Dr. Electric is an outstanding electrician who takes genuine pride in his craft. We own a post-World War II home in Louisville with electrical work patched and upgraded over the decades. When we detected the smell of burnt wiring, we feared the worst. Dr. Electric answered our emergency call in the middle of the night and spent three hours ensuring our home was safe -- which alone would have earned our trust. What impressed us even more was everything that followed. The burnt smell raised the possibility of an HVAC issue, so Dr. Electric coordinated directly with a technician from a separate company to systematically rule it out. Once the furnace and AC were eliminated as causes, he conducted a thorough inspection of the circuit breaker and all electrical wiring throughout the house -- methodical, careful, and quietly correcting problems left behind by previous electricians. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Electric was patient, communicative, and genuinely invested. He explained what he was doing at every step and took time to answer our questions without making us feel rushed. If you want an experienced electrician who cares about doing the job right -- not just getting it done -- we recommend Dr. Electric without reservation. read more

This guy was fantastic. I had part of a tree fall into the back of my residence and did some damage to my electrical. When Steve heard my situation he actually came over on his way home from another job and fixed about half of it that night. Real nice guy too. He buddied up with my dog right away no problem. A lot of work for a fair price. read more

Installing a ceiling fan- Steve did a great job all around and very affordable and fast. Will definitely use him again. Highly recommend! read more

I'm a first time homebuyer in my twenties, I know nothing about electrical issues (or any other trade for that matter), and we purchased our home in 2020. It was still connected to its original 1957 fuse box. We (my husband and I) weren't even sure if it was grounded. Needless to say, I was nervous about getting someone to come take a look at things. Fast forward to almost a year later, I reached out to Dr. Electric and left a voicemail saying I would like to be updated to a modern breaker panel. My number resembled a spam number at first glance so he didn't immediately answer, but when he called me back, he apologized and after I gave the green light, immediately started getting the supplies together he needed. He asked for a couple pictures of our fuse box and outside set up. He gave a quote then and there that even included the cost of the permit. Everything was very reasonable and fair. He was at my home within two days getting our home sorted. He was clear, friendly, knowledgeable, honest, and really seemed to take pride in his work. And he even gave my dog some treats (after asking permission). My house was stubborn. It was "one of those days", you know? A job that should have taken him 6 hours on an average day, took almost 12. There was paint so thick on the side of the house from the last owner, that he had to spend hours in hot, summer, after-rain humidity banging away just to get a piece on the outside of our house loose so he could get working. He was really put through the wringer. His favorite drill broke, he had to run to the hardware store; he ran out of daylight, he couldn't even bring his dog, Rosie, who has been his work buddy for the past 11-14 years. I was concerned he wouldn't be able to get it done before it simply got too late but he saw it through from beginning to end. Everything was taken apart, installed, put back together, tested, labeled, and cleaned up. He threw in a 5yr warranty and kept true to his original quote, despite all the extra hours. Not once did I hear Steve complain. I am very, very pleased with this service and will be calling him first before anyone else. read more

Steve provided expert service, he broke things down in layman's terms which was so helpful being I'm clueless when it comes to electrical work. I truly appreciated him educating me on the process. He's very prompt and easy to work with. He finished the job in a timely manner. I'm very pleased with the results. I'll be utilizing his services in the near future. read more

Called on a rainy afternoon with a light switch that was starting to crackle and pop, and he was able to swing by just an hour or so later, because he'd had a cancellation that day! Was super nice, gave us helpful tips for lights/wiring in older homes, and even took time to check out our breaker to ensure it was still up to snuff. Not to mention, literally half the cost of what Allen Electric quoted for a basic service fee! Absolutely recommend and will be calling again if we have electrical issues in the future! read more

He started out energetic on a large project but quickly started billing for things he hadn't disclosed. In addition, refused to estimate his scope of work. Hired him on his reviews but then noticed those were padded. read more

After another electrician bailed on us a few times this week, we called Steve at 11am this morning (Saturday) to fix a circuit breaker. We recently bought the house that we had been renting, and needed to do a lot of fixing up to it. Decided to start with the electric. Called them up, and spoke with the main man, Steve. Told him what we needed, (an entire new breaker/panel box) Scheduled him to come over and check it out. He was there in a day or two as I asked for and got the job done within a few hours, and at a cost that was less than other companies I had checked with. All my future electrical needs will definitely go to Dr. Electric. I highly recommend this company. read more

I am giving a 5 star review for Dr. Electric for several reasons. I had called after hours over a weekend and left a message and he returned my call promptly and offered up-front pricing. Even on a weekend he listened and asked me to send pics of the issue so he could assess the problem immediately. I knew what to expect financially, even before he arrived, which was very affordable. He was able to schedule within just a couple days to fix the issue and was prepared with all supplies and was finished in a short period of time. He was very open regarding the process and answered all my questions. He made the process quick and stress-free, for both my time and wallet! read more

Steve and his lovely assistant Rosie were so wonderful to work with! After a failed electrical inspection from the city on a newly purchased home, I called various electricians to only be placed on the supervisors desk until someone could get back to me with a phone call. I called Dr. Electric, and Steve was there the same day to get started!!! He was extremely knowledgeable, and made things easy to understand for me (a non-technical person). Steve was also just in general amazing to talk to. I will for sure turn to Dr. Electric and recommend him to everyone in need of service! When you spend your money, you want to be sure it's going to quality work, and Steve provides nothing but the best! I'm so happy to have met Steve and Rosie, they've earned more lifetime customers from my family and I from this very first experience! read more

Steve with Dr. Electric was great. Our building needed an outside security light replaced ASAP and he was out there the next day. Prior to arrival, he provided upfront pricing with no surprises unlike other big names like Allen Electric who wouldn't even talk any pricing until you pay them a dispatch fee to come look at the job site despite offering to show photos. During the installation, we found out the light picked up from Home Depot was bad from the factory, so we had to go purchase another one and Steve ended up coming back same day after dark to complete the job. I highly recommend going with him over any other big names in Louisville to save money and have the job done right. read more

We called Steve on a Sunday afternoon because we ran into some problems installing a ceiling fan in our old house. I expected to leave a message but Steve answered and was able to come to my home to finish the job that same night! He showed up wearing a mask and professionally finished the job without any problems for a fair price. I recommend Dr. Electric 100%! read more

During our renovation of a rental home so we could sell, there were a number of electrical updates needed. Dr. Electric (Steve) was the third electrician we called to find a short in our wiring. He was the only one who found it and corrected it. Other two charged for a service call and threw up there hands and said they could not find it. Now after inspections several issues were discovered. Called Dr. Electric and Steve came asap. The punch list was corrected to complete satisfaction professionally and rapidly. Extremely satisfied with the workmanship, promptness and especially his charges. Dr. Electric (Steve) is our go to company. Bob Brown read more

I got Dr. Electric's number from a friend of mine at work and gave him a call. I told him what I needed done and we set up my appointment. On The day of my appointment, he showed up on time and took a look and what I needed done and started working immediately. He quickly got my problem fixed and asked me if there was anything else he could do for me. After approximately 3 hours of fixing other problems that weren't even scheduled to do; I was getting worried about the cost. After dealing with big name companies and their high prices, I was afraid I would be looking at $500.00 or more for his work. After he wrote out the bill, I was amazed at his charge of less than $300.00. He convinced me that I want him to do all my electrical work because he take pride in his work, cares about the needs of the costumer and is super reasonable with his cost. I'd rather support him any day than shell out a bunch of money to these big companies. Thank you Dr. Electric!!! read more

Needed prompt help, and Steve provided it. Responded quickly, came the same day, worked until completed. He fixed our initial problem and installed a new breaker box. Finished work looked much more professional than wiring he replaced. Professional, helpful, friendly. I'd call him again. read more
