    Damage to my dress.
    Abbie G.

Irresponsible placement of a burning candle caused my veil and dress to catch fire in the lounge at the masquerade event. I asked to speak to a manager about this serious issue at the bar, and was told "it's the owner's birthday," before the charmer of an owner acted condescending and dismissive at me for daring to complain. All I really wanted to hear was a sincere apology, and the removal of the candle from the seating area so it wouldn't ruin anyone else's night. What I got in return was a "wicked" double down, "Yeah, we have *real* candles here!" Look, I don't care if a place has real candles. My point was that maybe it's not a good idea to have a (frankly-unnoticeable) black candle two inches away from a seat during an event whereby the establishment encouraged people to dress in masks, synthetics, cloaks, and gowns. In a bar area. In a venue that is not lit well. I was being nice to other patrons by moving over a seat so there'd be room for them to sit, and got literally burned for it because of the owner's idea that this is ~aesthetic~ It could have been worse, and then what would this owner have done? All that said, when I asked if there's anything the owner could do he shook his head and told me no. After begging, I had my two drinks refunded because I had to go home due to the hole in my expensive dress (nevermind the $20 ticket I paid to set foot in the venue). Yet the owner couldn't even execute this request without being agitated and throwing his hand in my direction like I was some unreasonable customer stereotype (which is hilarious because I've worked in customer service for years and I know I wasn't being bad as most others would have been in this scenario). I would have cried if I hadn't been so disgusted by his behavior. Maybe this establishment and its owner feels that it can treat their patrons this way because there's no competition for alternative scenes in this area. Perhaps this is the reason why when I tried to reach out, I discovered the phone number they list on their website is deactivated. Why the email listed on their website is invalid. Why they don't respond to messages on this facebook page even though they had someone update under 24 hours ago. And why they pretend to have zero accountability for things they are liable for. By the by: No, the venue isn't really impressive and it's kinda small & scuzzy inside (just like the owner). The drink prices are reasonable. The service is meh. It's difficult to find parking during events. But you might find a DJ booked here with alt music that you like if you can tolerate everything else, including the part where management sees you as a number. I'd never recommend this place in good faith.

If you like to dress the part for metal shows, stay far away from this place…read more If you are a metal fan who likes to express yourself through your outfits, the Ritz is not the venue for you. We came here for Hanabie and Nekrogoblikon and were treated like we were trying to breach a high security government facility. The security team here is something else. They targeted my girlfriend's outfit three separate times before finally letting us in. First it was the cuffs, then it was a studded bra that wasn't sharp at all, and finally a third guy decided her boots were a threat to national security. My girlfriend is autistic and she spent weeks meticulously putting this outfit together. For her, this is how she expresses herself and feels comfortable in a crowd. Watching these guards pick her apart piece by piece until she was in tears and having a breakdown was pathetic. They took the one thing she was most excited about and turned it into a reason to bully her. The logic was top tier. The guard told us she should just go to the Walmart across the street and buy a change of clothes. I really appreciated the fashion advice from a guy who looks like he spends his weekends LARPing as a riot cop. I was allowed in with a two pound metal wallet chain that was two feet long, but her 1/4 inch decorative studs were the real danger. My buddy has been in the metal scene for 15 years and has worn the same jacket to every show, but he was turned away too. I literally smacked his jacket spikes with my own hand a dozen times to show them it wouldn't even scratch a toddler, but they just stared at me with completely blank expressions. I guess their specialized training didn't cover physics. They only updated their website to mention sharp or spiked clothing after we made a scene about their nonsensical enforcement. The venue is nice once you get inside, but the security team's power trip ensured that my friends and I are never coming back.

The ADA seating came with a dedicated server, which made it much easier to get food and drinks. That said, the prices were astronomical -- we spent over $100 on a few drinks, some water, and fries. One of the drinks didn't even arrive until almost the end of the show because it had been forgotten. However, do not count on getting a ride share after the show. It was total chaos. The designated pickup location kept changing, and there was no clear communication about where drivers were supposed to go. People were walking a mile down the road just to try and find a ride. Others were ordering food to the parking. It was dangerous as folks were crossing in front of massive trucks and tour buses, trying to find their drivers. We ended up spending nearly $150 to get home because we had no other option. After seeing how much care the staff put into creating a great in-venue experience, it was really disappointing to be thrown into a mess the minute the show ended. I wouldn't return unless we had a designated driver. It's such a letdown that they haven't figured out a better system to get guests home safely.

We had ticket seating which was nice. The Yeti water stations are really nice. Parking up close was pricey at $50. Getting in and out of the park was easy. We ate ahead of time so no comment on the food. A great venue.
