High fructose corn syrup costs more than hops in a beer. Let that sink in. Bathrooms are nasty dirty, like a dive bar. 18% gratuity is added which fine for wait staff who has to service a table 5-10 times during a meal. However, it's excessive for cashier/counter service and movie theater staff who only drop off food/drinks. To add insult to injury, they add and additional 5% tip if you don't 'close the check' within 20 minutes of the movie ending. Adding a 23% tip, plus issues listed are exactly why places like this vanish during recessions. For better theater experiences, try Paragon Fenton in Cary or Regal in North Hills.

Some exhibits are temporary but it feels all connected now. Admission is free but they do ask for a $5 donation. With COVID the interactive exhibits are closed. There is a guide book you can get at the front desk. There is plenty to read without the interactive aspects. The museum is doing a great job with COVID procedures. There is hand sanitizer when you enter. They do take your name and temperature and ask the routine questions about feeling ill and if you have traveled in the past two weeks. They even have masks if you forgot yours as they are required. Currently, the exhibits are the City of Raleigh history over 200 years; Dwane Powell's political cartoons; Women of Change (about the 19th Amendment); Dorothea Dix history of the hospital and it becoming a park; and another about Raleigh musicians. I was lucky enough to meet Dwane Powell on an earlier visit to the museum in 2018 so glad they have kept his work on display after his passing. The tributes added my other comics was a nice touch. I highly recommend visiting this gem of a museum.

We arrived at 6:30, two hours before Willie started performing, and there was NO handicapped parking left. I had to push my 90 year mother-in-law's wheel chair for half a mile. When we got near the entrance we saw that there were PLENTY, I MEAN DOZENS, of the $30 premium parking spaces empty. A $200 ticket, especially for a 90 year handicapped person should include parking in one of those spots. I will NEVER go back to that HELL HOLE. Read about the frustration economy.
