Dr. Carianna has the best bedside manner I have ever experienced and I have seen countless of Doctors. She cares about her patients and she gives a little of herself in each consult. When I met her for our first consultation, I knew she was a kind-hearted, empathetic doctor. She really listened to me, she asked questions, and let me express myself. At times, I was sobbing, and needed a moment to collect myself, and she was very patient, understanding, and made me feel that she truly cared and wanted to help me. She never rushed during an appointment with me, and she always wanted to know how I was doing. She asked me to give her an update of the good, the bad and the ugly, everything I had experienced after each treatment. Dr. Carianna is very knowledgeable about Chinese herbs, homeopathic remedies and acupuncture. She uses all of this knowledge to help her patients. I love that she is not restricted by one specific avenue. One of the most useful remedies she gave me was a tea. At first I did not believe that a simple cup of tea a few times a day could help me drastically from the painful condition I had been suffering from for almost 2 years. After all, I had seen specialists and other conventional doctors who had no idea what was wrong with me, and claimed that they needed to do more invasive tests to put a name on my ailment. All of them claimed I would most likely never heal. Four months ago, in Vietnam, everything changed in a second…read more A motorcycle accident left my left hand shattered--four metacarpal bones broken. The prognosis wasn't encouraging. Function, mobility--even basic use of my hand--were uncertain. Back home in Florida, a skilled surgeon gave me a second chance. The reconstruction was complex, but successful. Still, surgery was only the beginning. What followed was the real challenge: rebuilding motion, retraining my hand, and recovering from significant nerve and tendon trauma. One month post-surgery, I turned to Dr. Xu, whose acupuncture treatment became a turning point in my recovery. I had just been diagnosed with a nerve syndrome where my brain was sending signals that my hand was still in distress, which was slowing down my recovery process. Through acupuncture and targeted hand massage deep tissue massage therapy, Dr Xu helped restore what felt lost. Progress was gradual and at times frustrating--but it was real. Session by session, movement returned. Strength followed. Control improved. She also introduced me to Rolfing therapy with Chris, which complemented the recovery in ways I hadn't expected, helping my body realign and release deeper tension connected to the injury. Today, at four months, I can almost fully close my fist. That may sound small, but it's everything. Without this care, I wouldn't be able to hold objects, work normally, or live day-to-day without limitation. What once felt uncertain is now within reach again.
