My 82-year-old mother was charged significantly above what is Usual, Customary, and Reasonable (UCR) for two simple fillings, coded D2330 and D2332. She was charged $263 for a 1-surface filling of one tooth (D2330) and $385 for a 3-surface filling of another tooth (D2332), totaling $648 for about 30 minutes of work. When I spoke to the front desk clerk regarding these excessive charges, she tried to tell me they charge less than UCR. Not true! They purposefully do not contract with ANY dental insurance plans, so a patient is left to pay whatever absurd excess they want to charge above the UCR set by dental insurance plans. While the clinical work was fine, the price gouging is undeniable. I have had a few dental fillings myself, and fees paid by insurance plus my copay was never remotely close to what this office charges! When I mentioned that my initial search for reasonable market costs for D2330 and D2332 in zip code 60031 was using AI, the clerk literally laughed into the phone, despite that AI provided legit references for its data. She pointed me instead to fairconsumerhealth dot org for pricing. For zip code 60031, "average allowed amount" at the 80th %ile even for D2330 is $176 and for D2332 is $253, a fraction of what this office charges! For an even more stark comparison, consider that as of 2025, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services allowed $52.18 and $92.19, respectively, for these same services. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a practice that values fair pricing. Neumann and Mackey focus on running a profit-driven business, not a patient-centered dental practice. Good chairside manner does not justify price gouging, especially little old ladies on fixed incomes.

The operation was fast,and I only had very mild pain and bleeding on the first day. I didn't have to take any of the painkillers that I had prepared before the surgery. I did using the frozen pea to cold patch the surgical area constantly for the first 24 hours and warm patch after. After 24 hours, I only had a little bit of discomfort and no swelling. By third day I was basically feeling fine. It's been three weeks since the surgery. The only thing I need to do is avoid crushing and hard food, and wait for another two months for it to heal. Dr. Tatch is out of dental Network, and he was on vacation anyway, so I decided to check out a different (rather new) in-Network surgeon 3 miles from my home, and that guy gave me a page of "smoke and mirrors" with "big discounts" and a bunch of "IF"s and contingencies and additions, and that's before new implants, so I went to NorthShore Center for consultation anyway, and... OMG,.. I met Dr. Yost Smith, a very kind, patient, competent, intelligent, and detailed doctor, and I was so impressed that I scheduled my implants removal and bone graft right away for the next day, and - Attention! - their plan/estimate was lower than the other so-called "in-Network" guy. Next night something in my mouth woke me up - it was my 2 fused implants that fell out on their own. Dr. Smith was very skillful and patient again answering my new questions, and he never charged me for implants removal, no games or questions asked. The staff has been always amazing for the last 20-25 years, but this time I met a dozen new associates who were very caring, friendly, and skillful. Wow, what a great experience! The extraction couldn't have gone better. Dr. Figueroa talked his was through the procedure, which was helpful. They have a cozy little recovery room for post-op and then you're on your way. I was told they couldn't bill my insurance because they were out of network and that the visit wouldn't be covered. Based on what happened afterward, that information appears to have been incorrect. They did bill my insurance, and when I later received my Explanation of Benefits (EOB), my actual patient responsibility was significantly lower than what I had been charged on the day of the appointment. I found this experience extremely frustrating and concerning. Being given inaccurate information about insurance coverage and being charged more upfront than what I ultimately owed left me feeling misled. I plan to pursue this matter further with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office because I believe these billing practices should be reviewed. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage others to do their research and proceed with caution before seeking care here. I expected much better communication, transparency, and professionalism.

We've been frustrated recently that there doesn't seem to be any clear direction in his treatment and decided to look into other orthos that focused on airway and speech. Our myofunctional therapist recommended we have a consultation with Dr Jacobson. We booked a consultation with him and a few others orthodontists that came highly recommended. It's a bit of a drive for us from glencoe to Vernon hills, although after our trek to the city for orthodontist appointments the past 4 years this was doable. It's also conveniently located in the same center a starbucks (for those who need a constant caffeine fix like me) and coldstone creamery (soft treat bribery after ortho treatments). We were seen right away and they took some pictures of my son's mouth with the help of my husband. My son wasn't really a fan of the pictures, but powered thru. Then Dr. Jacobson came in and took a look in my son's mouth and at the pictures. We asked for an opinion of what he would do for our son's ortho treatment. I liked that, unlike some of the other orthodontists we met with, he mentioned how the expander and other devices would help with speech. He also seemed to strike a good balance between getting him the treatment he needs, but not going overboard. He's had one device after another over the last 4 years, which IMO has been too much. We left with lots of info and impressed. We met with a few other orthodontists and ultimately decided to give Dr. Jacobson a try. Every ortho seems to tell us something different, but we felt good with him plan after our consultation and our myofunctional speech therapist (who we trust a lot) has been impressed with his work for her other patients. We head back later this summer to start treatment with an expander so will update with future experiences, but based on the consultation feel good about our decision.

We completed the mri on 07/27/26. I called back to make an appointment on 08/12/28 they said I can't schedule an appointment without a medical clearance from neurology. I take my son to see the neurologist on 08/17/26 he clears my son for the dental procedure. Today 08/18/26 I get a phone called from the oral surgeon office and they stated that I no longer need medical clearance from neurology because the Dr. I saw on 06/30/26 no longer works there but Dr Frank is available, but he won't be the one to do the anesthesia part it will be done by an anesthesiologist, and his charges start at 2,500 because Dr Frank does not do the anesthesia part. As I was talking to the Doctor I worked with asking for recommendations, he tells me his wife have had a terrible job done by an oral surgeon, we came to find out that she went to this same oral surgeon.
