The lovely hostesses Mary K Mart and Marilyn Merlot are sure to make your bellies chuckle as you frantically dab your numbers as they're hollered out. Last Saturday's event was on the NC Fairgrounds for Super Hero themed bingo. Though the acoustics were horrible in the Kerr Building, this didn't jeopardize the fun that was had by all... just good, sober fun :) There was a concession stand and other small businesses selling various goods around the room. Some of the queens put on a show in between games, and it seemed like everyone was just having a lovely time. I think they said there were more than 1000 tickets sold.... and they raised more than $25,000 that night alone! I had a delightful time & I'm eager to go to the next event!

Go to their site for tickets in advance (cheaper) or pay at the door to support this event and a great charity. Once there, you will enjoy the entertaining BVDs (Bingo Verifying Divas) including MCs Mary K Mart and Marilyn Merlot and a large host of others as they call out the bingo numbers as well as perform musical numbers with their special kind of sassy diva comedy. Each event has its own theme, such as July was Stars and Stripes Drag Bingo with the entertainers reflecting the theme of course. The actual location of each event rotates so be sure to look on the fliers and the website (listed on their Yelp page here) for the location that month. People of all ages come out to enjoy these events and that the proceeds go to a great cause, it's hard to resist. They even have concessions such as drinks, corn dogs, nacho bar, ice cream, popcorn, etc. so you won't get the hungrys while you play bingo. It's a full night of fun going usually from around 630p to about 10p. Of course there are prizes to be won, so what else do you need?

Had the impression that there was a snack bar but they only serve chips and water/ sodas. There is a bar but I suppose you'd need to be a member. They do call fast so as another "yelper" advised don't buy too many cards. I'm not a novice but had some trouble keeping up on some games. We had fun though and when in the area will return.

I went to Alamo Drafthouse for a preview of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and had such a good time! The…read moremovie was amazing, the acting was great, and as someone who loved the original, it was so much fun getting to experience this one at Alamo. One of my favorite things about this theater is that it's more than just somewhere to watch a movie. You can order food and drinks right from your seat, but I also love all the nostalgia throughout the theater. Between the arcade games, old movies, music and little throwback details, there's always something to look at or talk about. They also have a sit-in area where you can grab something to eat, hang out and actually connect with other people before or after your movie. It gives the whole place more of a social atmosphere instead of everyone just watching a movie and immediately leaving. Such a fun experience, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 was the perfect movie for it. Alamo continues to be one of my favorite theaters!

The food is good. But I've been several times and each time my entree has taken an unnecessarily long amount of time to get to me. I place my order at the beginning, and multiple times I haven't gotten it until midway or close to the end of the movie. If their service could improve, this place would be a 5 star.

Came here recently for a kids' show and had an OK time…read more First, Google Maps was telling us to take a very different route than the one we ended up taking by following the street signs directing us to Koka Booth Ampitheatre. Maybe we were being directed to the front of the venue instead of the parking lot? Anyway, not sure if we would have ended up in the same place, but just a word of caution :) We arrived shortly before the start of the show and I was pretty shocked at the traffic. We waited in line for a long time before realizing that we were in the "preferred parking" line (where we'd have to pay $15) instead of the free parking that was a bit further away. Since we didn't want to be late, we paid for the parking :) There were plenty of free spots available, so that was nice. The walk to the ampitheatre was actually really nice and shaded with big tall trees. There was a front large lawn area and then a covered seating area with tables and chairs set up behind it. There were a ton of people, especially on the lawn, but we snagged a table in the corner and had a decent view of the stage. I was then sent off to grab popcorn for the family. They had a bunch of different lines for concessions, which included a variety of snacks and drinks, including beer :) Hurray! My line moved pretty slowly and I had to wait for fresh popcorn to be made, so it took maybe 15 to 20 minutes to actually get my food and get back to my family. The show sounded OK - I think it was a little quiet, but there were kids present so that kind of makes sense. I think it would have been nice to have screens so that people who were sitting far away could see the performance better. We left shortly before the end of the main set (our son was getting tired and/or bored) and traffic was fine getting out. Overall, it was an OK time. Parking was a little stressful and it felt a little hectic inside. I'd maybe come back here to see a performance if I was super into the artist, but I don't think the venue itself is really a draw.
