2 carne Asada tacos, 1 pineapple el pastor taco on bottom right ($3 each)
Grace L.

Tasry, but expensive :( Also do not like how they don't post prices on their menu. $3 each for tacos, which are tiny street taco size. I ordered 3. Asada was good, pastor was deliciously flavorful. $4 for glass bottled soda - I got a soda from here since Angel City Brewery told us they don't serve nonalcoholic drinks other than water. Sides and condiments were mostly empty and it took them awhile to come out and refill.

Yeah the $15 nachos looked more like something I ordered from Taco Bell. I was worried when I saw the cashier take my order and make the food really quick in front of me. Once I sat down, I got time to fully experience the nachos, and I was very sad that I paid $15. Yeah, I was drinking at Angel Brewery, so didn't have much of an option. If I could rewind time, I would have preferred to stop by Taco Bell before hitting up the brewery.

Girls and I were doing flights at the Angel City Brewery on a Saturday afternoon, and had a hankering for tacos. They were located right inside the entryway of the brewery so it was a perfect snack. I ordered a pineapple al pastor quesadilla and a single asada taco for $8. They accept credit cards through Square on a tablet, so no need to worry about carrying cash on you. While I waited for a minute, I was in awe of their grill cart as they cooked all the meats and tortillas in front of me. They also have a taco fixings bar so you can add all the toppings and salsas to your heart's content. Protip: the red salsa is HOT! It's not for the light-hearted. A few of the girls started tearing up at the spice. It's delicious, just be cautious if you're not ready for that sucker-punch. Also they keep the bar relatively well stocked, but one of the mild green salsas was out and empty. They do get a lot of business, and they don't have a order tracking system, so the cook listens to you ordering at the cashier and cooks them to order. That also means they run the risk of missing some order items though. They forgot my taco, and forgot two tacos for a friend of mine. It's not a huge deal, we ended up waiting another minute for them, but just as a FYI. The food was great, not the best I've ever had but it's pretty darn good. The meats were all really juicy and flavorful, nothing was dry. Overall would recommend, especially if you need a snack at the brewery.

Downtown Taco Co truck is located at the Angel City Brewery in the Art District near Downtown LA. I ordered the Classic Tacos (Asada and Pollo). I really love how you can add your own toppings and hot sauce to your order. Great idea because everyone has their own preference. I would have to say this truck is a bit pricey then other trucks I been to in LA.

This is the second worst Mexican food I've ever eaten, and I grew up with a dad that served catsup instead of salsa. The burrito was completely flavorless. The rice was hard and over cooked, the entire burrito was like warm, and he cheese inside was unmelted & that mix you get from Costco. The portions were very small as well (actually standard for a taco truck though. They cut it in half to make it look bigger though which also lets out any heat that might have been in the burrito to begin with. Save time and money and just have a rice cake.

expect your server to yell someone else's name as they take your order.

Nope. This "Mexican" food truck has ambled up to the side of Angel City Brewery and opened up shop through a hole in the wall. You'll realize why this is relevant later in this review. With the captive audience of all those Angel City Brewery patrons, Downtown Tacos serves some of the worst Mexican food I've eaten in Los Angeles, and it's pretty hard to find bad Mexican food in LA. Combine the near-taste treat that is their menu with some crappy service and badly dehydrated cooks and you have an overpriced break from beer drinking. If ever there was a reason to Not have a see-thru kitchen area, this food truck is it. You can enjoy a tiny quesadilla made with Cheddar (why?) cheese for the upfront price of four bucks. If you're lucky, they will have melted all the cheese, but don't count on it. This food truck is not worth your time or money, just a calculated way to make you keep drinking beer. Genius.

(Dined 12/14/19 SA @ 6:00pm): The Downtown Taco Co. of Little Tokyo Arts District to be exact! In the throes of a couple beers floating at the bottom of my belly during Tora M.'s "2019 UYE Brew Ha-Ha #6" at Angel City Brewery in Little Tokyo Arts District, Downtown Taco Co. was a default eating choice since it was onsite this particular evening. Frankly, I'd never heard of or seen this food truck at the countless events I attended in some capacity throughout the year, so this was a perfect opportunity to add another meals-on-wheels to my list. Would I be down with their tacos and add them to the company of taco vendors I praised!? QUICK BIO "Previously known as Taqueria El Severo, they were home-based at Angel City Brewery and operated the same business hours. They welcomed all inquiries for catering your event." PURCHASE Suadero (l) & Al Pastor (r) Tacos ($3.00 x2): I'd never heard of suadero (braised beef belly) so of course I had to try it! When I received it, it immediately reminded me of the canned dog food I fed my mom's dog the night before with its gelatinous covering, not-quite-pink color, and mashable texture - yuck https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NzC3_qRPlSfcZLRqbpRjqg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Thankfully, once I dressed it up from head-to-toes, any previous imagery was erased from my mind and tasted rather nicely. The more familiar al pastor (customarily spit-grilled pork) was served with diced pineapple and caramelized onions, which I had no issues with. I prepped this taco the same way as the other, and in two large bites it was in my belly! Yeah... these were rather small for $3 ea. and didn't quite satisfy me https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5HEeP7brgOLaX-EdPSZM-A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE From what I saw it was a two-man crew as the long continued to grow. The ordering process quizzically took longer than expected for those ahead of me. When it was my turn, I learned it was just the person at the order/register. As in true busy food truck fashion, it took nearly 15 minutes before I finally got my two tacos. Needless to say, it took me less than that to dress and eat both of them - good grief! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) I went Metro to the Little Tokyo Gold Line Station and walked a few blocks. Parking was generally crap in the area with various-timed meter limits (8pm was the latest) on all surrounding streets as well as nearby paid parking lots (approx. $10). They didn't have their own parking lot. The situation sucked. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Some unique differences from other food trucks since Angel City Brewery was their home base as they basically attached themselves to a loading bay that opened to the main public house. Your standard self-sufficient food truck with an exterior menu, one order/pick up window, a separate area off to the side for condiments, napkins, and utensils, designated seating areas were throughout the brewery, and natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while electric brewery lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs nor background music https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=R3Hu7SreoQfCZml4tSItlg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I wasn't down with Downtown Taco Co. Food Truck and wished I wandered off the premises in search of other options. Frankly, the prices were high, the portion size small, pedestrian menu options, and the service left little to be desired. I recently had some amazing $3 tacos from a brick & mortar that put these to utter shame. In a town where you found tremendous tacos being served on every block, there was no reason to stop at this truck. I found decent value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $6.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 2.5 STARS

Peanut chili some shit! Worst wings ever besides the ones they serve at Hooters. Pretty much wings tossed in oil then half a jar of chili powder thrown in the mix. Hot? Yes! Savory? Not at all! Would I order them again. No! Oh soggy soft celery and carrot sticks. I will just stop here. Good luck guys and true believer that everyone deserves a second chance just not me this time.

Michelle I.

$4 for a pretty decent, small quesadilla ($7 if you want protein with it) I definitely liked the nice selection of condiments to choose from. I threw some picked red onions, cilantro sprigs, pre-sliced lime, onions, radish slices, salsa, and a squeeze of lime in mine. Pretty good and convenient when you've got the drunk munchies from all those Angel City Brewery beers. Haven't tried any of the other items on the list. There are a few $6 range options like chicken wings, although not sure how many you actually get. The $9 burrito and $15 nachos seem a bit steep however, and didn't appear to be very big when I saw people receive them. Not a place I'd find myself having cravings for necessarily, but still relatively tasty!

The pork had a great savory and slightly sweet flavor, with a nice char that gave the tacos plenty of flavor. The asada tac was also really good, with tender, well seasoned steak and that classic grilled flavor. The pineapple agua fresca was cold, refreshing, and had a nice natural sweetness. It paired perfectly with the tacos. The restaurant had a casual, laid back atmosphere, and the food came out fresh and hot. Service was friendly and quick. You know how it is -- you're all hyped up after a win, or in your feelings after a loss, and you're just talking, laughing, and clowning with your friends, so the tacos took a back seat. I came in last Saturday because I'd been meaning to try the tacos sober, and I'm glad I did. I had one birria, one pollo, two asada, and two al pastor. I remember always having an issue with the sauce on the al pastor tacos -- I'd never had sauce on my tacos before -- but I think that was just me hating because of the beer. You gotta be open-minded when it comes to food; just because you've never had sauce on your tacos doesn't mean it always has to be that way. All the tacos were effing bomb. All four meats were well seasoned, and let me tell you, they don't skimp on the proteins -- those little fuckers are packed with meat. Usually when I get pollo at other spots, it's just eh, but not here. The pollo here can hold its own with the heavy hitters like asada and pastor. I honestly can't say one was better than the other -- they were all on point. Birria bomb, pollo bomb, asada bomb, al pastor bomb. When you come -- not if, when -- be careful with the hot salsa/chile, it'll make your eyes water. I always ask for chile on the side. I remember my friends saying, "No, esta salsa está brava! Pica la cabrona." Everyone who works there is super chill and more than happy to deliver your order or clear your plates. It's always nice to eat somewhere where the employees are smiling and having a good time. Even though I come for the tacos, the staff makes me want to come back. Shoutout to the ladies working there -- your smiles and laughter make me smile too. Hopefully when you go, there's seating outside, because the one time I sat inside, it was hotter than a mug.

Also, make sure you ask them for pineapples since they did not include it until we asked. They do have them sliced up in a container by the meats. I arrived right before they opened and there were 6 customers already waiting outside, the food has always been outstanding and I think the pricing is also great though I firmly believe you get A LOT OF QUALITY for what you pay. That mesquite smoke is insane and you can smell and taste it in their food. Their most simple item I've tried, bean and cheese burrito, is so amazing! I mean, how can something so simple make me say "OH WOW" every single time? Must be the flavor added by the lard they use in their flour tortillas. I also reheated two of these burritos next day, they were still tasty! Their burrito 2.0 is hands down the best burrito I have ever ever had: simple, their asada is amazing, they season their beans and the guacamole is great! Their salsa is super tasty though I always struggle to eat it because it is super spicy (I'm not used to eating a lot of spicy food, so for those of you who do, you may love it!). You can tell that it's house made and I liked the chewy texture of it. However, respectfully the filling felt and tasted like bean goo. I could only really taste the refried bean flavor which was strong. It kind of meshed all the components together into a gooey filling. I got this with asada meat and the meat was kind of chewy and not so flavorful on its own. Props to the tortilla though for not spilling everything out and holding it together well, but still a bit difficult to eat. I would ask for utensils when eating this dish. The green onion garnish was unique. I wish they gave more lime wedges because that helped elevate the dish. For $13 this wasn't too bad, but I'd rather get a better burrito from a street vendor. This is a casual eats type of place with both indoor and outdoor seating and tables. They also serve alcohol and even frozen alcoholic drinks. They have a free parking lot in front, but it can be competitive to get a spot. Overall, my experience here was just okay and I would opt for other spots.
