    Damage to my dress.
    Abbie G.

Irresponsible placement of a burning candle caused my veil and dress to catch fire in the lounge at the masquerade event. I asked to speak to a manager about this serious issue at the bar, and was told "it's the owner's birthday," before the charmer of an owner acted condescending and dismissive at me for daring to complain. All I really wanted to hear was a sincere apology, and the removal of the candle from the seating area so it wouldn't ruin anyone else's night. What I got in return was a "wicked" double down, "Yeah, we have *real* candles here!" Look, I don't care if a place has real candles. My point was that maybe it's not a good idea to have a (frankly-unnoticeable) black candle two inches away from a seat during an event whereby the establishment encouraged people to dress in masks, synthetics, cloaks, and gowns. In a bar area. In a venue that is not lit well. I was being nice to other patrons by moving over a seat so there'd be room for them to sit, and got literally burned for it because of the owner's idea that this is ~aesthetic~ It could have been worse, and then what would this owner have done? All that said, when I asked if there's anything the owner could do he shook his head and told me no. After begging, I had my two drinks refunded because I had to go home due to the hole in my expensive dress (nevermind the $20 ticket I paid to set foot in the venue). Yet the owner couldn't even execute this request without being agitated and throwing his hand in my direction like I was some unreasonable customer stereotype (which is hilarious because I've worked in customer service for years and I know I wasn't being bad as most others would have been in this scenario). I would have cried if I hadn't been so disgusted by his behavior. Maybe this establishment and its owner feels that it can treat their patrons this way because there's no competition for alternative scenes in this area. Perhaps this is the reason why when I tried to reach out, I discovered the phone number they list on their website is deactivated. Why the email listed on their website is invalid. Why they don't respond to messages on this facebook page even though they had someone update under 24 hours ago. And why they pretend to have zero accountability for things they are liable for. By the by: No, the venue isn't really impressive and it's kinda small & scuzzy inside (just like the owner). The drink prices are reasonable. The service is meh. It's difficult to find parking during events. But you might find a DJ booked here with alt music that you like if you can tolerate everything else, including the part where management sees you as a number. I'd never recommend this place in good faith.

I visited The Ritz for a 2nd time yesterday to attend the Elmiene Songs For Someone Tour…read moreperformance. I was ecstatic when I learned he would finally visit the US for a tour and Raleigh was a stop. The staff did an amazing job controlling the crowds, providing hospitality, and safety. I parked in General Admission parking where I prepaid $14.00, it's the very last lot on your right. Entering was easy, getting out was a nightmare. Staff is needed following the event to direct the cars out of the spaces. There are other options for parking that will get you closer to the venue for $20+. We stood in line for about 45 minutes prior to entry. The staff managed the check in process very well. Everyone was friendly and hospitable. We were offered filtered water from the cooler jug where we stood for the show facing the front stage by the speakers & entrance to the back stage. Closest to bar and the exit. Cocktails were served in a cocktail shaker were sold for $22. We had an excellent view of the show. There is upper balcony seating for an additional Upgrade price, if you do not want to stand or be in the midst of the action. The Jupiter Lounge provides an elevated experience prior to show. Allowing you to unwind and have a cocktail. The temperature in the building was set to Alaska. Bring a light jacket and a small clear purse. I really enjoyed this show. The lighting and sound were terrific ! Memories were made. Thank you to the staff.

The artists don't start until about 2-2.5 hours after doors open, so keep that in mind. Found the opener performance for Santigold so boring/annoying after the first 15 minutes that I had to go out front and sit on a fold up chair with the bouncers to get away from it. Note also that you can't get back in e.g. with a stamp and new search; if you leave, you're out for good. Parking: pay for this, especially if you want to arrive later, but bring a smaller car. The guy parked everyone in so tightly and close to the fence we barely got out even with a small sporty vehicle. Purse: something around your neck with just ID and $/card. Don't bring even a clear purse as they'll stop you and go through your wallet anyway, and it's no fun to have on you when you're dancin' to the music. Artists: we've seen some pretty great concerts here, and it's always a more intimate experience. Feist was by far the best. Bring ear plugs to prevent hearing loss. Sound is superior.

Came here for a show recently and had a good time…read more I had a lawn ticket and was too cheap to rent a chair or blanket or anything like that, so I stood up most of the time :) I was in maybe the worst possible location (far right near the back of the lawn) but I could see the stage reasonably well and the audio was solid. On the negative side, the drinks were insanely expensive at $19 for a big can of "craft beer" (or $18 for the standard domestic options). Hot dogs were priced relatively reasonably at $5 each, but they were pretty gross. I should probably take off another star for these offenses but I guess I kind of expected it :) Parking is pretty easy since there are a bunch of parking decks nearby, and I think you can also find street parking. I did end up paying $10 to park in the Cabarrus Deck, but whatever. Overall, I would come back here to see a show, but I would definitely try to eat (and drink) beforehand.

Red hat has really great artists, mostly really uncomfortable seats (unless you are in the back…read morerows - those seats are nice), a teeny tiny lawn section, zero shade on hot or rainy days, very friendly staff, a mostly easy entrance experience, and a very limited bathroom situation. I'd like to give it a great review, as I go to a fair amount of concerts here and it's easy to get to, but honestly, in the summer for concerts I won't drink a single beer because I don't want to deal with the bathroom lines and it's sooooo hot. To their credit, they do have a lot of great food options though. Also, if you happen upon bad weather (calling for lightening specifically), they evacuate the whole venue and don't communicate well/often enough to figure out when to come back without missing the opener(s). Fun fact: you could watch the show from the parking deck across the street for $10 if you wanted to. I hope when they move they will work through the seating, the shade, and the bathroom issues.
