Another outstanding meal! I've never been disappointed by any dish I've had at Dragonfly Asian Bistro. I tend to steer away from the old Chinese staples from the past like sweet & sour anything but the cubes of salmon in a not-too-sweet sauce was really a surprise ($22). The Happy Family ($23) is a required dish I've renamed "Happy Leftovers." The best of everything stir-fried perfectly in a very light savory sauce: prawns, scallops, chicken, beef, and veggies. Just this and rice is a complete meal actually. The Cashew chicken ($20) and Scallion beef ($20) thin slices of beef, velveted with cornstarch, stir-fried with scallions, shallots, ginger and garlic and a brown sauce that tasted like it had sesame oil, and oyster or hoisin sauce, rounded out our order. Parking is still easy and plentiful. Totally ADA accessible. Inside is a little more upscale (good for date nights) and the full bar is really classy for being in a shopping center that shares space with Walmart. Family-owned and operated. No kids menu but unless yours is super picky, there are a lot of dishes to choose from most kids will eat. As about patio seating when the weather is nice. People-watching is epic! read more

Great food in a crazy-good location. The corner of the building lends itself to a beautiful patio that was perfect on a warm Spring day. The servers and host were all very kind. We had the General Tso's, Kung Pao, broccoli beef, family mix, and cashew chicken. Also added garlic green beans and lettuce wraps. The General Tso's was the best I've ever had Anywhere. Not breaded (a good thing) but nicely fried with a good spicy sauce. King pao was also great but pretty spicy--or maybe I just ate too many of the dried tai chilies . Highly recommended read more

We love the food from Dragonfly. They have one of best hot and sour soups around and the best chow mien. Tonight they exemplified customer service. We ordered take out via GH and the massive idiot of a driver left 2/3rds of our order at Dragonfly. The extremely nice gentleman who normally mans the host station personally drove that part of the order to our house and delivered it on advance of the idiot GH driver. That is above and beyond!!! I'd seen people raving about this new Chinese restaurant on Nextdoor and I'm always on the hunt for good Chinese food here in the 'burbs. I had high hopes. Made a reservation (and glad I did because there were people waiting and it was busy) for 4 people. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. But then we waited a good 25 minutes before anyone even made eye contact so we could tell them we were ready to order. We ordered the pot stickers, General Tso's Chicken, Kung Pow Prawns, Garlic Green Beans, and Scallion Beef. Pot stickers were great. And the rest of the food was fine. It all needed a little more flavor, imo. Seemed like quality ingredients were used. My biggest complaint, besides the incredibly slow service, is the portion size. Typically we'd have leftovers ordering all that food but not here. We ate it all and were actually still hungry. For the prices (~$19 each for items with proteins) I would expect significantly larger portions. The food is good, don't get me wrong, but it's way expensive for what it is. Was in town for work and wanted to try this place. I ordered the combination chow mein and a small won ton soup to go. The chow mein was flavorful and delicious. It had shrimp, chicken, pork, green onion, carrots, bok choy in a dark sauce. The soup was good and had two won tons. The restaurant decor was very modern and upscale and well decorated. The gentleman who waited on me was really nice. Food came out in 5-6 minutes. Definitely a good find for future trips. read more

Hands down the best Chinese restaurant we've been to! We eat here at least once a week and every time, the food, service, drinks and overall experience is 5 star. Jason is always so friendly and welcoming at every visit and the staff is so nice and very attentive. We haven't had any bad dishes ever and we highly recommend sesame shrimp or beef, kung pao chicken, cashew nut chicken, beef with broccoli, lettuce wraps and egg rolls and more!! They also have a beautiful patio area to sit and eat or have a drink. It's really nice and shaded and very inviting. I look forward to visiting every week! read more

A friend of mine who knows the owners told me this was open and so I was so excited to try this. Firstly, the interior, at the end of a strip mall next to Walmart is gorgeous! The colors are warm and the wallpaper is pretty. It's a very spacious restaurant and there's even a separate private dining area. Now to the food, it was delicious! We ordered the shrimp rolls to start and they were nicely crispy with shrimp inside served with sweet and sour and mustard sauce. They have lunch specials that include white rice but you can upgrade to fried or brown rice for just $1. The Kung pao chicken is delicious and savory. The lunch portion was perfectly sized and we ate it all. Hot tea came with the meal. The server was learning her job but was very attentive and refilled drinks and took away service plates in a timely manner. Overall, a 5 star experience and I wish them a lot of success! read more

I had heard a lot of positive posts on Nextdoor about Dragonfly Asian Bistro, so thought I'd give it a try. What a costly and disappointing mistake! This is some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had, and it was expensive! I ordered on Grubhub and it arrived hot and fast. So far, so good, but unfortunately, that is where the good part ends. First of all, they use plastic food containers, no paper boxes. Hot food in plastic containers is gross! Secondly, the portion sizes are small for the high cost - at least fill up the container when you're charging $20-$23 for an entree! Third, they didn't pay attention to the extras I paid for, and fourth, the food is just plain lacking flavor! I ordered the combination rice and asked for them to add onion and scallions for an extra charge. Nope, they didn't do either. I couldn't see or taste onion at all. There was very little meat in the rice, but a lot of egg and the rice was basically flavorless. Next was the General Tso's chicken. The sauce was watery, and the chicken used is thigh meat and it isn't deep fried. The container was about half full. Last, and the worst, was the happy family. This was a real disaster and complete waste of money! It was more like unhappy family soup! The "sauce" was like a clear broth, very watery, even more so than the General Tso's sauce and it has zero flavor! There were two shrimp and two scallops. The one shrimp I ate tasted old. The whole dish was flavorless, no seasoning at all. The vegetables were fresh, but it was seriously like a weird soup of red and yellow bell pepper, sugar snap peas, mushrooms, zucchini, carrot (one piece) and broccoli. Unlike any happy family I've ever had. The cost for the food alone was $55.50, total cost was $66. The "soup" is going in the trash, it's that bad. Hopefully, the General Tso's chicken will taste better the next day. Not sure if it's worth eating the flavorless rice. If I could get a refund from Grubhub, I would request it, but because the food isn't "spoiled" or the order is mostly correct, they don't care if you like it or not. I will never order from Dragonfly Asian Bistro again, and I won't recommend anyone else do either. Sorry, I know the restaurant business is tough these days, but for $55 I should be able to enjoy the food, and this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had, and I order delivery/take-out a lot. Hopefully, this was just a fluke, but I won't try again, it was a costly mistake. Oh, and no fortune cookies, soy sauce packets or napkins with the order either! So disappointing all the way around! read more

We were greeted promptly as we entered and seated right away. Our service service was good and friendly. Our water glasses were never empty and I appreciated that. They have a full bar as well as caned sodas. I took my friend out to lunch to celebrate her birthday so I let her choose the items we were going to share versus the individual lunch specials. The Sesame beef was our favorite and so delicious. I really liked the sweet n sour prawns and their sauce. The fried won tons were a little undercooked in the middle and the sweet n sour sauce that accompanied them was not my favorite sauce at all. If you served the warm sweet n sour sauce from the prawns that would be sooooo amazing. We dipped our won tons in that sauce and it was a game changer. We also ordered the combination fried rice which seemed to be lacking flavor but it did have a good amount proteins in the rice. We were each served a small bowl of soup. The egg flower soup was flavored very well. My friend loved her hot n sour soup. The prices are a bit high for the portion size. Overall an okay experience. read more

Pretty disappointed considering the hype about this place. As a local couple from Hawaii, we have standards for a Chinese meal and this didn't cut it. Crispy noodle tasted good but was not crispy. Hubby said fat noodles can't get crispy. Happy Family was not tasty and was cold. Tasted like happy "leftovers". Won ton had cream cheese which was not only surprising but disappointing. While our server was really nice, she forgot our tea and we had to request it again after all the food came. The restaurant doesn't give you chop sticks unless you request them too. Very good service and the food was great! Some of the best hot and sour soup I have had. I had the green beans combination and a friend had the shrimp with vegetables. My partner came across this place because it was the highest rated Chinese food around, and it did not disappoint. For our appetizer we ordered the potstickers, and I ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup. I haven't had this good of hot and sour soup since the 90s - I actually quit ordering it bc it's always been a letdown. On to the potstickers: they were doughy on the inside yet crispy on the outside and lightly toasted. General Tso's chicken - juicy on the inside with a light fried coating. You can tell this restaurant does not double fry (like some restaurants do to save cost and money and also flavor). We ordered one of their specialty cocktails: the volcano bowl - refreshing and dangerous! It was served with an actual fire coming from inside the cutup lime which I thought was pretty cool. Their condiment chili oil is actually spicy and tastes homemade. (Idk if that's actually the case, but it tastes fresh and spicy.) Decor is eye-catching. Beautiful high-ceiling green walls with an accent wall of green flowers its gold foil finishes. 100% I will go here again, and my partner agrees that he will do too as well. read more

Just completed a very pleasant experience at Dragonfly Asian Bistro. Don't be fooled by the location. This is a GEM sharing the parking lot with Walmart near Costco. You wouldn't know it when inside or in the covered patio outdoors where wife and I spent our dinnertime with our dog. They brought our dog water and she basically slept through dinner which tells you how peaceful it was. The patio is covered and you see a lot of trees and greenery so you don't feel like you are adjacent to a Walmart parking lot. The owner used to own Hunan Pearl where i often frequented before they changed. I'm glad I found his new establishment. Food was well made and what I expected. Had a special with General tso + shrimp dish I can't remember the name of, and garlic green beans. They were excellent. also had the hot and sour soup, a must if you go chinese. We got so full I had leftovers. I highly recommend this restaurant. I wonder if they could change the signage at the entrance of the parking lot that also includes a teriyaki place, Walmart, and other stores so that it stands out a bit more or change the sign outside the resturant itself so you can see it from the all sides better. read more

I saw some pics on this page that weren't on the menu, nor even when I called to get the daily specials, but they actually accommodated me and prepared an order of the EXCELLENT shrimp balls (they said they needed time to prepare them earlier in the day when I called). They also prepared a sesame salmon entree that was so delish! My sib's fave was the wontons app--said it was exceptional, but everything was good. Thank you for your kindness and accommodations. Tucked away in Tigard is this quaint Asian bistro with simple but delicious menu. It's not much to take in external but the interior is spacious and presents private dining, bar, and lots of tables. The service is fast and friendly with great lunch specials during the week. read more

We got the General Tso's and it was immaculate. We also had the basil chicken and it felt like my Chinese grandma invited me to her cookout, amazing. I personally had a bowl of the Wonton soup and it hit all the right spots, with rich ups and downs that manipulated my taste buds. Very nice place. The atmosphere is well above average when compared to similar Chinese/Asian restaurants in the area. I would call it slightly upscale! The important stuff... The food... The menu is pared down, not as vast, when compared to other local Chinese/Asian restaurants. What they do create is very, very good. But, the downside for all of this is higher than average prices and reduced portion sizes. So, it depends on what the future diner is looking for... Well executed dishes in very nice surroundings, or lots of food for a cheap price... Don't just listen to me, make up your own mind... But I advise trying the Dragonfly at least once! read more

Restaurant is very clean and pretty. Service was prompt and very friendly. The food was pretty, hot, and well presented. But it was so bland. Garlic green beans were salty. The rest had hardly any flavor. Kept going back for another bite hoping it would get better. Food looked so good. It was not bad just had no flavor. I really wanted to love it. Sorry. I would not come to this restaurant to eat. There are so many others in Portland. Find the flavor and then it would have 5 stars because everything else was perfect. read more
