turn you away. There are plenty of second-hand ATA sparring gear sets online, and the awesome personal instruction you get more than makes up for the occasional nickle-and-dime'ing by ATA.

Fun and you learn a lot, and they have a nice mix of discipline and caring for their studentsread more

I've also witnessed an increase of self confidence, assertion, focus and ability to follow instruction, not only in my daughter, but from every single kid in our belt level classes. Some progress faster than others, but definitive progress is obvious none-the-less. The ability of these instructors to instill those actions in kids is beyond what I've seen in other youth programs. Now, on to cost as referred to by some other reviewers. Yes, it's expensive. However, you get to go to an unlimited number of classes so you get out of it what you put in. If you go once a week, you'll get once a week value. If you go more, then you'll get more for your investment and see a faster development of skill. Every business can improve, and Tiger Rock is not immune to benefit from a tweak here or there. For example, they really need to pro-rate months like December when they're closed for two weeks. And I witnessed one communication snafu. But overall, we find a lot of value and growth in this program and plan to continue for a long time. Certainly deserving of the 5 stars.

He has been going there for a little over a year now, and completed the Tiger Club program. He has now turned 6 and moved up to the white/yellow belt classes. The main instructor is amazing with the kids... ALL of the kiddos. He has an amazing staff that assists with the kids. They offer classes all week long, and for a very low monthly tuition, you can attend as many as you like. My son is very excited to come home after class and show me the things he has learned. He was a bit of a hyper kid when he started, but I can definitely tell that he has matured through this program, and their instructors!!! They continue to impress us!! Highly recommend!
