Other reviewers wrote all the praise that I came here to write, so I'll just add this for any parents whose kids might be struggling with piano lessons elsewhere: My kid had a year of solo lessons with another teacher and it just wasn't a good fit. We all felt a little discouraged that our music loving kiddo wasn't feeling the music. But switching to Sweet Little Sounds flipped the script. She's learning to read music, and she talks about writing her own music on the staff so that she can share it and play with others. It's wonderful to see the glimmer of possibility on her face when she thinks about the music she will make. This is the direct result of the joy and encouragement she experiences in Katie's classroom each week, and I'm so grateful we found Sweet Little Sounds!

I asked my daughter what I should put in a review for Sweet Little Sounds and she said, "Teacher…read moreKatie taught my kids for many years and was a great and loving teacher, she is the best teacher of all time." It is hard to craft a better endorsement than that, but I will add the parent point of view. Katie is magic. My kids could not be more different and she nurtured each of their love of music, celebrated their differences, and helped them through the challenges of learning a new instrument. She taught them piano in such a joyful and empowering way. With Katie, students learn piano, music theory, musicality, rhythm, and to trust themselves during the learning process. She is fun, organized, and keeps the classes moving so that students don't get bored or discouraged. As the business owner of Sweet Little Sounds, Katie Keefe is an excellent communicator, reliable, and thoughtful about her schedules. She keeps parents informed about student progress and celebrates successes. The value of what Sweet Little Sounds offers is unmatched in our area. Bottom line, your child will be in excellent hands with Katie.

Then I saw when he made mistakes or struggled with new music, Mrs. Renny would sigh, scoff, or speak to him in a frustrated tone. On the day i decided to quit, when my son kept missing the tempo on the new piece he started, I saw her tap him on the forehead in frustration--completely unprofessional behavior. If you do choose her, I strongly recommend staying in the room during lessons to protect your child and observe how she treats your child.
