(Pt 2) felt like a scolded child being patched up by an annoyed mom. I kept telling her I know, that I was *trying* to stay still, that I was doing my best, and it felt like even that annoyed her. I was breathing pretty hard (initially I was trying to breathe deeply to calm myself to hopefully make the whole thing easier, but it backfired), and got lightheaded. I asked Dr Heise if I could just have a second, I was getting lightheaded. She said 'good thing you're laying down then' and continued. Something to note, at this point it is established that this is a big blood clot with an associated hematoma. Throughout the whole procedure, I begged Dr Heise through tears to just give me a moment because it hurt so bad and also so I could regain a stable breathing pattern. She ignored me and sounded irritated that I asked. At one point I was sobbing while begging. Then she gave me a 3 second break, then told me 'she can't just wait here waiting for me to be brave' and went back to it. Now I don't know if at any point I should've been allowed said break, or given more numbing or whatever else. But between these 3 exams and procedures where I was degraded, humiliated, and insulted for feeling pain has GOT to be unacceptable. After, I was, PREDICTABLY, light headed. Dr Heise sounded irritated that I was having a hard time answering her questions (most of my vision was white/spotty), and that I wasn't doing a backflip off the table to get myself redressed and skip out the door. A nurse came in and checked on me, and I had a hard time answering some of her questions too. She looked concerned, especially when she handed me some water. I think I ended up staring at it too long or something, I'm not sure. That and my hand was shaking a lot. Her and Dr Heise checked back in a few times. It took awhile to feel not lightheaded enough to get redressed. I was able to answer questions better, but I spilled a lot of water on myself cause my hand was shaking. When all is said and done, Dr Heise asks me if I had any injuries down there. I tell her no, and she seems surprised. She then informs me to 'stop poking and prodding it', and I had to inform her I didn't. As if I had done this to myself, somehow! It seemed like she was rushing through the aftercare portion despite there being no one else in the office and another hour to closing time. I had to ask her explicitly if I needed a peri bottle. She told me no. (Guess what I ended up needing in the middle of the night?) I just had a follow up today, and that irritated energy returned, especially after she informed me again, to 'stop poking and prodding it'. I had to remind her I didn't do anything like that! It really made me feel like a child. This whole experience left me feeling dehumanized and I will not be returning here. The receptionists, however, are fantastic. So I've added another star to reflect this. read more

Just saw Dr. Heise for the first and last time today. Incredibly rude and dismissive, absolutely zero patient compassion. She is, quite frankly, someone who should not be allowed to touch patients in any capacity with a 10 foot pole. I was squeezed in for a semi-urgent problem, and was (reasonably) crying over the phone when making the appointment. One of the first things she said to me upon entering the room was that "we fit you in because you were crying over the phone, you're not crying now so you don't seem to be in a lot of pain". I said that I was still in pain, it's just that this morning I was in more pain due to exacerbation of the issue. She did her exam and didn't have much to say, and diagnosed me with something that I had zero symptoms of, solely because she did not feel like doing the full work up. I started to get a little bit visibly upset and tear up and she said "here are some tissues, we'll be back in a few". She comes back in and looks irritated. She says "you were supposed to get dressed". (She never told me to do that) I said "Oh ok, I didn't know that". I then asked if they were doing a certain type of testing and she said "No, you didn't ask for that". I then asked if we could do it before I leave. (The testing in question quite literally takes 30 seconds to do). While rolling her eyes, she got out the testing swabs and says "it's always better to ask for stuff at the beginning than at the end" and "we're not mind readers". She also said "A lot of this miscommunication is just as much you". So, it's my fault I'm not sure what specific tests to ask for, when that's the entire reason i'm seeing YOU? Needless to say, I left and spoke with the practice manager, who said she would speak with Dr. Heise. (Considering the many other negative reviews about her and her poor treatment of her patients on here, I doubt that that will happen). I also have a recording of about half of this interaction that I'd be happy to share with them. I usually see Dr. Vollrath here who is sweet and very good at what she does. The front desk ladies and nurses are always very nice as well, which is why this interaction was so shocking. I am incredibly saddened by this and the fact that there seems to be recurrent problems with a doctor at this practice, with nothing being done about it. Please steer clear. read more

Dr. Gerstein is professional and caring. I have always had a good experience with this office.

I have been going to this practice for years and now have seen most of the doctors there. Each year, I try another doctor here hoping to have a better experience, but each doctor has been dismissive and condescending. Going to the gynecologist can already be a nerve wracking and sensitive experience, but it can be made infinitely worse by having a bad (or many bad) experiences with a doctor. This makes it so much harder for women to advocate for their own health. While I have yet to have a good experience with a doctor here, never in my life have I had such an awful experience with a doctor than I had with Dr. Gerstein. I actually left her office in tears because of my experience. I came into my appointment wanting to talk about and possibly find answers about a condition I think I may have due to many, many symptoms and risk factors. When I presented my symptoms to the doctor, it was clear from her face that she was not even listening. She then proceeded to tell me that since she had just met me, she couldn't be sure of my symptoms (which I had just laid out for her). Since I am already a patient there, if she has read my chart, she would have known about these issues as well. My symptoms are extreme and affect my life every single day. Dr. Gerstein told me that she didn't want to run tests because most times they come back negative. She told me there was really nothing she could do for me and was all together dismissive and belittling. She seemed to think (maybe because I am younger) that I had done no research myself and had no knowledge of the things I was saying, even though this is completely the opposite of my situation. It was not until I was in tears that I felt she started to listen at all. Even then, she simply told me "that must be tough." She did end up ordering an ultrasound; however, we both know my suspected condition cannot be detected through an ultrasound. I felt that this was just a way of appeasing me. She also told me she herself would call me with the results of the ultrasound, but I ended up receiving a call from the front desk staff with my results instead. She made me feel like the issues and pain I have were not worthy of her time and attention. I will obviously be going elsewhere in the future, but I now feel embarrassed, ashamed, and apprehensive about bringing up this issue with someone else out of fear I will receive the same response. Please, do some research and find someone who will listen to you and not make you feel less than human. I truly do not understand why Dr. Gerstein is in this profession if she has no intention of helping people. No one should be made to feel the way I did by a doctor. The only saving grace of this practice is their warm and friendly front desk staff...but do not be deceived by this. read more

I've been a patient for about 10 years. For the most part they answer all my questions. I"ve seen a few different doctors and none are particularly personable. They also keep you waiting in a freezing cold room in a paper robe FOREVER. The last time I had something I thought was a problem, was nothing. They were very judgmental and talked down to me about it though. Nice enough to give me an rx for the pill and allowed me to come back for the check up. I've never seen another practice so I have nothing to compare it to, it just seems like maybe they're too busy for the amount of doctors they have. My waxer sees just as much of my "area" and manages to make it as pleasant of an experience as possible. Overall it's just, meh. read more

Update: Pain continued to plague me and I sought out a 3rd opinion. Dr. Ianieri was recommended by my SisterInLaw. Though she wasn't as eager to do a hysterectomy, she took my signs/symptoms seriously. Very awesome, friendly (the opposite of Frederick!). I ended up having complete hysterectomy in August and the pathology report showed many different problems - from paratubal cysts to fibroids to cervicitis. I'm fully recovered and it was the best decision to have surgery. I have had no more pain! read more

Sitting here (freezing) now... appointment was 50 minutes ago! Stuck my head out twice and saw no one. Previous review about none of the doctors being very personable or friendly is spot on. Even the nurses have a bit of an attitude. Receptionists are the nicest by far. May be my last appointment here. read more

I have been a patient of Doylestown Gynecology since this summer 2016 and not only I, but my mother, and sister are all leaving already. Never have I been mistreated with such unprofessionalism by someone who upholds the title of "Doctor." I had to call five times for a prescription refill that I needed right away. Dr. Caroline Heise failed to mention my date of birth resulting in a delay of my prescription and I was told that I had to wait until the next day but luckily the pharmacy stayed open longer for us so that I was able to get my medication. I was harassed and yelled at for not having information right away such as a phone number and prescription description because I was simply not home at the moment or was driving the car. It was to the point where my dad had to take over the phone and continue to argue. I was told that her children knew me and I seemed to have a sense of entitlement (I was her daughters cheerleading captain maybe this is what she was referring to??) In conclusion because of her mistakes, I was blamed by her that this was all my fault and I was judged when I mentioned my name and was treated so horribly. I have never been treated like this by a so called "Doctor" that had acted so beyond unprofessional. I am at a loss for words and cannot wait to resign from this establishment. My family and I are floored and have never had bad blood on our name until this evening. I highly advise those to not go through Dr. Caroline Heise. read more
