Who's afraid of going to the dentist? Not ME because I trust my dental care to Berton Wong, D.D.S. at Wong Family Dentistry.
Gulp, I can't stop aging, but I'm glad that my family and I have been patients of Wong Family Dentistry since the '60s. As a child, I was always happy to have dental visits with Albert S. L. Wong, DDS, at the former office space in the York Building (yeah, it's that modernist pimple-faced building on Alakea and South King Streets) that has since been renamed to Queen Emma Building. Dr. Wong's professionalism, cheer, and musicality even made me not fear the high-pitched sound of the dental drill when he worked on my cavities or the syringe and needle used for local anesthesia during tooth extraction. My family and I have continued our dental care with Albert through his office move to the See Dai Doo Building.
Several years passed as Albert slowly phased into retirement, and his same professionalism, friendliness, and painless dental work were first passed onto one of his sons, Allen. I've been a patient of Allen for most of my adult life. Meanwhile, The Wong Family dentistry practice expanded to include another of Albert's sons, Bryan. During our marriage, my husband became a patient of Allen's brother, Bryan. You'll probably meet another Wong brother, Gary, the office manager and accountant, when you enter the dental office. However, since graduating from Dental School in 2016, Allen's son, Berton, has joined the Wong Family Dentistry. Berton is a third-generation dentist in the Wong Family. It's excellent that excellent dentistry and great rapport runs in the Wong Family! Sorry, I digressed.
I have had two visits with Berton, and both times I've been impressed with his thoroughness and communication. He brings an additional fresh and younger professional approach to dentistry. He takes his time to thoroughly perform the preventative dental check-up, which includes cleaning my teeth and examining my gums, tongue, and jaw. These preventive examinations are oral cancer screenings and can detect possible TMJ, teeth grinding issues, and sleep apnea. Hey, I'm all for early detection of health or dental problems, which in turn could extend the quality of my life.
I'm flexible to say that although Allen has been my dentist for years, I would feel comfortable transferring my dental care to Berton. read more
