My first visit Dr Pilgrim assessed my situation, prescribed me some antibiotics, told me to take Tylenol for the pain and educated me on a few other things regarding why he suggested Tylenol and the staff was equally as welcoming as Dr. Pilgrim. I later went back for the extraction procedure and I must admit that I was quite timid, as a matter of fact, I was shaking in my boots but everyone made me feel really comfortable. The procedure was quick, painless, and went well. Listen I'm afraid of the dentist but dental care is very important for me so when seeking dental care, I'm looking for the most caring, knowledgeable, & experienced dentist that I can find and I found him at Christian Dental Care at 3611 Branch Ave in Temple Hills MD. Instead, I opted for something to just numb the pain. I didn't necessarily feel any pain but the pressure and pulling was something I hope to never feel again. I recommend getting something stronger if you are a little softy like me. All in all, it was a very quick process. Maybe 2-5 minutes per tooth. Dr. Russell is tough but she is a great doctor! She knows what she is doing. Healing has been great. No issues at all. Slight swelling in the beginning, but that quickly went away. And the office was very nice! I have been going to Dr. P as my general dentist for years…read more I had always asked about having my wisdom teeth pulled and he noted that it wasn't necessary given the space I had in my mouth. Unless they were causing pain. During one of my appointments I asked if I could elect to have them taken out as it was becoming harder to brush and keep them flossed and clean. He took X-rays, showed me how they were growing (one was growing sideways but remarkably wasn't causing me any discomfort!) We scheduled the 4 extractions and I was preparing for the worst. Days off from work, incredible pain--"dry socket" all of the horror stories you hear. When the day came, I was flabbergasted that I literally had NO pain. I went back to work that afternoon. It was the easiest procedure I have ever had. When I explained this to Dr. P he noted that he does/did this extraction completely differently than most dentist or oral surgeons in that he gently lifts the tooth from the bottom vs. the usual cutting and pulling out in pieces (if it can be avoided) After that experience I no longer fear the dentist. Dr. P is gentle, provides in depth guidance and instruction to make me feel comfortable at ever step.

I will be forced to take this man to court to get him to do at least that one part of his job. My first visit was ok, the office staff is very nice but Dr Smith never looked at my mouth at all, He looked at the screen that his tech had uploaded pictures he had taken. He joked and laughed with 3 other people on his staff about the "bio-load" in my mouth. I am a registered nurse and knew exactly what he was saying. I should have walked out of the office at that point and I am sorry I did not. I was told my bill will either be $200 or $400 for the initial visit, depending on how they chose to bill. (???) I had to pay out of pocket on that day and then they billed me THAT same day for a biopsy that was done over a month later! They billed for a future service. Who does that? The biopsy was finally done and I was scheduled for a follow up the month after that. I called for the report a week prior to the appointment (3 weeks after the biopsy), they didn't have it. I called the day before my follow up, still didn't have it. I asked how we would have a follow up with no results? His dental assistant looked for the results and called me in the evening after the office had closed sounding like he was perturbed at my asking for the results of MY BIOPSY, he gave me the results and cancelled my follow up saying we didn't need to do any more. But I am still having an issue. The results were "precancerous" and I now have a wound were he biopsied that is not healing well. As of today, none of the bill has been covered by insurance. I have a new wound in my gum and my initial issue I went in for was never addressed. My mouth is sore and so far I am personally out over $800 dollars, which I paid up front, for nothing to have been resolved. I actually suspect fraud possibly taking place with their odd billing practice, and as for the doctor, very unprofessional and he likely caused more issues and he helped in no way. I spoke with someone in the office about my bill which CareFirst has denied, I asked why I was told they are in-network. I was told that sometimes the people at the desk will say they are in network (???). That is kind of a big mistake to make. I went in with high hopes that Dr. Smith would help with my issue, he did not, but I did get a big bill and a "free" tooth brush! Unless he decides to change and behave like a real doctor, don't waste your time or money.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. unfortunately they have already removed my wisdom teeth and they've screwed me over so my back is against the wall. they deserve negative stars. Dr. Z isn't the issue but his office is poorly managed. There are 2 office managers and one of them (Devahna) is completely unprofessional, condescending, and just talks to talk without any actual merit or useful information coming out of her mouth.
