horrible customer care. they blow you off repeadily after you purchase and ignore you. they dont fix anything on their warranty repair list. they install sod and set up hoses, sprinklers and timers. they turn the water on and say leave it as is for two weeks. then you get a bill for $1,100.00 for two weeks of water and 64,000 gallons of water. corporate ignores you and every one ignores you. i would give zero stars if you could. how could a company this large get away with such service and qualirty? beware!!! read more

If I could give no stars I would. I would never buy a DR Horton home again. The quality is garbage. All they care about is getting the house build fast, not built right. We have been in our home approx. 18 months and are still undergoing warranty repairs. Starting with the building process, the communication was horrible. We were never even allowed to speak with the contractor or foramen, we worked with the sales guy who never knew what was actually happening with our home. We were given the wrong dates for walk throughs (which then we missed our opportunity altogether), and there were changes made to the floor plan that were never communicated to us. -The week we closed, we pulled out 40lbs of drywall scrapes from the first floor ceiling. The drywall crew was too lazy to dispose of it in the dumpster, so they threw it in the ceiling. A year later, the rest of the first floor was opened up, and again removed drywall scrapes and other garbage from their ceiling. -We were told the whole house had been primed and painted. It is the low grade builder paint, which we knew and we weren't considered because we were planning to have the whole house painted the week we closed. However, we later were told they what they consider "primed" is simply two coats of paint. Primer is primer, not paint. We did not learn this until after the whole house was professional painted, and now there are lines everywhere because the house was never actually primed with real primer. -We lost several shingles from the roof within the first couple month of living here. -Flooring on the first floor is bubbling and even cracked in spots. They only acknowledge/fixed one section, saying that the unlevel areas still meets "builder standards". -The first floor powder room wall was so bowed, they had to come and build it out with mud. It was a huge mess and took several days to complete. -The HVAC system is a disaster, the second floor is freezing in the winter and so hot in the summer. Multiple people have been out to assess it yet nothing is ever resolved. -This is only listing the bigger issues - there have been lists and lists of touchups. If I could go back, I would have never bought this home. It is so disappointing. We thought buying new construction was the safe route, keeping us free from issues/repairs at least for the first few years. That has not been the case. read more

Do yourself a favor and investigate this company thoroughly. They use subpar contractors and subpar specs to build their homes. If you can find a quality builder in your area buy a lot and build your own home you will not find a quality home with the DR Horton name on it read more

The worst experience ever when it comes to new home builders. Back In June me and my wife decided to buy a new home to enjoy our home and not live under construction. A week before closing we had to meet a so call construction manager named Zach to go over the house and what we thought needed to get repaired before we move in. The day of closing we had to meet him again at the property to go over the repairs and see if there is anything we were not satisfied with at this point we are at our second request list of things that needed there attention. After we moved in we noticed things that were on the two list that we made with him that were not repaired. We said no problem we can talk to Zach when comes back in a week and see when this is getting repaired. Mind you this whole process starter May 31, 2019 we are now meeting with him on June 14, 2019. To go over all the repairs that were not done as well as new repairs that we felt were needed at this point we set a repair date of July 8th 2019 . When all the trades arrived not one knows what they are fixing we had to explain to each one of them what they were doing. Needless to say we had to be home for them to come back again because they did not know the project was going to take them this long. At that point we called Zach because no one showed up to fixed the siding issue. He said they forgot. We said ok no problem reschedule that portion of it. Mean while I was called by Zach to tell me can I be home on Friday for the carpenter to hang the closet door I said in the afternoon I can be there this is July 12th I come home from work and no one showed up. Called Zach and he did not call me back for 5 days to let me know when they will be out at that point I said please bring your boss with because this is just getting out of control. He tells me his boss is out of town and can't meet with me until July 23rd I said fine. We meet with Alex who is Zach boss . First thing I asked him do you know what's going on here or were you not made aware of what's going on here . He reply's better yet why don't you tell me what's the problem so we can address it . I said your company does not value customers time and does not have a clue of the meaning of customer service. He says why I said I been in the customer service industry for 23 years and if I treat one of my customers this way I would be out of business. He replies I just here to make things right I said well let's move forward and get it done because I bought a new house not a renovation. After going back a forward we are still waiting to get a door fixed they have shown up with four damage doors and they see no problem with this wasted my time and the carpenters time four time. I now have moved on to Alex boss Mike Bergman he came a meet with me Friday September 13 and I gave him the whole run down how we have created four list with DR - Horton Construction Managers none of the list ever get finished and now we keep finding more problems. He took pictures of things I point it out to him and he said we will take care of them. At this point I am very frustrated with the whole process and chasing down. Mike called me on Monday September 30th can I come over with the door to make sure it meets your expectations I said I'm not home but my wife is. He brings the door everything is fine and tells my wife I will have someone here on Wednesday the October 2nd no one shows up I called Mike to see what happened and did not get a phone call until October 7th great communication. He tells me that he will be here with the door and the carpenter at 8 am when he showed up the door is damaged again and missing paint I then said to him did you not see this before arriving to my house this is just unproductive that you keep showing up with damage doors every time. It's almost like they do it to see if you go away because you are so frustrated with it. read more

After living in our home for 12 years that was built by this company, I would NEVER buy another home from them. I really love our house (or we wouldn't have bought it) but we know that we way overpaid for the lame "upgrades" and the quality which can never be seen upon a 30 minute walk through. Even with the initial 1 year they allow for adjustments, it sometimes takes longer for the shoddy workmanship to really show through. I wish I had kept a log over the past 12 years, but I didn't. I'd probably run out of computer memory if I had!..The most recent thing that just sent me to write this truthful review happened today. We ordered new appliances and couldn't have them installed today due to original installation problems from this builder. Our dishwasher and refrigerator went back to the store on the truck until we can get a plumber here to fix the frozen valves. Even I, a domestic diva and not a plumber know that a valve has to be turned back slightly to prevent the valve from freezing. Apparently the Cambridge builders skipped this plumbing 101 lesson...idiots. There have been so many things that I've complained about over the years, but today it's like the straw that broke the camels back. The salesperson at the design center really screwed us big time on things that looking back on I now I know were certainly only in their/her best interest. They don't even remember they sold us our house, but I have to live with their incompetence's daily. I know I'm not giving specifics here, only complaints and hopefully enough negativity to get your attention. Please if you're reading this because you're trying to decide on contracting with this builder, please do ourself a favor and run, don't walk, to someone else that really wants you to be happy for years to come because they understand their reputation lives on beyond just the day of collecting your money. There are many other builders out there very reputable. I only wish I had done more research before we purchased one of their homes. But then the Internet was not what it is today. So use it wisely before signing a contract with this builder. read more

questioning my purchase and Im less than 30 days in. Its -20 outside and Ive got a draft in my kitchen, and my front door does not lock. Ive called the warranty number twice, left message both times and filed a claim online. Weeks later, after hearing nothing, I contacted my sales person about my issue. The warranty guy comes out tomorrow to take a look at the issues and Ill let you know. So far my experience has not been positive and Im already thinking about selling. I talked to a rep in texas for DR and was treated like I didnt matter, I was even hung up on twice by them. Theyre customer service is crap. Keep LOOKING!! Update: still waiting for the builder to get someone out, but they will not even consider compensating me for my heating bill due to them cutting corners. The quality of these homes is horrible. I am here only 3 days in the actual house. During the walkthrough, I noticed dirt on the walls in the garage and on the floor. I asked him to have that cleaned. He looked at me and said you can be easily wiped off. I looked at him and said you guys can clean it up. So you buy a new house, that is supposed to be clean and in it's best condition, and you are told to clean up after their workers. That is insane. When I completed the walk through before the purchase, we noticed mold in the dishwasher. We were told that is because they ran it and left it closed. He said they would take care of it and the mold should go away after a wash. Well, while unpacking my kitchen, I opened the dishwasher to find mold in there. Light switches are not straight. The majority are on an angle. The laminate, yes laminate, flooring is coming up in certain areas. The "genius" architects that designed the Lincoln model, put the furnace on the floor where the kitchen, eating area, and family room are. When the air conditioner turns on, there is a loud noise due to the air intake going through the metal path. It is really loud if you plan on eating dinner next to it (since that is where the table would be where you eat) or if you plan on sitting in the family room and watching TV or whatever. Prepare to turn up the volume or talk louder because it's horribly loud. I didn't notice this before buying the house because the air conditioning unit never turned on while I was there multiple times, looking at the models or doing walkthroughs. I plan on moving within the year, due to what I have seen and experienced in a few days here. I regret buying this townhouse. In the long run, you will be putting in more money due to all the cheap items they used to build it. The only reason I bought this place was due to my circumstances that I had to move, and that it was a brand new place where I thought it would be in great condition- well, I was wrong. read more

BUYERS BEWARE! Their contract shows if you are declined a mortgage, you will receive your deposit back. There are no requirements to use their mortgage company, although they strongly pressure you to do so. We have used our loan specialist for many years and several transactions. Unfortunatley due to a short sale situation, we were denied credit for a mortgage. The formal denial letters from the mortgage company were sent to DR Horton and they are now telling us we are being requested to use their mortgage company. Based on the reviews listed, you know why they are requesting us to use their mortgage company, because they are desperate! They will approve a deceased person and then they sell the mortgage to someone else and thier happy because they sold their poorly built home. Go to Pulte or anyone else! read more

We purchased a home from them and are currently living there now. Between the poor craftsmanship and the poor warranty resolution practices, I would recommend others to keep driving. It's too bad because they have good sales people and a good area but they can't back any of that up with quality. read more

This was my first new home purchase and it will be the last time i buy a DR Horton home. I've been here just over a year and have encountered several structural issues already. Also, Pingree Grove property taxes will bleed you dry. read more
