Yesterday, I had an appointment with Dr. Van Beek, for a consultation, xrays, and an exam. I made…read morethis appointment because I need all my upper teeth pulled, and a nice set of dentures made. I have underlying health conditions that are causing my teeth to decay rapidly, and I continue to get infections, resulting in pain. Before we ever started, I told the hygienist what my plan was....she said she didn't think the doctor would be agreeable, and that he would want to try and save my natural teeth. She went and got the doctor, he didn't even say, hello, or how are you. He listened to the hygienist explain what I was asking for, and then grabbed a tool tilted me back and began poking around in my mouth. Then he all but said that he wouldn't do what I was asking, but wanted me to get full mouth x-rays to be certain as to what was going on. In other words, he wanted to be able to bill my insurance for x-rays, exam, and weeks of expensive and painful dental work.....which would only be putting a temporary bandaid on a chronic problem. I just took the bib off handed it to the hygienist, and thanked everyone for their time, and walked out. My appointment was at 3 pm yesterday, and it is now 1:57 am Tuesday morning. It has honestly taken me that long to calm down enough to write this review. In summary, the girls that work in there are very nice, but Dr. Van Beek is rude, and left me very unimpressed. I have lived in South Dakota for a year, after moving from Indiana, and I have met more people like this man, than nice compassionate people. We have good insurance. So his loss. My suggestion is to highly recommend that you do not choose this dentist, and make sure you have a sit down consultation with your doctor before you do anything. That way you can get a feel for them as a person, and also not waste their time or yours and your not having to pay multiple doctors for the same services.

I first had a cleaning, followed by the filling, and I was in and out in 1.25 hours for EVERYTHING. Second, the novocain target was perfect; I felt NO pain, but my lips aren't numb. Third, they have a jaw rest to keep your mouth open and your tounge protected, so there is no work you have to do as a patient. It was so easy. I am super impressed... I HATE dental work (who doesn't?), but Dr. Ky and her team made it as easy and comfortable as possible. And they are SO fast!!

They had me schedule an appt to get half taken out and then I would go back for the other half. I ended up cancelling so I could get a second opinion since 11 seemed so extreme. At my second dentist they told me they found ZERO cavities. I don't know what they would have done if I went in for my fillings, but there is no need for them to tell me I had eleven cavities when I didn't even have one.

I finally put on my big girl pants and decided it was time to take care of my bad tooth. I asked everyone I knew who was the best dentist in town. I called multiple offices to discuss what was going on with my tooth. I ended up booking an appointment with Dr. Rigg. I couldn't be happier with that decision!! He and his staff took such good care of me and made me feel more comfortable than I have ever felt in a dentist's chair. They are all so nice! They were 100% open and honest, told me exactly what to expect and talked me through the process during my entire tooth extraction. I was extremely nervous that I would feel the tools digging around in my already so painfully sensitive bad tooth. It went SO much better than I expected it to. I can't express enough how relieved I am that I found a dentist I trust. He was even very kind about the payment process, too. Other dentists I spoke to wanted the service paid for in whole prior to the appointment since I do not have dental insurance. Dr. Rigg allowed me to pay for his service in a couple payments. I appreciated that very much! I will 100% ABSOLUTELY go back to Dr. Rigg if I ever need dental work again.
