Solid three with the potential for four. Food was good, but not great. They graciously made me the machaca breakfast tacos at dinner and my husband had pork avodava (not sure on that second word) which was new to us. Or maybe just a variation on adobada?
Restaurant is clean, chips were meh, salsa was a mild purée and kind of disappointing. The food was a bit slow, especially because they were far from full or busy. It also arrived at different times. The waitress was friendly and we didn't find anything lacking there.
The machaca tacos were not what I was expecting. The machaca I've come to love is shredded beef and this was chopped. The flavor was similar to what I was expecting, but as far as machaca goes, I was disappointed. Overall though, the tacos were really savory and the corn tortillas were excellent. They are good if you know what you're getting into ahead of time!
My husband had pork that was good, a little fatty, and kind of tough. The flavor was alright and it came with rice, beans, a split roasted jalapeño, and half of a grilled onion. The corn tortillas were excellent that he had. Like, eat plain out of the warm box excellent (which is what we did while waiting for his food after mine got to the table.)
We were not blown away by the food, but that may be because we tried some new items that were prepared differently. We will likely give this place another chance. They have a pretty extensive menu with some great sounding items. If you're interested in trying something newish go here (it used to be Shanon's Place). read more
