I placed an order for six asada tacos, one asada burrito, one asada quesadilla, and an order of grilled jalapeños. I waited nearly 30 minutes for my food, and based on the lengthy wait, I assumed the order would be correct. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Upon arriving home, I discovered that my order was almost entirely incorrect. Instead of what I requested, I received: Two asada tacos Four asada burritos No quesadilla No grilled jalapeños No salsa, despite having requested it I called the restaurant to inform them of the mistake, expecting at least an apology or an attempt to resolve the issue, even if it meant addressing it the following day. Instead, the employee repeatedly responded with "omg this guy," offering neither an apology nor any form of customer service. Regarding the food itself, the two tacos I received were plain and dry, and the burrito I attempted to eat was excessively greasy. Great taqueria - busy on a Sunday night with locals and passers by. We ordered chicken enchiladas and they were really very good. The chicken was well seasoned bright and a little spicy. The tortillas were just the right amount of chewy. Beans and rice were good quality. I'd recommend stopping here over any fast food. (This was fast enough) read more

This place was perfect to get our Mexican food fix. Being from New Mexico we know Mexican cuisine. While traveling we always look for a good place to eat, but this was great. Absolutely delicious!!! I have passed through this area ok no my way to Seattle and it breaks my heart I haven't been Ii n sooner. It is a must! You know you chose wisely when it's full and most the seats are full. It's not the fastest but worth the wait. The carne asada tacos were one of the best I have had in a while. So good! Street tacos on fresh tortillas; only comes with one per taco because they are that good, you only need one and hold up! The food was decent and the portion slightly larger than the norm. Given the dreary interior, the lack of any utensils, plastic hamburger basket and dirty tabletops, the price ($11 for a burrito) seemed a bit out of line. If you can't find someplace else to eat, be sure to make your order "for takeout". I made the mistake of following another review that said visitors would need to look past the exterior. Unfortunately the interior was equally rundown--the minimal fluorescent lighting and dirty bathroom made the wait for our food a less than ideal experience. I really wanted to like this place. Driving back to Portland this became my ULTIMATE favorite Mexican restaurant in Oregon. As a first generation Mexicana I admire a well handmade sope like the ones my father made. This gave me a taste of home back in South Florida and would highly recommend this to anyone in Umatilla. This is my chicken sope that I will say I finished the first but couldn't finish the second. Holy delicious tacos. We had carne asade and pork. Sooo flavorful and not greasy. It was pretty full with locals so that was the first good sign. The tortillas- YUM! Driving through on our way back down to San Diego and the family were craving Mexican... the breakdown: Agua frescas- horchata and piña y melon both freshly made, in particular we appreciated the chunks of pineapple and grated melon! Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! I was passing through and saw this restaurant had good reviews, so decided to stop and get dinner. I asked for the meal Donitas was known for. The waitress said that would be their specialty quesadilla. It was made with a huge corn tortilla. I don't really like corn tortillas but this was clearly homemade and delicious. This was no regular quesadilla. It was more like a seared cheesy burrito. I got it with carne asada and it was awesome. Slices of Avocado and cheese poking out, I knew it would be good. And it was. Went here based on other Yelp recommendations. The food was great traditional Mexican food. I got it to go and it was ready in a timely manner. When I got to the car I didn't have napkins and when i opened it, it had shifted around and was extremely messy. I am Hispanic and thought we would give this place a try on our way back from Northern Ca. First, the food was subpar. The corn taco shells were barley warmed at all ,stale and hard on the edges. The rice and beans were served with a deep spoon. Hard to eat. The price for two taco plates $30.25. It was not worth it at half the cost. Don't understand why people are rating it so high. Authentic Mexican food, just like Baja! Modest little restaurant that replaced the other Mexican restaurant, it's essentially a food truck gone stationary. Don't expect to much for decoration or seating (though they do have a few nice booths by the windows) and don't expect too much variety in the menu. They have all the delicious food stand basics from tacos (asada, adobada, pollo, lengue, cabeza, tripo) to huaraches to carnitas, birria and tortas. Your drink comes in the form of bottle or cans instead of a soda fountain. They have horchata and jamaica as well as Mexican Coke, Sangria, and a variety of Jarritos. While the atmosphere is a little blah, they spice it up with some music and the staff is very friendly. Of course it's not going to beat actually being in Mexico, it certainly brought my husband and I back. If they could only get some San Felipe shrimp! Highly recommend this place! Really good tacos but the 40 minute wait for the food with a lot of flies wasn't really a plus. They were out of Carne Asada and it wasn't exactly busy which left us wondering why it took 40 minutes. Excellent food with grilled onions and jalapenos, nice salsa bar with six different sauces of varying OK spice degrees and really tasty beans! However, the service was REALLY bad. Grumpy service person and dirty tables. Also, very, very slow. Kind of surprisingly so. You'd think they'd be happy for the customers since they weren't many there. My friend and I both had the taco combination plate and there was plenty of food. I would only go back here if I had LOTS of time to waste. I don't have anything more to say, but yelp will not except my review unless I make it longer so here I am making it longer. I hope my review is helpful to you. Umatilla is not a tourist destination, but at least there was some decent food, even if the service was horrible. Yelp is still wanting more of a review and now I'm mad because I've wasted all this time to try to help you to know where to eat in Umatilla but yelp wants me to write in epic tome so here I go. One thing to note is that both my friend and I had itchy and burning eyes while in the restaurant. Was working a couple miles away and was starving... I saw reviews for birria tacos and had never had the opportunity to try them. Magical! These tacos were so delicious (I got them to go) and they came with a little cup of broth to dip the tacos in. The broth was so good I drank it after eating my tacos sitting in a cornfield in the wind.
