Buyer BEWARE! Be careful, there are probably better choices in Tucson. My fervent hope is to help keep somebody else from having to deal with similar situations. It is not really the money it's the principle! Recently found out that a friend who I had referred to the office has had a similar issue. I have always had great and fun interactions with all of his other clinical and administrative staff. Their "office girl", Rosi is unprofessional, rude, dismissive, condescending and apparently incompetent. She appears to be trying to hide things. If you refuse to answer or respond to questions about basic billing charges, it makes you look a little suspicious! Nobody likes being ripped off AND blown off. Read the many other reviews confirming other peoples experiences with her bad behavior. Dr. Weaver, the founder, was a good guy, but he is retired now. It's sad and disappointing that the seemingly all too common scenario of a business founder, leaving and having things significantly deteriorate is at play here. Once the founder leaves things rapidly go downhill. On my last very brief visit, I told the doctor that my final set of retainers was giving me, for the first time, some pain in my jaw (TMJ) which I have never experienced with any of the other aligners. He looked in my mouth for literally five seconds, and said, oh there's a problem. Clearly, somewhere between measurement and manufacture, (out of my hands) the retainers were incorrectly produced. They were ill fitting enough to where the doctor ordered 50% of the lowers to be cut off to temporarily alleviate the TMJ issue. Nobody said a word about my status going forward. After several years and thousands of dollars out of pocket, on top of what my insurance company paid, I was presented with a $450 bill at checkout. I have tried for months, verbally and in writing, to find out what the charges were for, and to just try and simply get a billing receipt for my records. All requests have been completely ignored by Rosi. I always hate to assume, but I guess it was for re-ordering final retainers to replace the clearly incorrect and substandard ones that I had already previously paid for. I guess I was being charged a second time for a product that was substandard through no fault of my own. I was also disappointed that there was absolutely no attempt to even try to bill my top-tier dental insurance for any of this visit, and I clearly couldn't do anything on my own without a proper bill. Judging by other similar experiences and reviews, I'm sure the response will be "contact Rosie, so that we can clear this manner up." I have made a total of six attempts! Too late, I've wasted too much time! read more

Long story short, my daughter started her treatment at Dr. Jaw Orthodontics nearly two years ago. Before today, our experience with the staff had been generally okay. However, over the past year, there have been continuous issues with my ex's insurance, which were not brought up until fairly recently. Each time the office called us about this, we had to make calls to resolve the matter with the insurance, who, by the way, was on a three-way call with the finance manager when it was said the issue was resolved. Despite reassurances from the insurance, the finance manager at Dr. Jaw's office expressed frustration in the past, even saying she was "tired of this" and placing the blame on us, basically making us do all the phone calls because she was tired of the situation. I have never had to contact an insurance company to handle such matters before; typically, the office staff responsible for account management would handle these calls. The most concerning incident happened this morning. I was brought into the lobby, where the staff discussed our account loudly in front of other patients instead of taking me to a private room. I have seen them take people to the back to discuss finances in the past, but I was not given this consideration. Perhaps it is because of my ethnicity, but regardless, this public confrontation was unprofessional and embarrassing. I believe clear and respectful communication is crucial, especially in a healthcare setting. Unfortunately, this experience has been disappointing and stressful. read more

I made the mistake of coming in on the wrong day I was scheduled to finish my Invisalign and even though they were booked for the day the front desk worked me in so I did not have to come back the following week. I'm an adult patient and was hesitant about going to an orthodontist, especially since my insurance doesn't cover orthodontia. Dr. Robison-Rabe consulted with me, explained options for treatment and payment, and gave me time to decide how to proceed. I used my HSA to go with Invisalign and have been thrilled with the results! I had to have an impacted tooth extracted, but my treatment still will be complete in under a year. Overall, I am very pleased with my results and I had good experience at their Oro Valley location. The team of doctors (and the entire dental team) listened to what I wanted, were always very polite and professional, and the appointments were always efficient (quick in and out). The 4 stars instead 5 stars is for two reasons. The first being that they didn't correctly bill my insurance which I ended up coordinating to fix. The second is that there were times I felt like just another patient, which should not be the case considering how expensive their orthodontia care is. Even with insurance it cost a small fortunate. That being said, you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend them for their quality of work. read more

I started going to Dr. Jaw about ten years ago when I had my braces in during high school. They were pleasant and great. It was their different location. I have a permanent retainer and have since moved to this side of town. The other day my permanent retainer needed some fixing I called and got a same day appointment even after not seeing them for almost 10 years! I was impressed. From our first meeting with Dr. Robison-Rabe, to every visit, I was happy and so were my kids! My husband and I decided to put them both in braces at the same time... YES... it was a BIG financial decision, so we wanted to make sure we found a good orthodontist who was reasonable and GOOD! I was very impressed with the front desk person, Pam... all the techs and each of the orthodontists. If you can't come in on a day when your primary orthodontist is working, they welcome you to visit anytime with any of the three orthodontists! Dr. Rabe and Dr. Weaver are very good as well! Truly personable people! You can tell that each person the office employs is happy to be there and they are each very good at their job! I contacted two people about this office before I made an appointment. I was so pleased with everyone's attitude in the office, the cleaniness and professionalism and the price, that I decided right after our initial free consultation that this would be the office for us! (I called around and got price estimates, and Dr. Jaw was the lowest cost!) I run a service business as well and completely understand the power of recommendations... so with the knowledge that the Dr. Jaw office in Oro Valley did a fantastic job throughout the ENTIRE time we were with them... Twice I have needed to come in for a quick adjustment that would take about one minute. The staff refuses to stay past their last appointment. I volunteer at a shelter, and - if we have an urgency past our shift, we stay. This place will not accommodate. In fact, the receptionist couldn't even justify why... I can understand if they had to get to another location. In this case, a wire is digging into both sides of my cheeks. I will try to bend them myself. How frustrating when you are in pain and say you cannot chew, and they end the call with "Have a nice day." read more
