It's been awhile since I've had real dim sum, since it's hard to get the full experience where I live now, in Tokyo. But back in NY, we had it good. My husband and I went today, got 8 dishes and a tea, and our total came to NZD$65, which is USD $46 or $23 per person. In NY, we never paid more than $7-10 per person, so the price was kind of shocking. The food came out pretty quick, and was good for the most part, though the spare ribs with black bean sauce had way too much garlic and not enough black bean sauce. Service was friendly--our waitress offered to change out our roast pork buns for roast pork puff pastry when I said (mistakenly) that I had ordered the latter. I never expect good or friendly service at any Chinese restaurant, though, so this was a nice surprise.

Dragon Boat is one of many eateries in this food court. I just happened to choose this restaurant because i was crazy hungry. I had the Roast Duck on Rice lunch combo. The meal was not bad. It wasn't memorable either. I gave 3 stars for the value of the meal. Good amount of food for the price.

it's never too early (10.30am) for a weekend session of yum cha. so much food kept coming out if the kitchen! I must admit I do like a good steamed dumpling and theirs did not disappoint. freshly made and piping hot, the prawn and coriander dumplings hit the spot. the skins of the fried pork dumplings were made of thick sticky rice, I think, the texture making them more delicious. their deep fried squid was a little too oily, but I'll forgive them as the rest of the feast was very tasty. even though we were full by the end of our session, we managed to find a little more room to finish off with a sweet treat - egg custard tarts. all in all a very delicious meal complimented by friendly service.

The food was cold and greasy. Price is too high for dim sum . Service was slow. Overall experience just horrible, won't be back !

The service here is quick and frequent and the food on par with any other good Yum Char houses.

The four of us got the full roasted duck, fried rice, roasted pork, shiu mai, and shrimp dumplings. I will start by saying that this restaurant was really expensive, even the green beans were almost $50NZ so just be weary that you will spend a lot here. However, the food was amazing! Roasted duck: definitely the highlight of the meal. For $80 NZ, I felt like it was the best value for the price. Super tender meat, great texture on the skin, and wonderful taste overall Fried Rice: Great base for all of the other dishes. Also came with a spicy chili oil that put this dish over the top! Roasted Pork: I personally wish the skin was a bit thicker and crispier but my friends all thought it was good. There were also complaints about the pork being relatively fat heavy, but I thought it was a great balance. Shiu mai and Shrimp dumplings: Pretty basic but still delicious! Recommend if you enjoy. 1/4 of the shrimp dumpling peels fell apart when grabbing it. Overall would definitely recommend coming here for great food but expect to spend a pretty penny! All of this was about $250NZ

The outside is deceptive, they don't look nearly that large, but clearly they get big crowds and are used to it. Got there early so hard to properly evaluate service (which was excellent, even a little overbearing) as they were virtually empty when I walked in. The dim sum itself was from so-so to just okay, the har cheung fun (shrimp rice noodle roll) was a good example: skins too thick, shrimp not memorable at all. Beef tripe (ngau paak yip) is usually a pale white but well seasoned, this one was off in color and perhaps a tad over-steamed as the texture wasn't perfect. It was adequate if you need your dim sum fix.

Their menu is huge! With everything from soup to meat dishes, vegetables, rice, noodles, and dim sum, they have it all! My biggest complaint here though is the price. They have set menus for $28-45/person basically but they didn't have a set menu that had everything we really liked. But if you order off their regular menu, 1 dish was around $30 so it really adds up quickly when you order family style. As far as the food goes, everything was pretty good! We tried their wonton soup, seafood baby spinach soup, crispy roast duck, sauteed green beans/eggplant in black bean sauce, yangchow fried rice, and stir fried beef egg noodles. Luckily portions were big, the food came out piping hot, and everything tasted great! I would recommend China Yum Char to others! The food was better than expected, and service was great!

Of course I did! I wanted to try all of them! Bank balance be damned! Here are some of my favourite items from the menu: deep fried squid, prawn spring rolls, prawn dumplings, spinach dumplings... prawns prawns dumplings dumplings, repeat. I lost count of how many tiny morsels I stuffed into my gob, but they were all amazing. At the end of the meal we were offered "deep fried milk", which we were to discover was deep fried sweetened condensed milk. Eating one of these little packages was an absolute finishing move for me and I had to go home for a lie down... and a long hard think about my dining habits!
