A friend recommended Chad when I was looking for a coach to support envisioning the next chapter of my career. I'm so glad I took the leap, as this work has improved all areas of my life-- not just at work. He connects aspects of mindfulness, spirituality, and psychology in a way that deeply resonated with me. The work was challenging, refreshingly to the point, and very much worth the effort. I felt supported through it all. Chad is an incredibly intuitive and generous coach, and I wish everyone was able to experience this kind of coaching and support. Go for it!

Working with Chad is more than just counseling, because he has a plan and structure to move you through reflection, meditation, and imagining the future that is intended to give you a roadmap and not just identify current feelings and challenges. I have done professional coaching before, and what Chad has the capacity to do is merge professional coaching with something much broader and more holistic than just looking at your professional behaviors and goals. I highly recommend him to anyone feeling like they are at an inflection point and need someone to help guide them to the next stage.

It's been 11 years since the last time I wrote a review. What could possibly inspire me to want to…read morewrite a review after such a long hiatus? One word: therapy. I still remember the day I reached out to Esther requesting for her psychotherapy service. I had just ordered all these self-help books via Amazon that were piling up on my nightstand, but my mind was all over the place and I couldn't find a way to focus on where to begin. If you googled the phrase "woe is me", the top result would probably be a photo of me. I needed someone to help navigate me through my anxious thoughts, someone to provide me with the right tools that would let me better articulate my feelings, someone to boost my confidence, but most importantly someone to just help me get a grip on my entire mental wellbeing. Fortunately shortly after reaching out to Esther, she was able to take me in. I remember feeling wary coming into our first session. I had worked with a few other therapists prior to her, but I didn't feel like I got to where I needed to be with them. I remember during that very first session I was experiencing so much anxiety and overthinking so many events in my life. The simple question of "how are you doing/what is going on in your life?" sent me into a spiral and I remember just crying and pouring out so many bottled up emotions. By the end of our first session, we practiced a cognitive diffusion exercise together and I remember immediately feeling a sense of relief. I felt so much more hopeful than at the beginning of our session and that if I gave it more time I could overcome the mental obstacles that were holding me back. What really solidified my decision to stick with Esther was her hands on approach. With other therapists, we would have a full session of chatting, maybe do an exercise or two, and then pick up again the following week with nothing to hold me accountable with what we practiced. But with Esther, she would assign me homework that would consist of more than just reading. Her assignments would really challenge me to get out of my scared little comfort zone. Then the following week she would always follow up to make sure I really completed that homework. Six months later of consistent therapy with Esther, I can confidently say I am in a much better head space. She's provided me with so many tools that really helped build my confidence and foster a better relationship with myself through emphasizing the importance of self care and just really speaking more kindly to myself. It sounds so simple, but it honestly is a lot of work. I'm so glad I got through it with Esther. She has such a kind, compassionate, and most importantly a nonjudgmental demeanor. I always felt safe during our sessions and that I could speak my mind no matter how silly I thought I might sound. She really helped boost my confidence and made me believe in myself and that under all this "woe is me" there truly is an amazing lovable confident person.

What I noticed right away is that Esther is so warm - she really provides a safe space and environment that encourages you to open up. Outside of this, what I appreciated the most through working with Esther is that she helped me identify and "name" my feelings and inclinations. I know everyone is different and has their own experiences but this was such a breakthrough for me because it allowed me to understand ME better. She helped me identify my own thoughts and feelings which now allows me to take a step back to recognize and break out of certain tendencies. She gave me the tools I needed to work through my anxieties and I'm so grateful that I now have an idea of how to help myself. She was also my cheerleader and reminded me to practice and prioritize self-care - something I have always neglected but am focused on working on moving forward! For those who are also new to therapy, I would recommend giving it at least two+ sessions as it won't always feel comfortable or natural at first! Thank you, Esther, for the time and space to present my authentic self and for coaching and guiding me through my feelings!

I have been advised by her pretty much three years to the day and I am a different person under her guidance. Sure it has taken some reconciliation on my part, but I would not be where I am had I not come and asked for her help. I had spoken to a handful of therapists when I first began looking and she was the one person I spoke with who let me come to all my own conclusions on my own. She is kind, but honest. I am a young female who needed the strength and guidance of a strong wiser female and that is exactly what I've found in her.

I came to Bridget a little over a year ago, completely lost, traumatized by particular events, and unhappy with most aspects of my life. Fast forward to present day, I have made a complete 180 and am absolutely certain I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today (an in such a short span of time) without her. My friends and family are still in shock at the amazing progress I've made, as I carried a lot of my troubles for quite some years. I've never felt more driven, confident, clear, or day to day happy. It's been hard work but she got in there with me and was the guiding force in making it happen. I didn't feel alone. Hands down, one of, if not, the best decision I've made in my life...for my life, was the one to see Dr. Bridget McKenna.
